Chapter XXI: MATE

Solitude. This is a word that is she been never achieved since she was introduced to the different world away from what she knows. Tomorrow is May 31st, the eclipse, the camaraderie of SouthWest packs and her twentieth birthday. Three days ago, after she went to the Madrigal's house, her mom explained everything to her. A werewolf is a creature blessed by the moon Goddess, and there she created a bond that no one can ever cut, and so when other bond dies, your heart will be died too. Way back second year college, she read a fantasy book about creatures who have a person that is meant for them. You cannot break it, you cannot choose but all you have to do is to accept that the person who felt the bond and attraction with you,

is your mate.

The school are still closed, and so she just stays in the house and continue her training making progress on the wind element. Somehow, she managed to control it now, making the objects float on the air like she has some sort of telepathy. She practice day up to night to forget about the thing she was afraid about. She's not yet ready. There's still a lot of things that is not clear for her, there's a lot of responsibility she needed to take care of.

"Perfect." Her mom clap from the distance as she perfect its task of holding it for an hour. She dropped the object and went beside her mom who's looking intently at her.

"Tomorrow is the day Brige."

"Wish me luck."

"I always will."

She drink her water and control a bit of wind to come on their direction, and it works. A fresh air hits her face.

"You're learning fast. But expect that power of yours to be more heavy once you turn twenty."

"Mom, I never asked you this before, but what are my three powers left?"

"You still have the Earth, Fire and water."

"I want to learn the Earth after this." She smiled.

"Why Earth?"

"Like you, I want to control phenomenon such as earthquakes. You did a great job there, mom." She complimented.

"Thanks, and sure. I will the rules of earth."

"Rules of Earth?"

"Yeah. The Rules of Earth are the guidelines to control your earth power. That's how to control phenomenon."

"Is it hard?"

"Why? Is this training of yours is easy?"

"No." She quickly blurted.

"No process is easy when you want to achieve something extraordinary."

"I bet dad also has been train well." She said out of the blue and realized what she had said.

"Sorry mom I didn't mean to mention him it just comes out of my mouth naturally."

"No it's okay. You want to tell me a fact about your dad?" Her mom asked that lift her mood up.

"Yeah."

"Well, your dad is a great water bender. He's so great that he has been hailed as the strongest among their clan." Her mom said, smiling.

"That's great." She thought but suddenly her shoulder drop " He's very strong but why didn't he protect us?" Her mom just fell in silence.

After a whole day of training, she is now packing her clothes and everything she needs. They are now going to Manchada and so they could prepare their selves for what they called Camaraderie tomorrow evening. While on the road, she just put her earphones and play LANYs song which help her to calm a bit knowing that she would again face her grandpa and those people who hate her. Kit was driving and beside her is Diana whose busy in her phone. Her mom is beside her sleeping and she could see how tired she was. As she stared at her mom, her mom's lullaby song suddenly play and for an unknown reason, she felt like she misses her mom. Maybe because for a very long time, all they got is each other's arm. No werewolf, no pack, no big responsibilities and no power. It's just them.

It almost 10 pm when they arrived. The guards help them carry their luggage. They were about to go upstairs when Hera quickly goes down and hug her. Apollo was after her.

"I miss you!"

"Hey Brige, good to see you again." Apollo greeted.

Hi guys. I miss you too." She said and smiled to the both of them. Having cousins feels great, she thought.

When they are already in her room, Hera was helping her to arrange her things while asking her questions.

"I heard Winterbelle has been hit by an earthquake. I'm glad you are all safe." She said.

"By the way, how's your training?" It was Apollo.

"It's so tiring, but it's worth it." She replied and was about to continue when she realized something.

"Are you two don't have powers?"

"Uh, we have. But only one. Unlike you." Apollo answered.

"And that power is?"

"Air for me and Earth for Hera. Father is no blood of an Alpha, that's why we don't inherit powers on him like you. You are rare."

"How rare?"

"Very rare, Brige. Very rare."

The room fell in silence, like all of them has been outcast on their own. She continued arranging her things as well as Hera when someone knocks on the door.

"Brige?"

"Come in please." The door open, it was Diana holding a large rectangular box.

"This will be your dress for tomorrow night." Diana said and smile at her.

"Thank you, Diana. Where's mom, by the way?"

"She is in the office with the Alpha, Trinity and the Beta. I'm just going to arrange something. Take a rest to just spend your time with your cousins."

"Yeah, sure. Thanks." And so Diana went out.

She placed the box on her bed and look at it as a whole. It as a blue rectangular box with a ribbon in the middle and is scented, smells like Lavender.

"Tomorrow is also your birthday. You will fully undergo the phase." Apollo said.

"Yeah but, I'm curious, how hard is it to undergo the phase? When am I going to transform myself? Can you tell me about yours?"

"No problem. I'm going to sleep here!" Hera stated.

"There's no way I will be left out. I'm going to sleep here too. There's no malice in that. Both of you are my relatives." Apollo said.

"Okay. I will just go for the middle so that Brige won't feel awkward." Hera suggested and they agreed.

The cousins are already laying in bed comfortably telling her how they undergo the phase and how is it hard for them.

"It was heavy."

"Exhausting."

"I felt like dying"

"But it's cool."

"Yeah, super."

She is busy listening to the siblings, and she was just laughing in her mind as how they describe their training and phase. It was cautious to be exact. But despite how terrible they describe it, somehow, she doesn't feel scared. She doesn't know why but as days passed by and after she went to the Madrigal's house, she felt like there was something inside her that is protecting her.

She doesn't want to assume, but it felt like it was the bond between her and,

her mate.
