Chapter Forty-Three

Cirdan:

I was sitting, arms hugging my legs to my chest, staring at the wall of my room when the news came in.

No, that was not right, I have taken this position for days now, ever since I was released home, I haven’t really talked, eaten, or moved. I kept my mind blank, and it helped with the pain.

“Cirdan, the king is here for you.” My mother said softly, and it took me some minutes to process her words, what was the king looking for.

It took me some more minutes to make myself presentable and then I presented myself to the king who was pacing the foyer like he had a lot on his mind.

He was a king, and he must have a lot on his mind.

“Your majesty.” I announced my presence as I swept into a low bow that almost had me stumbling, my stomach growled, I haven’t been eating much.

“I am going to be your father in-law, stop with the titles. I came here to ask for a favor.” He stated.

“Of course, sir, anything.” I responded.

“Tell me everything you saw in Iris Aura and why you wanted to meet her.”

“You noticed it too.” I asked, my shoulders relaxing a bit. If her father knew something was wrong with her, he would not stop until everything was alright in his baby girl’s life too.

“I didn’t notice anything from her, but I noticed from her mother. Something is going on regarding Iris, what did you see in her Aura?”

“It was strange, like she was depressed or possessed. The black patches didn’t move or lighten, I am scared for her.” I admitted looking at the kings straight into his eyes so he would see how scared I was.

The king nodded. “I thought as much. This means I should go ahead with searching against Nambra?”

“What?” I asked, understanding only few of the mumbled words.

“I think the queen is doing something to Iris, that was why she could not give me a direct answer.”

“What?” I asked confused.

The king told me everything, from the reason they came to his suspicions.

It left a cold feeling in my spine. If what the king was suspecting was true, this is a terrible time for me to be away from Iris.

King Elros:

The evidence was in front of me, but I couldn’t believe my eyes. There was never an attack against Nambra, she purposely brought us back for nothing. No not nothing, she wants something from Iris, something that is relating to the reason for Iris black outs.

I was so furious that I was shaking. I thought to protect my daughter, but I never thought to protect her from those that would hurt her the most.

And right on top of that list was her mother’s name.

Nambra, the woman I am shaking so much to confront but it will do me no good to go storming in there and shaking some sense into her.

I need to know the reason why before I shake her within an inch of her life and hopefully shake her sense into the right track because she was supposed to love her daughter not cause her harm.

I appeared next to her doors, bypassing the compound security. Shouts went up at the breech but when they saw that it was me, they wisely backed off. The council is known to show up at each other doorsteps with anger blazing in their eyes but since me and Nambra had a child together, anytime any of us appear in each other home, the guards shrugged it off and not even bother with informing their ruler, after all we were co-parenting a teen.

“Nambra.” I roared as soon as I opened the door of her courtyard, the place where she holds most of her rulings. Surrounded by beautiful nature but it never did hide the blackness in her soul.

“You do know that it is night and unlike the folks, we fae can’t magick our appearance to hide dark circles from not sleeping in our eyes, we need our beauty sleep, and your shout and heavy footsteps is not just disturbing my people but me too.”

Screw it, I would get to the root of her lies later, she needs a good shake right now. I strode to her and grabbed a very good hold on her shoulders and then I shook her like a rag doll.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” I yelled into her face.

A light blasted off from her as I stumbled back from her while she landed on her knees. “Good gracious what the hell is wrong with you?”

“What is wrong with me?” I asked her surprised. “What is wrong with you, you psycho? If you needed to build a connection with your daughter, you did not need to lie that wild fae is after you, threaten me that if anything happens to you, our naïve daughter will inherit your throne and all the poisonous barbs that comes with it. You definitely did not need to pay people to attack you, how could you have gone that far?” I snapped at her.

I watched as the poker face of hers fell over her face once more. I always hated that blandness, it was there the night she told me she was pregnant, it was also there the video she created to tell me and two-year-old Iris that she has gone back abandoning us in the earth realm.

“What are you talking about?”

“What am I talking about?” I looked at the mother of my child in amazement, could she be serious right now? “I am talking about your lies, I know okay, I know that you are behind her black outs, I don’t know why or how but that is what I am here to find out.”

“You really had me investigated didn’t you?” She asked softly, like she was thinking.

Before I could talk, her hands spread out and crystal suddenly appeared surrounding me. I didn’t need to reach out to touch the barrier before knowing what it was.

The bitch just entrapped me. I raised my head to look at her. “What the hell do you think that you are doing?”

“Telling you the why and how. That is what you are interested in, are you not?” She asked with a maniacal laughter.

Something was different about her, like a mask has been taken off or something. What have I gotten myself into without thinking?
