Chapter 100 - HEIRESS'S SECOND CHANCE BILLIONAIRE
EPILOGUE-“Heiress’s Second Chance Billionaire.”
FIVE YEARS LATER.
Isabella Kingston.
Christian and I’s second wedding took place two months after he had proposed. If it was up to him, we would have gotten married that very week he proposed. But, we came to an agreement that our second wedding won’t be like the first.
It will be genuine; it will be for us.
So, to begin with, we narrowed down the guest list to only those closest to us, those that matter to us and have been with us through our most difficult phases. And as such, it became just the Kingstons, two friends of Christian, Carter of course from his side. From mine, I did not have much aside from Bea—my only bridesmaid given Amy’s absence and then the one whom walked me down the isle—the only father figure I have, and the only parent figure as well, Anderson.
They were the only ones present at the wedding. It took place in the backyard of the Kingston manse, and despite the intimacy, we took the details of great importance. Wedding planning certain has been hectic, and only then did I realize how little I cared about my first wedding because I’ve been on my feet for the second one, despite Gloria and Grace’s much appreciated help.
By the end of it all, the event was pretty much the wedding of my dream, though there was a moment of tears that I could not help—as I remembered the absence of my father and Amy, both away for two different reasons.
Amy is basically one call away, and albeit considered an assistant and a friend all this while, I haven’t realized just how attached I have become to her till she was no longer around. To say I miss her would be an understatement, but I am beyond glad she has found a life for herself.
As loving as she can be, she truly did not have much of a life when she was here.
Speaking of lives, five months after the wedding, Christian welcomed the newest addition to our family. Ryan Edward Kingston—our first child and the cutest child I have ever laid my eyes on.
Certainly, I never understood what true, and love at first sight is till I laid my eyes on him for the very first time and held him in my arms. Suddenly, all the hours spent during labor did not matter so much. The pain, and the mood swings I have suffered those past nine months did not matter when I saw Christian hold Ryan in his arms. I did make a promise then to never pop out another child because of the pain I suffered.
Did I mention he cried? He certainly did. Grace even caught it on camera—a video she wanted to use and blackmail him but it did not work because he is not embarrassed of it in the slightest.
You know it is always the standard daddy’s princess and mommy’s boy, yeah? Well, in our case, it is more like daddy’s boy. I have never seen someone obsessed with their kid the way Christian is obsessed with Ryan. It is cute how he stays up late to pet him to sleep despite his own very busy schedule just so I can sleep, and how he will wake up the next morning and go to work still.
During the early days, he was the one who took a break from work so I can return and handle the Group’s issues while he became a stay at home husband and catered for our son.
Perhaps, it was how doting and affectionate Christian have been, but remember that promise I made to not pop out any other child? Yeah…that one.
I gave birth to another bouncing baby boy two years later, our second born, Leon. Somehow, the gentleness I thought I had born them both with shrugged off over the years as they grew up, and I found myself realizing just how tedious it is to cater to boys as kids.
“RYAN! GET BACK HERE!” My voice at this point will soon be gone at the rate at which I go around the house chasing those two, or more like the eldest in particular.
One minute Ryan was in front of me—supposedly helping me prepare dinner and the next, he had sneakily taken a cookie and was running away. And Little Leon as always being a cute copycat simply followed his brother, running behind him while chuckling.
I am certain he does not even understand what is going on, but Ryan running away and me chasing them apparently is what he finds to be humorous, because he ran faster, his giggles filling the air along with his brother’s.
They did not make it far though, because their shrieks came, and I realized what was going on even before I saw it. A second later, Christian appeared with Leon in his arms and Ryan’s hand holding his while he trailed quietly behind him.
They came to stand in front of me, and Christian’s voice came, “Go ahead. Apologize to Mommy.”
Ryan peeked from behind his father with a cheeky smile, “I am sorry, Mommy,”
“And what are you apologizing for?” Christian encouraged.
“I am sorry for picking the cookie without asking.”
My frown disappeared, as I leaned down to ruffle his chair. “It is alright, Champ. Just ask the next time before you pick something, okay?”
He nodded, “Alright, Mommy.”
“Good,” I picked another cookie, then handed it to him. I handed a small portion to Leon, despite knowing he will only make a mess of it as Christian dropped him on the floor.
“Thank you, Mommy.”
Leon attempted to mimic what his brother said, but the moment he saw Ryan rush away, he followed after him like he always does. He follows him everywhere I tell you, there is no use trying to separate those two.
With them gone, Christian closed the distance between us, leaning down to kiss me. “Hello, my beautiful wife,” He whispered against my lips.
I smiled back, wrapping my arms around him, “Hello, my darling husband,” I caressed his light stubble with my hand, “How was work today?”
“It was fine,” He breathed out. “Pretty much the same as every day, and I finally got the chance to close the deal with Mrs. Grannis,”
I hummed, the mention of the familiar Mrs. Grannis leaving a sour mood. Zara Rutherford, now married to a business man she somehow met three years ago now identifies as Mrs. Grannis. Recently, Christian is trying to close a deal that has to do with her company, and she has been giving him a tough time.
Apparently, she still holds grudges over being turned down by him five years ago. I believe it is pretty childish if you ask me but, oh well. Whatever sails her boat.
“Enough about that. I just want to spend the rest of my day with my beautiful wife and my kids today. Is that too much to ask?” Christian pulled me closer to him.
I grinned. “No, but help me finish preparing first so we can have dinner together.”
He nodded, placing a quick peck on my lips, “Aye aye, beautiful.” And he went on to help just as he said he would.
Life has pretty much been the same for us, except we have grown and so did our families. Our friends circle grew, and reduced as well. We have had our own happy, and sad days but such is life.
I haven’t heard much from my mom aside from the occasional roses bouquet she sends every once in a while. Turns out the one I received back then was from her as well, and she has made it a tradition to send it every month.
I am not still the biggest fan of hers, but that is the most I could get from her so at one point I stopped throwing it away. Now, I have roses every months delivered that does not leave a bitter taste.
I realized holding onto things will only make me suffer, so I stopped that. I freed my heart of all negativity, and decided to focus on what truly matters. My family.
Christian, my husband, Ryan and Leon, my sons.
They are my life, and I owe it all to Christian. My second Chance Billionaire.
I guess the second time is a charm after all.
THE END.
