CHAPTER SIXTY

Dante got up from his kneeling position and walked closer to the approaching man who was dressed in royal outfits, his scepter held tightly in his hand.

“I asked a question, who are you and how are you able to resist my command?” The King asked again.

“My name is Dante Alexander Night and I'm the Alpha of the Night Howler's Pack. The goddess bestowed the Alpha Superior rank to me.” he introduced himself.

The king was shocked for a minute but then he took a closer look at Dante.

"I can't imagine what you must have gone through to get that. But Night Howler's Pack used to be my second most powerful pack before the unfortunate event that took place, wait, what did you say your name was? I and my wolf glossed over that part of your introduction, I still can't get over the strength you displayed."

"Dante Night, Your Highness"

“Now wait a minute, Dante! I knew the face looked very familiar. The Alpha of your pack said you were dead, I could barely recognize you. Come over here” he exclaimed in shock and excitement.

Dante went over him, grateful for the King recognizing him. They had played together as friends when they were little but as adulthood set in, so did responsibilities for the both of them and they were unable to remain close.

“I apologize for the rude entrance, the guards at the gate seem to be power drunk” Dante apologized.

“Oh, it's alright, they will be properly dealt with. Now, who is this lovely woman?” He asked, extending a hand towards Taylor and she walked up to them with a smile.

“This is Taylor, she's the goddess’s gift, not just to me but the entire werewolf kingdom. In fact, she was the one responsible for my returning from the dead. I have a little gift for you. Bring Seth and the animals we killed on our way here” Dante told his men.

They did as they were told and the King walked up to Seth and grabbed his chin. He looked into his eyes and immediately dropped it, his countenance changing to disgust and anger.

"How dare you?! The Night Howlers Pack was strong and powerful, an asset to the crown and instead of you to find a way to make yourself useful, you decided to destroy it?" He roared in anger.

"I'm sorry my King, I didn't know it'll get to this point, I'm so sorry, please spare my life" Seth begged pitifully

"Your Highness, there's so much more than him betraying the Night Howlers Pack, he betrayed the entire WereWolf kingdom by working with our biggest enemy. He turned my pack into a supply Depot for our enemy, his crimes are way too much." Dante told tye King who was greatly appalled

“Get this wretched man away from ny sight! Make sure he's in the last level in the dungeon. When I'm ready for him, I'll ensure he regrets ever attempting his crimes” the king shouted in anger, unable to process what he had just heard.

"Thank you Your Highness. I was going to face him in the Alpha's Battle of Wills before I discovered how far he had gone in betraying us. I decided he was yours to deal with" Dante said

“You have done well, old friend. Now, I'm sure you must be exhausted so I'll let you get settled in. We have the Mate Ball already happening, but there's still one more day so I will insist you get some rest” the King replied.

“Alright my King but I want to request your presence tomorrow morning for an urgent matter. We are running out of time” Taylor spoke up.

“Well, we usually don't hold council during the mating season as we like to give the newly mated time to get their lives in order but the goddess told me of your coming and I will assume it is a very important mission you have come for so I will call an emergency meeting tomorrow morning.” He told them before commanding his staff to get the guests comfortable.

The next morning, Taylor woke up very early, her wolf had been restless all through the night.

She went to the bathroom to do her morning routine and when she got out of the ensuite bathroom, Dante was already dressed.

“You couldn't sleep as well?” She asked him, going to the clothes the Omegas dropped off for her.

“Something feels wrong and I can't place my hand on it. We have to be very alert and keep our wits about us” he replied, coming closer to peck her forehead.

They stood that way for a moment, taking some time for themselves before heading out.

They had been given a room in the east wing of the palace and as they stepped out, a guard came to escort them to the meeting hall.

“So, what has the King been doing about the situation on ground?” Taylor decided to poke around the guard's mind.

“Well, from the reports coming from our Delta, it's not a big deal. All the packs have it under control so there's no need for the King to bother doing anything” he replied.

Taylor looked at Dante and they shared a bewildered look.

“Thank you” they told him as he opened the door to the meeting hall where the King held meetings with delegates and pack members alike.

As they walked down the small stairs that led into the room, the couple paused to take in the room.

The curtains were opened all over the room, allowing natural light to pour in and there were chairs set up all over the room and at the right side, the thrones for the king and queen were placed.

By the time they got to the middle of the room, many wolves had noticed the pair, pausing in their discussions to greet them.

“You look wonderful Dante, welcome back from the dead” Royal Beta Gerald greeted Dante, happiness radiating off him.

“Haha, thank you my friend. All thanks to the goddess and my wonderful mate here, Taylor” he replied, introducing his mate around the room.

The King joined them with his Queen and she was introduced to Taylor.

“You must tell me how you got that perfect shade of red for your hair” the queen gushed to Taylor.

“Oh, it's not hair color. It's natural” she replied

“Well, if you say so” the queen answered, obviously not believing her but took her hand and began introducing her around the room while Dante was with the Beta, discussing his ordeal at the hands of his cousin.

Taylor was smiling and greeting other Luna's and mates of high level wolves when she felt the hairs on her body stand straight, her ear filled with a a strange sound.

“Celia, what is going on?” She asked her wolf, still managing to smile as the women discussed mundane things.

“I smell him but the scent is strange. I think it's all the hair products in this spot you are standing. Take a step back” her wolf told her.

“Um, sorry my Queen, I need to give my mate something” she whispered to the queen which the rest of the women undoubtedly heard.

“I know that feeling, young love. He's not going to disappear. But go ahead, I'm sure he's missing you as well, he's been scratching his arm for the past two minutes” she joked.

They all laughed.

As Taylor turned around, she saw a face that rattled her core.

Jethro, dressed like a royal, walked into the meeting room, his aura dark but a dazzling smile on hia face.
