Chapter 226

Zara's POV

These past weeks, Keith seems to have been more worried than usual, since he returned from alpha Tristan's Pack. He didn't want to tell me what went wrong but I know something went wrong and former beta Clark and beta Lucian got into a heated argument, I have no idea what the argument is about but I don't think it's one of those trivial issues, because Lucian was freaking mad, I have never seen him so angry and his outburst was uncontrollable. He was like a beast in rage, I was scared that he was going to go feral but Harris and Keith were able to manage him but that didn't change the fact that something had shifted in him.

Lucian had suddenly lost interest in things, he was no longer that cheerful beta that I knew and he had been distancing himself from Sara, and Keith kept making excuses for him.

Sara on the other hand, hadn't noticed Lucian's behavior towards her. She had been so carried away taking care of the little boy that Lucian brought home. The little boy had lost his memory, and he couldn't even remember his parent's name nor his name.

Sara was the one responsible for taking care of him, and since we don't know anything about him, we decided to name him, Blake.

I was happy that Sara was channeling her energy into something else instead of thinking of the fact that everyone in our circle found their mate except her with what was going on. I don't think Lucian is thinking of having a chosen mate.

And my little girl was getting attached to Blake, I could understand she doesn't have anyone her age around here except for Blake.

My eyes moved to where Blake and Kiera were playing, and I smiled at them, for the first time, my little girl was living a free life, with no worries or hiding him from Keith. The smile on my face wiped away when I heard Keith growl. I don't think I have heard Keith growl for a while now and his husky voice came up.

"What the fuck are you saying, Lucian? Are you throwing all these away? Our friendship, the beta position, and your love for Sara and the pack?" Keith growl

"I want to leave, I need to find my roots, I can't stay anymore knowing the people, I called my family aren't my family, if I stay here one more day, I might go feral and I could hurt the pack members, and I don't want that,"

"So you are leaving because former beta Clark is not your father?"

"Yes Keith, yes..." He growled kicking the table in front of him, "I am a bastard, all these years, I have lived here thinking I belong here not knowing I am another bastard dragging the position of a firstborn in the life of people who didn't know how I came into this world,"

"You are being ungrateful and unfair to your family, they love you like their own and they were willing to bring this to the grave. They care about you and you know it." He shakes his head too violently.

"No, they didn't, they were selfish, hiding the truth from me was selfishness. I deserve to know that I was some kid picked from the trash or someone's belongings to a high-ranking wolf or probably I was an omega," he said the last part with pain as his tears dropped.

"Lucian..."

"Please Keith, I saw you got mad at Aunty Tracy when you found out that she is your mother and didn't tell you."

"Lucian, that was different, she was here, she watched me grow up and call someone else mother and she didn't say a word about it..."

He interrupted Keith, "No, that wasn't different, it's the same thing, you know I hate lies and I can't stand the fact that the one man, I look up to all my life was nothing close to perfection and I am not blood-related to him, I can't stay here, I need to leave."

"What about the Pack? The beta position, who is going to be beside me when I get the crown as the king of beasts? For years Lucian, both of us had fought side by side to make this dream come true, now we got it, you are going to leave me?"

"I am not leaving you. You have Kimball, he could be a better Candidate for the beta position, he is learning fast. he is doing great and the Pack members love him. He had a mate already, which the Pack females could go to if they can't go to your Luna, while I have nothing to offer." I could feel the pain reeking in his body, Lucian was hurting, I understood he wanted to find himself but he needed us.

"If it's about the mate thing..."

"I don't want to claim her as my chosen, I saw the pain in her eyes when she talked about how my..." He paused, "Lila, Mia found their fated mate and how she loves the fated mark on their neck, it's different from the chosen mate mark,"

"Sara doesn't care about that,"

"Yes, she doesn't care but I do care, I want to see her happy, I want to give her a future, that she will never regret choosing me. I want to make her happy, she had gone through a lot and I don't intend for her to go through another hell just because she chose me."

"And you think that she is not going to get hurt?" Before Keith could even finish his words. Lucian's voice came up.

"I, beta Lucian Clark, of Silver Moon Pack, denounce alpha Keith as my alpha, denounce the position of a beta and the Silver Moon pack as my pack." Keith and Lucian's bodies jolted at the same time, probably feeling a bond broken and the pain came like a hurricane, Keith staggered behind a bit before his back met the wall and Lucian's hand went to the floor, he was on all four in his human form.

My hand flew to my lips not knowing which one to go to, suddenly the door flew open and Sara walked in with Blake, "what is going on?" Sara asked rushing to Lucian but he shoved her aside and grabbed Blake's wrist.

"C'mon we are leaving," Sara rushed to him and pulled his hand.

"What is going on? Talk to me, Lucian,"

"I am no longer part of the Pack, I just denounced the Pack, so I am leaving," he said.

"I am coming with you?" Sara said hurrying inside to get her things, Lucian held her hand.

"No, you are not coming with me, it's just me and Blake, you should stay and wait for your mate," Sara wriggled her hand from his hold. Her face flushed fiery, her eyes squinting into an intense glare as she raised her hand and slapped her palm across Lucian's face.

"I curse the day, I gave my body to you," I felt pain flash through Lucian's eyes but he masked his expression and pulled Blake with him, the little boy called out to Sara, for the first time in weeks, he murmured, "mummy, I love you," Sara fall to the floor, as her heart shattered in pain.

She let out an earth-shattering scream before she falls on my shoulder, "I am fucking worthless."
