CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN
The scuffle happening right in front of Dante was strange.
Three guards were fighting about ten rogues and for whatever reason, they didn't alert anyone else.
They were obviously losing, two of them having injuries on their legs.
They didn't shift and were using the swords Dante brought up from their old armory as most of their recent weapons had been given to Jethro.
He roared, shocking everyone.
One of the rogues immediately threw something at Dante but he felt nothing.
Then he understood how they've been doing all of this without anyone noticing it.
But they probably didn't account for him being outside today and the potion was too weak for weak for an Alpha of his status
He swung into action immediately.
“Everyone, to the western border immediately!” He sent to the pack link before shifting and joining the fray, tearing into rogues left, right and center.
Before the rest of the pack showed up, he had killed almost all the rogues , leaving one alive for questioning.
“Thank you so much Alpha, we couldn't shout, or mindlink. In fact, I'm actually surprised I can talk. They sprayed something on us” one of the guards said in a small voice, his injuries pouring out blood.
“Here, it'll stop the blood” Taylor put her finger in his mouth, and even though he was shocked, he accepted it.
To everyone's surprise, the blood flow stopped immediately and he regained his connection to his wolf. The guard shifted immediately with excitement, bowing down to Taylor.
“Oh no need for that” she laughed and patted his head. The rest of the guards came to her and took her blood.
“I didn't know she could do that,” someone whispered in the crowd.
“Her blood is capable of many things, healing being the primary one. Kristen, over to you. Ensure he talks. We need to find out what they are using to produce this. Once we find an antidote, we can distribute it to other packs as we travel.’ Dante replied.
“Alpha, don't you think it'll be easier if Luna were to start selling drops of her blood to other packs? We can make a lot of money that way and we can spoil his plans at the same time” an elder suggested.
Everyone gasped, including Taylor who was shaking her head. He literally just suggested to her mate that she should be used as a blood bank.
Dante was struggling to hold his wolf back from doing something drastic at this moment
“Elder Cain, when did you return?” Dante asked, curious how he escaped his loyalty test.
“Last night. I heard you were back and immediately came back to take new orders from you. The former Alpha sent me on a message to the Greyhound Pack”
“I see. Can anyone tell me the major cause of death for a werewolf?” He asked everyone else.
“Blood loss,” someone in the crowd answered.
“So, let me get this straight. You want my mate who is the only surviving Pure blood to start selling her blood to over five hundred packs around the world? And what will happen when packs begin attacking us in order to have her? Or you don't think the Alpha King will want this special gem in his control?” He asked, anger in his tone and power leaking from his pores.
The elder cowered at the heat pouring out from his Alpha.
“I'm sorry Alpha. I didn't think that far. Forgive me” he begged, baring his neck in submission.
Taylor came closer to him, her aura helping to calm him down.
“Get out of my sight. And from now on, anyone who returns will have to abstain from pack activities till they can be examined by me. Yesterday it was Dorita trying to kill my mate and now, an elder who should know better is trying to monetize her blood. If you don't want my mate then you definitely do not want me as an Alpha. Do you want me to leave?” He asked them angrily
“No Alpha.” They all chorused.
“Then this has to stop. I promised her that she will have a better life in my pack and since she got here, she's been kidnapped, lost her baby and now enduring all of these direct attacks from my own people. It will not be tolerated.”
“Alpha, we apologize for everything that has happened to your mate. We will ensure it doesn't happen again. Everyone can see how she's a blessing to us all and we will protect her with our last drop of blood” Elder Tim spoke for the pack.
“It's okay honey. We are going to move on from all of this soon” Taylor assured them all as the guards carried off the rogues to the river.
Then they turned to the bodies that were dropped before the guards accosted the rogues .
They lifted three of them and took them to be prepared for burial.
Taylor sighed sadly, it seems burials were becoming an everyday affair in the werewolf kingdom.
Then the guards came back for the remaining three but as they touched the fourth person, they dropped him back immediately.
“Alpha! One of them is alive!” Exclaimed one of the guards.
At this point, Dante was already sending everyone back to bed but he heard this and everyone immediately turned around to see what the guard was talking about; and indeed, someone was groaning in pain.
Taylor quickly rushed to the wolf who she discovered was a female and pricked her finger with a sharp tooth and immediately dropped it on the woman's mouth from a distance.
She gasped and gradually got up from the ground.
“Oh Luna Taylor” she cried out, “you have to come and help us, they are killing us! Tommy…” she said before fainting.
“Oh goddess. Please take her to the infirmary immediately.” Taylor commanded the guards.
“I have a terrible feeling about this. What if Tommy betrayed us?” Dante worried out loud.
“Then he will get the punishment he deserves. We need to hurry up and leave. I feel it's better to deal with that rogue by yourself” she replied.
“Jake, get someone to set up an interrogation room for me.” He told his Beta as everyone went back to bed.
He took his mate back to their house and kissed her passionately before locking up the house and heading to the interrogation room.
The room was very bright, forcing the people in the room to look down except Dante who was used to the hypersensitivity.
There was a table with two chairs on opposing sides and the rogue was seated and chained, his bloodshot eyes angry.
The rogue looked haphazardly rough and his eyes were very red.
“When did he start using you guys? Did he run out of wolves he could control?” Dante joked as he sat down opposite the wolf.
He didn't reply.
“I asked you a question. Now, we can do this willingly or I can give your wolf the option of abandoning you for disappointing him. I'm pretty sure he's not happy with your decision to destroy his kind and work for that horror of a wolf” Dante said while staring him in the eyes, his wolf boiling right in his gaze.
“Why won't we work for him? He promised us a place in his pack. He gave us a chance! The rest of you act like we are all bad. I was banished from my pack because I demanded for my mate from my former Alpha who forced her to become his. Do I deserve this?” He ranted angrily.
“You didn't think to go to other packs and seek asylum?”
“I came here and the other Alpha told the guards to chase me till I ran out of breath. They were good people, and they let me run away. Since then, I've not tried getting into any other pack. You all are selfish!” He spat at Dante's face.
Dante had to stand up in an effort to control his wolf.
“We are not done yet Black. Just calm down a little bit alright?” He pleaded with his wolf.
His grip tightened as his wolf was finding it hard allowing such disrespect.
When it was proving more difficult, Dante reached out to Celia. This made him finally relax a little bit and was able to open his eyes again.
He found out that the entire room was on their knees and the rogue was bent at an uncomfortable position.
“Now listen to me, no one is responsible for you deciding to kill wolves who had nothing to do with your tragic life. Every choice you make is your responsibility. And if you knew the person you were working with, you'd know he'd never give you anything other than suffering. I want to know what was in that potion now!” He shouted at the rogue, his anger pouring out.
“He.. he..he uses a herb. I don't know the name, I swear it but I can describe it. It's very tiny and it smells really really sweet. Too sweet” he paused, trying to remember more details.
“Hold on, Tristan, get me Damian” Dante told one of the guards in the room then he turned back to the man. “Why is he killing people from the Blood Stone Pack?”
“He has taken over the pack and anyone who disobeys him, he kills and sends their body here”
“Shit! When did this happen?”
“About a week ago. He can't influence anyone in the pack, I don't know why so he's using brutal force. I heard he plans to make it his permanent base”
