CHAPTER 6
ABBY POV.
I didn’t know how to describe it, but when he left me alone in the bedroom to answer the knocking at the door, I felt alone and craved his presence almost immediately. I stared towards the empty door frame and sighed before giving myself a mental shake to snap out of it. I started to get out of bed when I gasped at a stinging sensation on my neck and I flinched when my fingers glided over a sore spot where my neck connected with my shoulder. “What the…?” I uttered and got up before rushing to the nearest mirror. There was an angry red and swollen spot on my neck. What a love bite! I thought.
I quickly started to look for my clothes, just as another male voice reached my ears, but it was too low to hear what was being said. My dress was the easiest item to find as it was in the middle of the floor and so were my shoes, but to my horror, I found my panties on the other side of the room where it was undoubtedly thrown and landed under the dresser… and it was torn. It was completely ruined, and I groaned internally. I looked around and I felt relieved when my eyes landed on my bra. To my relief, it was still intact, and I quickly put it on before sliding my blue dress over my head, careful of my neck.
“THAT IS BULLSHIT!” I heard Marcus yell from the front of the house. A protective feeling fell over me and without a second thought, I quickly grabbed my shoes and put them on and ran from the room. I only realized what I had done when I had reached the living room and there he was… Marcus was standing in nothing but shorts, looking hot and angry, and across from him, seated in one of the chairs was an older gentleman who bore a resemblance to Marcus. The man hushed Marcus and quickly shot to his feet and… and he looked happy to see me. He had kindness in his eyes and had a genuine smile and I suddenly felt out of place. Marcus had turned and was now also looking at me and my face heated up at the look he was giving me up and down and I felt myself stir lustfully. How the hell did the man get me so riled up with just one look? I asked myself before I realized that I was still just standing there like an idiot.
“S- Sorry.” I stumbled as I looked between them. “I heard raised voices. I thought… well, I’m not sure what I was thinking. I’m just going to go.” I said feeling embarrassed and looked to the only means of escape and was starting to move towards the cabin door.
“Please don’t be sorry my dear.” The older man said, stopping me in my tracks and giving me a wide smile before looking at Marcus. “Marcus? Aren’t you going to introduce me to your lovely companion?” The man said and even though he spoke politely, I could hear a stern undertone in it. “Yes, yes of course.” Marcus said, looking as though he had just gotten out of a daze and he gave me a reassuring smile as he made his way over to me.
My heart skipped when he reached for my hand and lifted it to his lips and I had to take a deep breath through my nose to try and steady my heart rate but I couldn’t help the gasp when my name rolled off his tongue and he smirks knowingly at me, almost like he knew what he was doing to me. “Abby. This is my father, Marius Moonlock.” He said and I swear the ground could have swallowed me whole in that minute and I would not have cared. HIS FATHER!? I thought as I cringed on the inside. “Uh… Oh, N-nice to meet you, sir.
I stumble as I look towards the older version of the man that I have just spent the night with and I know how I must look… all ruffled and I was sure that I reeked of sex. If my state bothered him, he didn’t let it show, instead, he smiled brightly and came forward and took my hand but instead of shaking my hand he pulled me towards him and I gasped in shock when he hugged me. I wasn’t usually one for hugs but this felt… nice. For some reason, I knew he was genuinely happy to meet me and that this was a heartfelt hug. When he let go, he looked down at me and I felt Marcus wrap an arm around me. when I looked up at him, he smiled down at me warmly before addressing his father again.
“So, what did you say about breakfast?” Marcus said and I looked towards his father. “Oh, yes… Kate has asked all of us to attend.” Marius said and I suddenly felt the mood change and my stomach turn as I felt like I was just thrown with a glass of cold water. “More like demanded.” Marcus said and I saw him clench his jaw in annoyance. “Very well.” He said and looked down at me where I was still tucked under his arm. “Fancy some breakfast?” He asked and smirked down at me. I swallowed as I felt warm and safe and… something else fluttered inside of me, but there was also the next problem that had me shaking my head. “I’m sorry, I can’t… I need to get home and… uhm. I just need to go.” I said as I forced myself out from under his arm. Marcus and his father, both looked disappointedly at me until I saw realization dawned on his face and he face-palmed himself, causing his father to look at him. “Of course, yes. I’m sorry, I forgot.” He said and I smiled a grateful smile at him for not making me say it out loud again. “Abby will have to take a raincheck on breakfast, but I am sure that she will be able to come to dinner.” He said and my heart fluttered at the way he looked at me. “How about tonight?” Marcus asked and I swallowed.
I wanted to, I really did, but wasn’t this going a little too fast? Besides I had something else that I had to do tonight anyway. I thought as I looked at both men in turn. They both looked hopeful. “I… I can’t.” I finally said and the disappointment was clear on their faces. “It’s my parent’s anniversary today and we are having a little get-together tonight to celebrate.” I said and Marius nodded his head in understanding. Marcus nodded too. “We’ll do dinner another time.” I said and Marius looked at his son and clasped a hand on his shoulder. “Then it is settled. Marcus?” He said and addressed his son. “It is best not to keep the others waiting for too long so I will go on ahead.” He said before addressing me with a gentle smile again. “It was a pleasure to meet you, Abby. I hope to see you soon.” He said and I felt myself being hugged again before he swiftly left the little house and only Marcus and I were alone again.
“Thank you.” I said and he bowed his head in understanding before dropping a kiss on my lips. It was wonderful to feel his lips on mine and I suddenly regretted that I had to leave, but we both had things to do. Besides, I didn’t want to see Kate or Josh again so soon. “Come on, I’ll take you home.” He said and I smiled gratefully at him before he quickly dropped another kiss on my lips and sprinted off to the bedroom to get dressed.
