Chapter 40 Confession
~~Ezeras's POV~~
My eyes fluttered open; the headache I felt could kill.
I didn’t recall coming home last night; with a soft groan from my mouth, I slowly slipped out of bed.
I yawned and stretched before I slipped into my purple slides on the ground. I looked down at myself.
I wondered when I had taken off my dress.
“You are awake,” Alexander's voice suddenly spoke.
My head snapped up, and a loud shriek escaped my lips. My heart raced as my gaze caught Alexander; he sat on one of the couches in the living area of the suite, his hands crossed, and he wore a stern look on his face.
“Come here,” he commanded in a low tone.
“I…when did you?” I stuttered.
“I stay in the suite across the hall and I found you struggling to get into your bedroom. Does that answer your question? “Now come sit close to me,” he said calmly.
I pressed my hand against my chest. “How…wait, did you undress me?”
“You did; now come sit.” He was growing impatient.
I turned and grabbed the sheet from the bed. “No need to cover up; there is nothing I haven't seen. Your body is beautiful; don't cover it. Come here,” he instructed.
I released the bedsheet and slowly walked to the seat across from him. “What do you want?”
“Why did you go out with soldiers? " He asked, almost like I was being interviewed.
“I didn't want to bother them.”
His head tilted to the side. “Bother? You got touched in places only I….” He immediately pressed his lips together in regret. “I mean, you got groped.”
I pinched my skin. How did he know that?
He stood up from his seat and came to mine. “If you cannot take Damien’s soldiers to protect you, then you can take mine.” He held my hand.
“I…I can't; you are an enemy.” I watched his face falter as I said that, “And also…..
I can't take them; I wanted to be alone, that's all.”
“What if you had gotten killed?” His voice was laced with worry.
My heart raced as his hand landed on my thigh. Why did I feel like this with him? I missed him. I missed him so much, and that was why I wanted to drink away the pain. But here he was, sitting in front of me with Theo's big brown eyes and making it difficult to forget him.
“I wouldn't have.” I swallowed.
His hand reached for my chin. “I care about you, Ezera.”
Does he care? How could the same man who said the only thing we had was sex exclaim to care for me?
I pushed his hand away from my face and stood up. “Get out.”
His brow raised, “What?” He stood up to face me.
“I said get out before I do something I’ll regret.”
He scoffed in disbelief, “You don't mean that.”
I lifted my hand and landed a slap on his face. His face reddened, but he didn't move an inch.
His eyes slowly reddened but I couldn't tell if it was anger or pain,“You know, I saw that slap coming from miles away, but I never thought you'd hit me,” he said, turning around and walking to the door, suddenly stopping only a few inches from it.
He turned to face me. “I got you hangover tea; it's in the kitchen.”
I blinked.
“And I think you need to grow up and stop avoiding your feelings.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Last night you said you love me.” He paused and waited to see my expression before he continued, “People say the truth when they are drunk.”
“I don't love you,” I lied in defense.
“Oh really?” His brow raised.
“Really?” I nodded.
“Well, that's a shame… because I think I'm starting to fall for you.”
My heart spiked. “H…huh?”
Before I could say anything else, he walked out and shut the door. I heard the door of the suite opposite open and shut as well, and I instantly fell to my seat.
Did he just say he was falling…for me?
I sat for a few seconds; the only sound in the room was water hitting the sink from the tap. My mind yelled with thoughts until I suddenly summoned courage. I picked up a coat and wrapped it around myself, immediately dashing out of the room.
I reached for the knob of the door opposite and twisted, but it was locked, so I knocked twice.
I felt like I would faint just from waiting, but there was no response. I knocked again and again until my knuckles turned red. “Fuck! Alexander, open up!” I said through my teeth.
Just then I heard the click of a lock, and I froze.
The door creaked as it slowly slid open. Alexander stood before me with his head tilted to the side. “What is it?”
I pushed him aside and walked in. “What did you mean?”
He shut the door.
“About what?”
I began to pace around. “About what you said earlier, you are falling for me?”
As I paced around, he moved towards me and grabbed me. “Stop pacing; you are making me dizzy.”
I parted my lips. “What did you mean by that?”
He looked me dead in the eyes and repeated, “I said I’m falling for you, Ezera.” He swallowed. “In love with you.” His fingers brushed my face. “Even if I try not to.”
“D…do…. I don't…you mean it?” I stuttered.
He cupped my face in his hands and pressed his lips against mine. “I love you…Ezera, and it's not just sex; it's you. You are in my head.” His eyes searched mine. “Do you…feel the same? Or is what you said last night a drunken mistake?”
I held his hand. “I love you too.” He smiled and placed his nose against mine.
“I knew you did.”
I smiled back until his lips covered mine with a kiss. “Oh…and the men who touched you? I took them all out yesterday,” he mumbled against my lips.
I pushed my head back. “What does that mean?”
“I killed them.” He held out two of his fingers like a gun. “Poof. They were gone, just like that”
I tilted my head to the side ,but not completely, my mouth on the other hand was wide with awe, “All five of them?”
He nodded, “All five.”
He carried my hand close to his mouth and kissed it; he grabbed my robe and slid it off me. As it hit the ground, he led me away from it and carried me to the bed; he climbed over me and placed a kiss on my chest.
“I'm going to kiss you everywhere those bastards touched you,” he spoke as he went lower.
I gasped, and my fingers clenched into the sheets.
