Chapter 5 strange brother
My lungs tightened as I watched him walk meticulously toward me, slow and deliberate, every step soaked in danger. Before I could react, my foot slipped, and I fell back onto the bed. Sweat broke out across my forehead, my hands trembling uncontrollably.
Was he really going to sleep with me?
Having forced sex with someone you don’t love wasn’t just painful. It was suicidal.
"Little lamb, you speak too much. Isn’t it about time you shut up?" he muttered, a smirk curving his lips, his eyes cold enough to freeze my blood.
I swallowed hard, my heart almost ripping out of my chest. I crept backward into the bed, inch by inch. "Don’t come close," I said in a panicked whisper as he stood directly in front of me.
Before anything else could happen, the door burst open. I froze again, expecting the worst, only to see the white haired one stepping inside. My heart plummeted. He was going to join him. They were both going to take turns.
Tears gathered instantly. I felt them burning the corners of my eyes.
But instead of approaching me, the white haired alpha frowned deeply, glaring at the short haired one beside me.
"What are you doing?" he asked coldly, his voice sharp enough to cut the air in half.
"She talks too much. I just want to teach her a little lesson," the dark haired one replied with sarcasm dripping from his tone.
"Versus, don’t do that. Don’t you see you’re scaring her?" the white haired one responded, stepping closer to the bed.
Versus.
So his name was Versus.
And this calm, white haired one… he was stepping in for me? Protecting me? Why did it feel like I should be more afraid of him than the others?
He sat gently on the edge of the bed, and I immediately shifted backward, fear screaming in my veins. His cologne hit me first, cool and expensive, making my heart skip a beat. His grey eyes met mine, and there was something in them that looked like warmth. Softness. Comfort. But I couldn’t trust that. Not yet. Not with what they were.
He noticed the fear trembling through me and spoke quietly. "I’m not going to touch you. None of us will. You don’t need to be scared."
His voice was calm, almost soothing. Something in my chest eased without my permission. Was he truly not going to touch me? He was different. Still dangerous, still powerful, but different.
For years, everyone believed there was only one Alpha leading their pack. That was the rumor. The legend. The terrifying truth was that there were three of them. Three in one. No wonder no one had ever defeated them. No wonder they slaughtered every alpha who tried to rival them. No wonder people trembled when mentioning their pack. Everything suddenly made sense.
"Come on, Candice, she isn’t someone to be nice to. She’s rude," Versus snapped, irritation burning in his voice. I frowned at him.
"It’s normal for her to feel that way. She’s in a new environment, so leave her alone," the white haired one said. His grey eyes remained fixed on mine. So he was Candice. And if that was true, then the older one must have been Kaelrix.
"Are you feeling hurt in any way?" Candice asked softly.
I shook my head, and he gave me a small, warm smile.
"Don’t worry. Some maids will check up on you soon," he said.
I nodded. "Thank you."
"It’s okay. Just tell me if you need anything, and if anyone tries to cause you trouble."
His voice was gentle, soothing, and I hated that it made me feel safer. Meanwhile, Versus stood quietly with a hard expression, clearly irritated that Candice was showing me kindness. He held a first aid box, but I hadn’t even noticed him carrying it earlier.
Candice stood up slowly and grabbed the first aid kit, placing it beside me with calculated steps and gentle movements.
"You can’t tell me you didn’t suffer from a head injury. Let me clean it," he said.
I blinked. Yes, I had hit my head… but I was a werewolf. I should have healed by now.
"Yes, I did hit my head, but it has…" I reached up to touch the spot to show him it was healed, but when I pulled my hand away, it was covered in blood.
What was this?
Why was I bleeding?
Why wasn’t I healing?
Candice’s lips curved slightly. "Told you. Come on, let me clean it."
I obeyed before I even realized I had moved. I sat beside him softly, still confused and terrified. This had never happened before. My healing had never failed.
He cleaned the wound carefully, placed a small bandage on my head, and gently laid me down on the bed. Then he pulled the blanket over me.
Versus stood off to the side, watching us with a lazy, blank expression. I almost rolled my eyes at how uninterested he looked.
Suddenly, the air shifted. Lola let out a warning whiff inside me. My eyes darted to the door instinctively.
And just as I expected, Kaelrix walked inside.
The atmosphere transformed instantly. His presence was suffocating. Deadly. He wore a black king’s cloak draped over his tall, powerful frame. His long black hair cascaded down his waist like silk. His aura was incomparable. I hated it. And yet something inside me wanted to wrap myself around him and inhale him deeply, bury myself in that cologne he carried like a storm.
His golden, lazy eyes scanned the room until they landed on me. His expression darkened instantly.
Neither of his brothers dared to speak. Silence swallowed the room. I could see obedience and fear etched into their faces.
Kaelrix strode toward me deliberately. Each step made my heart pound louder, faster, almost painfully. When he reached me, he leaned in and grabbed my jaw harshly, forcing me to look directly into his eyes. Pain shot through my jaw as his nails dug into my skin.
Candice flinched in panic, but even he couldn’t move. And in that moment, I knew I was in deep trouble.
"You pretended to faint, didn’t you?" Kaelrix snapped icily. "You’re more useless than I thought. No wonder your father decided to sell you."
I tried to pull his hand away, but he was too powerful. Too deadly. Every alpha I had ever met was nothing compared to him.
"Listen to me," he said darkly, his voice dropping like a blade. "You belong to us. I don’t care if you die in the process. Your body belongs to us. And if you try to act smart again, I will kill you."
My heart stopped. Fear smothered me like smoke. But something in me snapped.
"Then kill me," I whispered.
The brothers’ eyes widened in shock.
Everything went still. Even the air held its breath.
Kaelrix’s deadly expression flickered, surprise breaking through for a split second.
