Chapter 47 Moon, yes, she was the moon
The world was still in motion beyond this room, but Kian didn’t care. At least for right now, he didn’t care until reality stormed his peace. Daylight was retreating and darkness was creeping in. The shadows from the corners of the room was deepening. He knew there was food waiting outside the room.
He knew the World Council would be planning their next move. He knew the rest of the Amato bloodline would be coming back for blood, but he would face all that when Raina awoke. Forcing her to wake up to rush back to the bleak reality that waited for them was not something he wanted to do… so he delayed the inevitable.
Instead, he pressed a gentle kiss against his mark on her shoulder. He admired the sheen of moonstone on her skin. It was the clear as day that they were fated mates. Nobody could take that away from them, not even the World Council no matter how hard they tried. They couldn’t interfere. It was tradition and they upheld their archaic traditions like laws.
She sighed, her body shifting as she awoke. He watched as her eyes fluttered open, taking in the fading light. He knew her body had to be aching and sore. Sebastian had returned to Crimson Moon in his stead to hold down pack affairs until her heat broke. He had checked in with him via mindlink and Sebastian had told him that the World Council had not yet made a move, but he had received many calls in his absence from other Alphas and their packs.
They had all seen the video. The circulation of the video feed of the event was a battle cry to the packs and all of them were ready to move against the World Council. They had heard loud and clear his intentions. He was surprised that so many packs were ready to join him.
“What did I miss?” she asked, rolling in his arms until she faced him.
He sighed, wanting desperately not to speak of what awaited them when they returned. His eyes dropped to his bite mark and he was able to see it for all its beauty. A pride smile crossed his mouth and he realized that they would cope with war together.
Together, they were stronger.
Together, they would find a way to handle what was expected of him, her, and them. They would be the guiding light in a revolution that he had knowingly started.
He kissed her forehead then looked deep into her eyes. “The beginning of a revolution.”
Her eyes widened at that. Her mouth dropped open. His heart twisted at the incredulous look on her face. She frowned for a moment before a soft chuckle escaped through her lips and he raised his eyebrows in question at her reaction. Was this little shewolf laughing at the start of a war?
“Are you telling me that I went through my first heat for nothing?” she asked in amusement.
He opened his mouth to argue at that, but he stopped as the reality of their situation crashed around him. This all started because the Elder Council was demanding him to choose a Luna and produce a blood heir to ensure the pack’s survival. The laws that govern the Elder Council were the ones that were pushed by the World Council.
If it hadn’t been for the Elder Council and World Council’s interference, they may never have been forced into this position. He would’ve never found out Raina was keeping secrets from him. He smirked, that was the only thing he’d give them credit for. Their meddling brought them together.
His hand caressed a path down her back and across her waist until his fingers grazed her stomach. Her eyes widened as his fingers pressed down against her flesh.
“Whether my heir is growing inside you or not,” he whispered to her and she swallowed at his intensity. “It was never for nothing. It led me to you.” He leaned down, capturing her mouth with his. Kissing her breathless until he pulled back, letting his puffs air brush over her bruised lips. “Richmond Amato is dead at the hands of my father and his Beta. Two members of the World Council are dead by the hands of the pack.”
Her eyes flicked to his, startled by that. “Kian—”
“Octavius Amato is dead,” he interrupted and her eyes flashed at that. Her breath caught. “I murdered him right in front of Mia and watched her pretty dress get soaked in the blood of her dead brother.”
She licked her lips. Heat flared in her eyes. Kian growled low at the lust in them, enjoying the sick enjoyment in them. Moon, yes, she was the moon. No, she was his moon. She was the darkness and the luminance. She was wickedness and fairness wrapped in one.
She was his Luna.
He lifted her leg and she hooked it over his him while he pushed himself inside of her. Her hand immediately went to grip his shoulder as he thrust up against her. He watched her pleasure color her face so beautifully. Her pleasure mingled with his as he continued to thrust up into her.
Her mouth pressed against his for a moment.
“Why?” she moaned.
He groaned, thrusting deep inside her. “Because I thought you were dead, Raina.” Absolute shock overtook her features, stalling her momentarily. Her body tensed in not the way he wanted. He smirked darkly at her expression. “I couldn’t feel you when Jacqueline cloaked you.”
“I-I didn’t know that you…” she trailed off. He pushed her on her back, feeling her legs wrap around his waist instinctively, as he rocked into her, causing her to tense around him. “I was in heat, Kian. I didn’t want to distract you. I--”
He kissed her, tasting her excuses. He chuckled bitterly as he continued to punish her with his thrusts. “I meant what I said. If you do that again, I’ll chain you to the bed and you won’t be walking for days. You think you’re going to be sore now, just you wait.”
This was the thousandth time Raina had watched the video footage of Kian murdering Octavius in front of Mia. It was sick. It truly was sick, but she enjoyed every single time she watched it. Kian had set their world on fire with his actions — all because he thought she was dead. She had watched the heartbreaking moment when he roared at Elder Richmond that she was dead. The pain in his voice before he shifted into his wolf. At the end when his wolf howled in both pain, despair, and grief and the rest of the pack howled with him, it broke her heart.
She hadn’t known that he couldn’t feel her anymore. She hadn’t realized his bond was more developed than hers. Maybe it was because she had gone through the trauma of being betrayed that she didn’t feel him yet like he felt her. She was still healing, learning to trust her fated mate with her entire soul.
Kian and her finally come downstairs mid morning. The delicious smell of breakfast tempted them as they found Samson and Meri digging into their meal. The moment Meri saw them, her head dipped in shame as she bowed to them. Tears filled her eyes as she glanced over at Kian then shifted to Raina.
“I-I was just going,” she whispered meekly.
Samson glanced over at Kian, studying him as he waited for him to make a move. The defensiveness in his stance wasn’t lost on either Raina or Kian. Samson’s protectiveness of her showed how much he cared for her. The fact he willingly laid down his life to protect Meri spoke volumes.
When Meri went to leave, Raina elbowed Kian, who sighed in frustration.
“Stop,” Kian told her. “Come. Eat.”
Meri’s eyes widened at that. “Alpha, I…”
“It’s not your fault,” he finally admitted. Raina watched Samson’s body relax. “Raina told me everything that happened. I would’ve wanted you to stay here.”
Raina knew that was as much of an apology Meri and Samson would get. Kian had told her that he almost killed Meri if it hadn’t been for Sebastian and Samson stepping in. He had also told her that he and Samson duked it out and how Meri put her life on the line for Samson.
She watched as Meri slowly sat back down next to Samson. Kian smirked, glancing back and forth between them.
“So have you discussed it yet?” he asked them. Raina watched both Meri and Samson look up. He raised an eyebrow at them. “Are you staying here?”
Meri swallowed, glancing at Samson before her eyes returned to Kian then to Raina. “I-I wasn’t asked to stay. Am I exiled?”
“No, of course not,” Raina told her.
“If you’re not staying, I expect you to continue being Raina’s body guard,” Kian told her and Meri relaxed at that.
Raina glanced over at Samson, who tensed at the idea of Meri leaving. Samson’s eyes met hers and she raised an eyebrow at him. He only smirked in response as he ate the rest of his food in silence. He could try to act like he wasn’t affected by the possibility of Meri leaving, but Raina knew better. She had a feeling Kian would be finding a new personal body guard for her sooner rather than later.
As she dished out some food on her plate, the spoon clattered against the table as a scream echoed through the castle. Samson was already on his feet, racing out of the room. When another scream echoed, her eyes met Kian’s dark ones in fear.
