Chapter 11 Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Chapter 11
LUCIAN

Someone hugged me from behind and I immediately stiffened.

I already knew that it was Isolde trying to act all lovey-dovey and I honestly wasn't just feeling it anymore.

It wasn't her fault and the fact that she kept smiling at me like I hung the moon and the stars was enough to put even more guilt in me.

I looked her in the eyes pretending to be happy that she had returned but I just wanted to stay for longer.

"I never knew that you had already arrived. I thought you were still at the airport." I joked.

If I didn't act the way I had been acting she was going to pick up on the fact that there was something long and honestly speaking that was not a conversation I'm going to have whether now or later.

I was still beating myself up for having such little self control over something that is potentially going to ruin my identity and I couldn't compromise it for anything else in the world.

"I knew that you were going to host a meeting . Do you think I'm going to miss it? We have many things to plan. I know that you're going to tell me to take a deep breath and all of that but it doesn't matter to me. I want to be here and I'm going to do it."

Isolde was good at taking things like it was her own business and I appreciated it about her. One of the reasons why I felt even more terrible for doing what I did.

Some people would have tried to justify the actions but I would rather staff myself than give him to my freshly desires simply because of some Bond that had not come up even before I met this wonderful woman.

Her face held a bit of worry and I found myself asking against my better judgment.

"What the hell happened to you on your way?"

She hugged me tighter,

"I don't know what is wrong with Seraphina but she doesn't look happy to be here. I know that we have been separated for a long time and I was hoping that we would finally be able to bond with each other but right now I don't think it's ever going to work."

My ears perked at the fact that this was probably going to land us in more problems if I was being truthful to myself but I pretended like I didn't understand what she was talking about.

"Are you sure you're not just reacting because I know that you have a whale of trying to make things go your plan but if it doesn't you will not beat yourself up."

She disengaged from the embrace and looked into my eyes.

“My baby has a lot of things going on through her mind and even though she's that young she has always wanted me to be happy. I just want to do the same for her, that's why I invited her over."

Now I felt a punch to my gut. Now I understood how Seraphina was so unhappy about the fact that we were doing something against her mother's knowledge that was going to destroy the marriage that we had already built.

"I'm sure she'll come around one of these days. Most people don't like telling people what they are going through. It doesn't mean that she hates you or something."

Isolde looked into my eyes for a minute before nodding.

"I guess I'm overreacting like you have always said I've done but sometimes she remains my baby and I just want the best for her. I don't care how old she is or how young she might be but I'm sure that's her..."

I was tired of listening to her talking about our daughter not because I wasn't also interested but because I knew that I was going to get more attached to Seraphina and that was a recipe for disaster.

I needed to know little about her and that was why I was trying to shove her into the hands of another person to take her away so that I did not do something crazy like sneaking into hardware and getting caught.

Isolde didn't deserve such betrayal especially after I knew what her ex-husband had done to her.

I had sold the dream that I was going to be a better person and dependable and she had been nothing but supportive, so doing that to her was also a breach of contract.

"Do you have the slightest idea of what I could do to make her happy? You know what, you can probably drive her downtown tomorrow?" Isolde gushed and I felt like throwing a fit.

Did you know how hard it was for me to stay close to like it will without losing my mind and all myself controller and getting tempted by the very thing that I didn't want to become.

"I'm too busy to be driving someone around. I'm sure you probably have a lot of drivers around. Why don't you take them instead of trying to push me to your daughter?" I acted very irritated because I truly was

It was one thing for the both of us to burn naturally but it was one thing for you to be shoving the girl in my face.

She wasn't some toddler I needed to be forced into seeing the best part of you.

"Your daughter loves you no matter the consequences and I'm sure that is something that you understand right? So please do not try to underestimate her maturity by trying to force me on her. It's just not great if you ask me."

She looked at me for a second and nodded.

“I honestly don't know what I was thinking because I shouldn't be trying to push you onto my daughter and trying to make you friends at all costs. I'm sure she will come around when she's really ready."

I didn't know when I let out a deep breath.
