Chapter 61 - The Sentence
~~~ Landon ~~~
The moment the shield was lifted, I felt everything. And it hit me like thunder and lightning all together. The ravishing blissful sensation started racing through my body, a desire to love and protect, inhale her fragrance as if it was oxygen to me.
The sacred mating bond. I’ve only heard of it, and it’s stronger than I expected.
My heart followed the lavender scent that flattered my nostrils. My eyes scanning the room, the surroundings faded away and I only saw her, so beautiful with her long silver hair that she wears in wavy curls, eyes of clear sky color filled with determination.
She’s perfect!
So I was fucking right, my mate was here, in this castle. And she is not a werewolf. The same as my father, the Moon Goddess blessed me with a mate outside my species.
I stood in her presence before, yet our connection was hidden by that fucking shield that suppressed my wolf. I was unable to recognize her as my fated one.
Next thing the happiness that made my pulse rush vanished into thin air watching the scene unfolding before our eyes. My blood ran cold and I saw red in front of me when that abominable monster threatened her, just before slicing her throat.
I could feel my wolf’s rage hitting sky high, a pained growl left my chest and I could not control myself, I lunged for the vampire, my father and Hayden teamed up with me.
“You are no match for me, you filthy werewolves! At least you should have shape-shifted along with your packs! I will have the hybrid, even if it’s the last thing I do!” The devil smirked, then his eyes landed on my sister. “You are not your mother, my dear, Aria was far more beautiful, but as I didn’t have her, you would do!”
“You will have no one here!” Hayden growled, casting him a lethal glare, ready to shape-shift.
“STOP!!!” Allaya shouted, a bright light coming out her body, entrapping Morrigan into a fire cage again, and this time he doesn’t have Alita to escape.
I ran to my mate, she was standing in a pool of blood. Dropping myself on the ground, I lift her head in my lap.
“We must do something! Allaya, do something! Turn her into a vampire!” I cry out, despair obvious in my tone.
“I... I never did that. What if I kill her?” My sister stuttered.
“She will die anyway!” I push, grabbing her wrist. “Quickly!”
“Allaya is too powerful, Alita might not resist both the vampire and the werewolf venom!” Xander states and he might be right.
“Gabriel! He should do it!” My father cuts in.
Gabriel stares at me conflicted. “Alita never wanted to be a vampire. She had many opportunities to become one! She never desired that!” He confesses, his tone of remorse, but implacable at the same time.
The fucking blood sucker will not budge!
“So we should just let her die?” I retaliate feeling tears in my eyes, I don’t know if I have ever fucking cried before.
Fuck this shit, I’ll do something myself!
I bite the other side of her neck, not the spot where my special mark should have been placed for Morrigan wounded that wonderful part of her, and I pray that my werewolf venom would spread fast and help her heal.
Moon Goddess, please, don’t let her die!
Xander vanishes and returns in the blink of an eye with the Golden Goblet, filled with the blood of the five Alphas. The Alpha Ceremony was to be held in a few days, a month after the Blood Ceremony.
It is known that the blood of an alpha has faster healing powers than the one from an average werewolf, so I understand what he is trying to do.
He takes a few drops and pours them over her wound, then he pours another few drops on her lips, murmuring some chants that our minds cannot comprehend. My sister joins him, their hands connected.
After what it seemed like ages, Alita opens her eyes and stares deep into my soul, breath caught in my throat.
Her hand reaches to touch me, I gently kiss it. “Are you crying? For me?” Her low voice is holding strong emotions.
I search her wound and it’s almost gone. It means that it will heal.
“You’re going to be fine!” I brush my lips against her forehead, inhaling her sweet alluring scent.
“So much drama!” Morrigan declares sarcastically from his cage, the only one that protects him from me and my family. “You should have died!” He spats, pointing towards my mate. “All of you should have died!” He hits the walls made of fire, only to bounce back in pain.
My body is fuming with wrath, this is not over, he will fucking pay for everything!
~~~ Allaya ~~~
The events unfolded too fast, I must admit that I panicked when my brother asked me to turn Alita into a vampire.
‘You did the right thing. We could have killed her and Landon would have hated you forever.’ Pandora shared her opinion.
‘I think he would have hated me anyway if she had died.’
‘He wouldn’t have. Maybe at first, but eventually, he would have understood.’
But what a twist of fate, a mate bond between a witch and a werewolf, and everybody became aware of it. Truth be told, I have never expected this and I’m delighted that Landon was able to find his mate, his special half.
I never witnessed that lighting flash of anger in his eyes before, his murderous glare suggests that he would kill Morrigan without a second thought, his hatred is out of hand and I can understand why. If someone were to hurt my Hayden, I don’t know how I would react, the mere thought makes the blood boil in my veins.
“Allaya, you must do it!” Gabriel interrupts my train of thoughts.
“I know.”
The devil must receive his punishment, it’s time. I turned towards him, he used to be in control of the situation, always acting as if he owned us. Now a mixture of fear and shock is spread all over his face, even his demeanor morphed into one of horror.
All this time, he did countless atrocious acts in order to avoid this moment right now, the moment of his demise.
‘Pandora, I must make use of every ounce of your power!’
‘You can do this, I’ll help you!’
“Morrigan Waldgrave, Head of the Council, for the act of selfishly enforcing a false law and deceiving every creature in the supernatural world, you are to be punished. Needless to say, that atrocious law will be abolished, effective immediately. You will not be mercilessly executed, as you did with my mother and other innocents, your retribution will be different.” I stare into his cold eyes before delivering the terms of his condemnation. “I sentence you to Eternal Sleep!”
After I voice those words, the cage reshapes into a coffin and vanishes from sight, being transported to the place where it belongs, the forbidden and very much hidden area of the castle, where the ones condemned to eternal sleep spend their eternity.
The atmosphere suddenly changes, the air becomes easier to breathe, that dire beast used to turn everything within his range into toxic matter.
My eyes travel around the room, a serenity feeling invades my body watching my family, my loved ones safe again.
I feel even more at peace when a set of bulky arms envelope me from behind, moist lips are caressing the back of my neck.
“Baby, is it weird that the part where you gave the sentence turned me on?” My handsome man whispers in my ear, his words awakening every single part of my body.
Every time he touches me, a lustful desire ignites within my body making me lose sense of time and space. I love him with an intensity that is challenging to put into words.
“I see that it turned you on as well.” He chuckles. “Should we have a moment for ourselves?”
Are we free? Is the terror really over?
‘You still have to deal with Elena. There must be a reason why she is not here.’
Pandora is right, I thought the same when I noticed her absence. But for now, I’ll celebrate our victory.
