Chapter 76 Divorce

Chapter 76 Divorce

Mia's voice turned shrill, "You're yelling at me because of this woman? Let go, you're hurting me!" Mia started struggling, but Aaron didn't give in. Instead, he held her in his arms and restrained her hands, "Mia, calm down, let's talk this through!"

Mia gritted her teeth and threatened, "I have nothing to say to you. You insist on protecting her, don't you? I want a divorce!"

At these words, Aaron's face darkened. He said angrily, "What did you say? Say that again!"

Daphne, hiding behind him, couldn't help but smirk secretly. Although Aaron slept with her, she could tell he still had feelings for Mia. She had been worried about how to make Aaron choose her, but unexpectedly, Mia was backing out on her own. However, she covered her mouth to keep from laughing out loud - she needed to maintain her gentle and understanding image in front of Aaron. She tugged at Aaron's wrist and said, "Aaron, Mia must be speaking out of anger. Just try to comfort her. Even though I come from a simple background, I know families like yours care a lot about reputation. How could you divorce over such a small matter involving me?"

Aaron snorted coldly, "Exactly. Mia, we've been together for so long, how come you're still not as understanding as Daphne?"

Mia had been trying to take deep breaths to calm herself, but hearing this made her so angry she could barely breathe. She clutched her chest and said, "Great, so you two have become a team now, ganging up on me, is that it?" Her hands shaking, she took out her phone and called Jennifer. As soon as the call connected, she couldn't control her tears anymore.

Jennifer asked somewhat helplessly, "Mia, what's wrong? You should still be traveling abroad. Why are you crying like this? Is someone bullying you?"

"Jennifer, I came back. Do you know Aaron actually cheated on me? I want to divorce him! He and his mistress are teaming up to bully me." Mia stammered out her complaint. Her family background was ordinary, her father was weak-willed and currently worked at Aaron's company, so whenever she had conflicts with Aaron, she never told her parents - she could only complain to Jennifer.

Hearing her tone, Jennifer immediately said nervously, "Mia, don't panic. Are you home now? I'll come right over."

When Jennifer arrived, Aaron and Daphne had already gotten dressed, though their faces still bore nail marks. Mia's eyes were red and swollen from crying, and there was a faint handprint on her cheek. Jennifer hugged her and comforted her softly, "Your face is swollen. Why didn't you ice it? Don't you plan to be a host anymore?"

Only then did Mia remember her injured face. She covered it and cried out, running to get ice from the fridge. Jennifer looked at Aaron coldly, "You've already forgotten what you promised me so quickly, and you even hit Mia. Aaron, you're shameless! Have you forgotten the vows you made when you proposed, that you'd treat her well for the rest of your life?"

Aaron frowned, thinking about his relationship with Mia over these years. Although Mia had a temper, she was also romantic and would comfort him when his father criticized him. He really did love her. He said somewhat helplessly, "How was I supposed to know she'd come back early? I wanted to talk to her properly, but she's too hot-tempered - she even cut my forehead. I was so angry that I hit her without thinking. Besides, she's the one who brought up divorce, not me."

Mia came back with the ice on her face. Hearing this, she said with a cold laugh, "Before, when you loved me, if I kicked you, you'd worry about my foot hurting. Now that you have a mistress, things are different. If you don't love me anymore, why not divorce? But Aaron, your taste seems to have dropped. Besides being young, what does this woman have that's better than me?" Mia looked Daphne up and down with a mocking smile.

Daphne held Aaron's arm and said, "Mia, I'm not as tall as you, and I didn't graduate from a top university. But Aaron likes that I'm gentle and obedient. He says your temper is too bad. After all, he's a company boss - when you hit and scold him in public, it really hurts his pride."

Mia rolled her eyes and opened her mouth to curse. But Jennifer stopped her and asked softly, "Mia, do you really want a divorce? If you've thought it through and want to leave, I'll definitely support you. But..." Jennifer watched Mia's expression change - clearly, Mia still couldn't let Aaron go.

Aaron somewhat awkwardly pulled away from Daphne's hand, cleared his throa,t and said, "Mia, I just wanted a change of pace occasionally. I never thought about divorcing you!" Aaron had calmed down now. Mia had a good family background, a good education and looks, and a respectable job. This Daphne hadn't even finished college - she was just obedient and fun in bed. If he really divorced for Daphne's sake, he'd definitely become a laughingstock in their social circle.

Daphne stared at Aaron in disbelief. How could he change so quickly?

But Aaron didn't care what she thought at all. He knelt on one knee in front of Mia and said, "Mia, please forgive me. I was just playing around with her. You're the only one I truly love." He held Mia's hand and rubbed it, and this time she didn't pull away. Seeing Mia's attitude soften, he stood up and held her in his arms, saying, "Your parents were just saying a couple of days ago they wanted to get together when you came back. Look, with things like this, how would we explain it to them?"

Mia thought about how several of her relatives now worked at Aaron's company, and suddenly felt troubled. She pointed at Daphne and said, "Make her leave. I don't want to see her in our house."

Aaron knew Mia had forgiven him. He immediately looked at Daphne with disgust and said impatiently, "Did you hear that? She told you to get lost."

Seeing Aaron's cold and heartless expression, Daphne covered her eyes and ran out crying.

Mia made several more demands, like no next time, and she wanted to check his phone. Aaron agreed to everything, but he also asked Mia to give him more dignity in front of friends in the future. Mia snorted and said, "We'll see how you behave. I'll try."

Seeing the two reconcile, Jennifer, though a bit worried, left as soon as she could. When Mia and Aaron had conflicts, as an outsider, besides encouraging reconciliation, it wasn't appropriate for her to say much. Mia didn't ask her to stay either - she wanted to repair her relationship with Aaron as soon as possible. She smiled somewhat embarrassedly, "Jennifer, thanks for coming today. I'll treat you to dinner another day."

On the way back, Jennifer couldn't help thinking about herself. When Mia discovered Aaron's affair, she could hit, scold, and make a scene. But if one day she went back and saw another woman in Francis's bed, she'd probably only be able to smile bitterly and close the door for them. This was the difference between a wife and a mistress. Even though Isabella liked her, she had never hoped she could actually marry him.
