Chapter 73

Chapter 73

Vincenzo pov

I stepped out of the car, the sound of the slamming door echoing in the stillness of the late afternoon. The security guards stationed near the entrance nodded in unison, their expressions a blend of familiarity and cautious intrigue. I brushed past them, my heart racing as my feet carried me toward the sprawling mansion that loomed ahead, its white façade glistening under the golden sun. There was an urgency in my stride, a desperate determination that propelled me forward.

As I entered the grand living room, the scent of polished wood and expensive perfume filled the air, mingling with the faint sound of classical music playing softly in the background. Cassandra's voice chimed in like a bell, bright and welcoming. "Vincenzo, darling!" she exclaimed, her graceful figure rushing toward me with arms outstretched for a hug. I sidestepped her embrace instinctively, my gaze darting around the room, searching for the one person who had been occupying my thoughts.

"Where's Lyra?" I asked, my tone sharper than I intended, betraying the knot of anxiety tightening in my chest.

Cassandra's smile flickered, a momentary lapse of her usual charm, but she quickly masked it with a veneer of poise. "I haven’t seen her since this morning," she replied, her eyes reflecting a mix of concern and intrigue. "She mentioned needing some alone time."

Her curiosity was palpable, but I wasn’t in a mood to indulge her inquisitive nature. I needed to find Lyra before the weight of the day crushed me further.

I pushed past her, my feet pounding against the stairs as I took them two at a time, the familiar rhythm echoing in my ears. My room awaited me, but it felt hollow, stripped of the warmth and comfort I craved. In a moment of impulse, I shifted course and made my way toward Lyra's room instead. The anticipation coiled tightly in my chest, mingling with an undercurrent of frustration that urged me forward.

As I approached her door, uncertainty flickered in my mind. I hesitated, my hand hovering just above the handle. What if she wasn’t alone? The thought ignited a spark of possessiveness within me that I couldn’t ignore. With a deep breath, I pushed the door open, and instantly, time seemed to freeze.

Lyra stood by the window, illuminated by the soft cascade of sunlight like a living work of art, her back turned to me, completely vulnerable in her nudity. The golden rays danced across her skin, accentuating the delicate curves I had spent countless hours dreaming about, filling me with an overwhelming mix of awe and desire. My breath caught in my throat, and for a fleeting moment, all coherent thought vanished, leaving behind only an intoxicating sense of urgency and longing.

I stood frozen in the doorway, my breath caught in my throat as my eyes roamed over every inch of her exposed skin. The gentle curve of her neck drew me in, adorned with a few stray strands of hair that glistened in the soft light. The slope of her shoulders was delicate yet strong, hinting at a serene confidence. My gaze traveled down to the soft contours of her back, the way the muscles flowed seamlessly into the graceful dip of her waist. And there, at the base of her spine, were her rounded hips—shapely and inviting, a silent call that sent my heart pounding wildly in my chest.

Time seemed to stretch indefinitely as we locked eyes, suspended in that charged moment. I didn’t dare to breathe, afraid that any sound would shatter the beauty of this encounter and the spell it cast upon me. Then, as if she could feel the weight of my gaze, she turned to face me.

Our eyes locked, and the air thickened with an electric tension that made it hard to think. Hers widened slightly in surprise, yet she made no attempt to cover herself. Instead, she took a confident step forward, her gaze unwavering, holding me captive in a world where nothing else mattered. I could feel my control slipping away, my desire for her surging like a tidal wave, crashing fiercely against the shores of my restraint.

“Close the door,” she said, her voice low and intimate, barely above a whisper, yet it resonated in the silence like a command that left me breathless.

As the door clicked shut behind us, the sound reverberated through the room, a decisive marker of our newfound solitude. I could feel the weight of Lyra's gaze, a fiery intensity that ignited a warmth beneath my skin. Each heartbeat echoed in my ears as I took a deliberate step closer to her, the anticipation coiling tighter in my chest.

The space between us seemed to dissolve with each measured breath, the air thickening with unspoken promises and uncharted emotions. Lyra's lips parted slightly, revealing a hint of her pink tongue, and a jolt of desire coursed through me at the sight. It was as though time had slowed; I was utterly captivated, my eyes locked onto hers as I reached out, my fingers grazing her silky skin.

To my relief, she didn’t flinch or retreat. Instead, she leaned into my touch, a soft sigh escaping her lips as I traced the gentle curve of her neck. In that moment, the rest of the world faded into a distant blur, leaving only the two of us suspended in an intoxicating dream of raw attraction and electric tension.

“Vincenzo,” she whispered, her voice low and sultry, sending shivers down my spine.

That single word was enough to unravel the thread of restraint I had been holding onto. I pulled her close, my lips crashing down onto hers in a fervent kiss that spoke volumes of my intentions. The heat between us surged, enveloping us in a cocoon of passion, as the borders of the outside world melted away—leaving only the drumbeat of desire and the tantalizing promise of everything that lay ahead. I don't know I feel a connection with her. Why was I fighting to have her?
