Chapter 10 never
When Candice yelled, I knew the Sliver was no good. I knew I was about to enter something dangerous. I knew it was something worse. I knew danger was coming.
Suddenly, with my wolf abilities, I heard faint whispers of girls. When I turned, I saw a group of girls standing in the corner, whispering about how dangerous the Sliver Fire was. How come I hadn’t seen them when I was coming in? How were they here? It was surprising because this pack looked like it had no maids at all.
Truly, there was something deep about this pack that needed to be discovered.
“Kaelrix, that place is dangerous for a lady. Are you out of your mind?” Candice’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
My chest tightened. What was the Sliver Fire about, and why did Candice yell like that? Was it really that dangerous? I wasn’t having a good feeling about this, but I couldn’t give my body to them either.
“Candice, you dare to question me?” Kaelrix responded, his eyes narrowing.
“I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry, but your punishment is too harsh and cruel. She’s a lady!” Candice snapped back, and Kaelrix leaned back, his expression unreadable.
Moon Goddess help me. Candice was fighting for me, and I could feel the cruelty of the punishment in my bones.
Wait. So, I was supposed to serve a punishment because I refused to let him touch me? And not just one punishment—but three?
“You are sold to him already. I think you should allow him, because it will only bring you more trouble and complications,” Lola said casually, and I snapped.
“Lola, can you just shut up? You aren’t the one who’s going to get hurt—it’s me! You don’t know anything. How could I handle three of them?” I yelled in my mind, feeling as though my head was about to explode. Severe pain shot through my forehead, stabbing at my temples like a warning.
“Well, there is a way she can avoid it,” Kaelrix said after a long silence, his voice cold and precise.
“What’s that?” Candice asked eagerly. Kaelrix leaned forward, his eyes glinting with a cruel curiosity.
“I want her to apologize and bow to me,” Kaelrix said. I almost laughed out loud.
He must be joking. Apologize for refusing him? Who gave Alphas the courage to demand such things? He didn’t know me. I was more stubborn than anyone could imagine.
The fear and weakness I had felt earlier disappeared immediately. I would rather walk on a volcano than apologize to him. I knew my rights, and I had self-respect. I was not doing anything he demanded.
“I’m not apologizing. Why can’t you just leave me alone? Do you want me to end my life for you?” I screamed, my voice echoing through the hall. To be honest, it felt like I was about to lose my mind. Kaelrix wanted to frustrate me beyond reason.
Everyone’s eyes widened at my words. Even the unfamiliar male who had been eating slowly at the table lifted his gaze to look at me.
Kaelrix’s jaw clenched. “You are no different from an animal,” he spat.
“Elinra, I think it’s high time you stop acting tough and apologize. It’s for your own good. You won’t be able to withstand the punishment. The Sliver Fire is more dangerous than anyone could imagine. You couldn’t even wish it on your worst enemy. Just apologize,” Versus added coldly, continuing, “You are going to be left with an eternal scar if you refuse.”
I chuckled bitterly. “You guys are unbelievable. You want me to apologize for doing nothing wrong? Aren’t I the victim here?”
Candice turned toward me, his eyes softening. “Elinra, just apologize,” he said softly, and my heart ached. I knew I wouldn’t.
I bowed my head and sighed. “Candice, I’m sorry, but I will never apologize to this Alpha. He should do his worst.”
I was even ready to dance under burning flames, but my lips would not mutter a single word of apology.
“You are tougher than I thought. You are just a rat—a little rat—and I will deal with you,” Kaelrix muttered coldly.
I lifted my chin higher. “So be it. Do what you want. I do not care.”
“Zack! Bring the soldiers!” His voice roared through the hall. Suddenly, the doors burst open, and two groups of soldiers entered. Their presence was deadly, their aura suffocating, yet they bowed toward Kaelrix with absolute obedience.
“Good day, Alpha Kaelrix. How may we be of use?” One of them asked, his voice deep and commanding.
Although my heart pounded violently, I felt ready. I would endure whatever they wanted, as long as they didn’t touch me in the way they intended.
“I want you to take her to the Sliver Fire,” Kaelrix ordered.
The soldiers bowed immediately, and two of them strode toward me, grabbing my arms tightly.
“Careful with the way you hold her. She’s not a thief,” Candice snapped coldly. The soldiers released their grip.
Then, they led me out of the hall. Kaelrix and the brothers followed closely behind, their expressions unreadable but deadly.
Every step I took toward the Sliver Fire felt like walking into my own nightmare. Yet, I refused to let fear consume me. I would face whatever awaited me with courage, with defiance, and with the stubbornness that defined me. Even if it meant stepping into flames, I would not surrender—not to Kaelrix, not to anyone.
The whispers of the girls I had noticed earlier still echoed faintly in my ears, a chilling reminder that this pack was not what it seemed. Something deeper, darker, and far more dangerous lay hidden here, and I could not ignore it. Every instinct screamed at me to run, but I knew running would be pointless. I was already entangled in their world, bound by chains I hadn’t chosen, yet my spirit remained mine.
Candice’s gaze lingered on me, his eyes full of worry and unshed anger, silently telling me that he would fight for me, even if the world tried to crush me. I swallowed hard, trying to steady my trembling hands. The hall behind me seemed to fade into shadow as the soldiers moved faster, their grip firm but not cruel.
Kaelrix’s presence loomed, cold and dominating, behind me. Versus and the others followed silently, their eyes sharp and dangerous. I could sense their power radiating outward, a warning and a promise at the same time. I refused to let them see fear in me.
The weight of the Sliver Fire awaited, an unknown punishment that could break even the strongest spirits. Yet, despite the fear threatening to overwhelm me, I felt a flicker of resolve deep within. My life, my body, and my dignity were mine alone. They could command, threaten, and intimidate, but they could not steal my will.
As the doors leading to the Sliver Fire drew closer, I took a deep breath, steadying myself. No matter what horrors awaited, no matter how dangerous the fire, I would not apologize. I would not bow. I would face it head-on, ready to endure, to survive, and to prove that no Alpha, no matter how powerful, could break me entirely.
The whispers grew louder, the heat from the Sliver Fire closer, but I walked forward, my chin high, my spirit unyielding, ready to confront whatever this pack, this punishment, and this fire would throw at me.
