Chapter 74 Caught In The Act

Chapter 74 Caught In The Act
Impatiently I stalked back into the kitchen and stared at the now whimpering chef as he explained to Jeffery who had come down to join me after leaving Bone, my third in command to guard Celene’s room and watch the  doctors every move.

The cook was clearly panicking, pacing the kitchen like a trapped animal. “Boss… I… I need to check! I need to prove my innocence. Please, just give me a few more minutes!”
I narrowed my eyes, my hands clenching at my sides. My pulse throbbed like a damn war drum. “You have one minute before I decide whether you live to explain yourself or not.”

His face went pale. “I… I just need a chance to check who came in and out through the security locks after i stepped away.”

I let him fumble, muttering, and whimperimg like a dog in the rain, while my mind ran hotter than fire. I just couldn’t get over the betrayal. No stranger  had been let into the house, which clearly meant that the betrayal had come from my person, my home, my territory, and the thought of someone putting a hand on my kitten’s food… my blood ran cold with fury.

Jeffery stepped forward, calmly even as tension crackled in the air. “Boss… If you remember, when Miss Celene first arrived at the mansion, we installed every security feature we could find. I also remember we installed extra cameras in the kitchen. Secret ones. No one but me knew about them, not even the staff.”

I snapped my head toward him, red eyes blazing. “And you're just saying this? Call it up. Now.” I said and walked towards the lounge area with a large TV screen. Jeffery, the chef and the other guards and servers followed behind me into the room.

They all stood while I took a seat, and waited for Jeffery to get to work.
Jeffery’s fingers flew over his tablet quickly,  and soon, the feed appeared on the big screen,  the digital glow cutting through the dim light. The cook and I both leaned forward. Every frame was tense, every second dragging like a fucking knife on gravel.

The footage was clear... the cook left, locking the kitchen behind him, then a shadow moved in almost  instantly after he stepped out. And there he was, my mother's driver.

He did not even appear to be on a hurry... the fucker!i watched him like it was a film played by the devil to toture me. I watched silently as he unwrapped the tiny bag he had pulled from his trousers and then slipped something over Celene’s plate.

A little should have been enough, but the fucker emptied everything into her food. He really wanted to get the job done...to kill her...

I felt my jaw tighten, fists curling. My entire body felt like a predator ready to strike. “Where is my mother?"  I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"She fell asleep outside your bedroom door after helping the doctor take care of Miss Celene,  Boss" Jeffery answered.
"And the driver?"
"We've not alerted anyone yet, so they're probably still in the vicinity"

Ther proud, pompous prick. So sure off himself and whoever is backing him that her did not even bother to run. He still stayed in my mansion, under my roof...

I turned to the cook, and looked at him with pure disdain dripping off of me.
"You see what five seconds of laxity can cause? you see this?” I hissed at the cook. “Do you see who dared?!”
He stammered, frozen. “I… I… Boss…”

Fuck this idiot and his fucking explanations that made absolutely no sense.  Every word feom his mouth pissed me the fuck off.

I lunged forward, grabbing the feed from Jeffery and then replayed it again, frame by frame. The slow, methodical movement, the arrogance, the driver, Kenneth,  was just swaggering his way in and out of the kitchen. Fucking hell...it was unforgivable.

Jeffery’s voice broke the tense silence. “Boss… seeing as they pretended to work for your mom just to gain access to this mansion, i think its best that we find out who they working fkr and nib this fight right in the bud. We need to know if they acted alone. Only Celene’s plate was touched. Nobody else was affected.”

I exhaled slowly, though the tension didn’t leave me. My entire body was still burning. "Oh you bet I will be doing much much worse than just finding out who they work for. I'll make sure everyone involved gets a bitter taste of my wrath”
The cook sank to his knees, wiping sweat from his brow. “Boss… I swear… I didn’t… I had nothing to do with this. I would never...”

I didn’t even respond. I just stared at him. My fury was focused elsewhere now...Kenneth.
Jeffery closed the feed, nodding to me. “What’s next, Boss?”
I flexed my hands, every nerve alight. “Bring the fucker to me"
