THE FINAL GAME
SMOKE'S POV
After I handed Deacon over to Daniel, the weight of my plan pressed heavily on me, but I couldn’t afford to show any doubt. My crew and I returned to the bar, the air thick with tension. Jimmy couldn’t hold back his skepticism any longer.
“Smoke, are you sure this is going to work?” he asked, pacing the room. “Daniel might not see any reason to keep Deacon alive after everything he’s lost. You saw how pissed he was.”
I leaned back in my chair, sipping my drink calmly. “He won’t kill him,” I replied.
Jimmy stopped pacing, staring at me. “How can you be so sure?”
I smirked. “Because Daniel’s smart enough to know Deacon is an asset. Killing him would be a waste, and Daniel doesn’t waste opportunities.”
Jimmy shook his head, still unconvinced. “Man, I hope you’re right. This is a dangerous gamble.”
“It’s not a gamble,” I said, my voice firm. “It’s strategy. Now sit down and trust the plan.”
Deacon’s Gamble
Meanwhile, Deacon found himself in the middle of a dark warehouse, tied to a chair with Daniel and his men cir”ling him like vultures.
“You’ve cost me more than you’re worth, Deacon,” Daniel snarled, his gun pointed directly at Deacon’s chest. “Give me one reason why I shouldn’t pull this trigger.”
Deacon, bloodied but unfazed, grinned. “Because I can help you get everything back.”
Daniel paused, lowering the gun slightly. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“I know Smoke,” Deacon said. “I know how he operates, where he keeps his stashes, and who his key players are. I can give you everything you need to bring him down.”
Daniel narrowed his eyes, studying him carefully. “And why would you betray Smoke for me?”
“Because Smoke betrayed me first,” Deacon said smoothly. “He used me as a pawn, threw me into the fire without a second thought. I owe him nothing.”
Daniel tapped the barrel of his gun against Deacon’s temple, thinking. After a long moment, he signaled his men to untie him.
“You’ve got one chance to prove you’re worth keeping alive,” Daniel said. “Don’t screw it up.”
The Inside Man
Deacon didn’t waste any time. Over the next few weeks, he gained Daniel’s trust while feeding me valuable intel. He gave me details about Daniel’s operations, his movements, and most importantly, his weaknesses.
One night, during a secret meeting, Deacon dropped a bombshell.
“Smoke, Daniel has leverage on you,” he said.
I frowned. “What kind of leverage?”
“He has a flash drive,” Deacon explained. “It contains video footage of Lena killing that guy. If he releases it, she’s done for.”
My jaw tightened. That footage was the only thing tying Lena to this mess, and Daniel knew it.
“Can you get to it?” I asked.
Deacon nodded. “I’ve seen where he keeps it. Give me time, and I’ll take care of it.”
The Deal
I knew the risks of working with Deacon, but I didn’t have a choice.
“If you pull this off,” I told him, “I’ll give you 50% of my business. But if you double-cross me, you’re dead.”
Deacon smirked. “Relax, Smoke. We’re on the same side here. Daniel’s as much my enemy as he is yours.”
I didn’t fully trust him, but for now, he was my best shot at taking Daniel down.
The Heist
The night Deacon was set to retrieve the flash drive, my crew and I were on high alert. Deacon had worked his way into Daniel’s inner circle, gaining access to his private office.
Using the codes he’d memorized during his time with Daniel, Deacon cracked the safe and retrieved the flash drive.
Meanwhile, I waited with my crew nearby, ready to strike if anything went wrong.
“Deacon’s signal will be the green light,” I told Jimmy and Charles. “Once he’s out, we move in.”
Deacon’s call came through moments later. “The drive is destroyed,” he said. “It’s over.”
“Good,” I replied. “Get out of there and meet us at the rendezvous.”
The Final Move
With the flash drive gone, Daniel had lost his leverage. But I wasn’t about to let him walk away unscathed.
We stormed Daniel’s hideout with precision, taking out his men one by one. Daniel, caught off guard, tried to make a run for it but found himself cornered.
“You thought you could outsmart me?” he sneered, aiming his gun at me.
I stared him down, unfazed. “Your mistake was underestimating me.”
Deacon appeared at my side, holding up the destroyed flash drive. “Game over, Daniel.”
Daniel’s face twisted with rage, but he had no moves left.
“You played a dangerous game,” I said, stepping closer. “And you lost.
The Aftermath
With Daniel out of the picture, the city was mine. The feds had lost their inside man, and Lena was finally free fro
m the threat of that footage.
Deacon and I split the business as agreed, and for now, there was peace.
