Chapter nine

Olivia

“What was the meaning of that?” I yelled angrily, facing my brother squarely now as I entered his room, I saw him fully dressed and sitting on his bed though, so the thought that probably something was happening between he and the maid was getting out of my head, but I was angry for another reason too, why would he delay me just because a maid was indoors with him, he could have told me to enter while he finished up whatever business he and the maid were on about, then I started to actually think back if there was indeed something else that was actually going on between them, for one, I don’t see why in the seven hells he picked this particular tramp of a lady.

“Olivia, calm down, don’t raise your voice at me” he said calmly but dead serious, he continued though, “Now, what was the meaning of what? Don’t I have the right to do what I want anymore in this house? huh? It is my house to as well isn’t it? And like I told you, she is in fact my personal maid, the word personal is there for a reason isn’t it?” he said to me with pretty much the same demeanor, I didn’t like it, it felt like I was being handled.

“I know you have the same right as me in the house but then why would you prioritize a maid over me?” I asked him still furious but my voice was considerably lower than before.

“Wait a minute, Liv, how is it your business what I do or say with a maid? Besides, what brought abut this uhn? What do you mean by I prioritized a maid over you? You are my sister, she is a maid, the difference is distinct so how the heck is there any prioritization in what just happened? Why are you being like this Liv?” he said and it was clear and obvious that he was fully frustrated.

“I’m not being anyhow I just don’t know how you will be with a maid indoors and tell me to wait outside, what in God’s name do I know that you are doing? Something dubious I’m sure, so I’m only looking out for you as a sister would do for her brother, I wouldn’t want your reputation to get marred, and no one knows what all these filth of maids could pull just to get some money from us through blackmail” I said and the look he gave me after was murderous.

“You are really unbelievable, really outrageous thinking you’ve got there, I really don’t know how you could possibly think like that, you say you’re looking out for me? But tell me, how do you do it from all the way across the continent when you’re in school? How do you look out for me then? What if I had screwed every maid we had in the house while you were away? Uhn? Who was looking out for me then? Listen Liv, I don’t need your nagging and pointless “looking out for” I’ve been doing so very well without you here and when you go back, I’ll still be okay, so keep your “look out” to yourself” he said fuming up, somehow, his words stung me deeply. I thought he understood my unsaid words when I said I was only looking out for him.

“Really? Victor ? Is that what you’d say to me?” I asked teary and hurt, “I really thought you’d understand me and what I actually meant by looking out for you, I can’t believe you just said all that to me” I said and turned to leave. I had no sooner gotten to the door that I felt his cold hand on mine, stopping me, I was scared beyond my wits because I know why he could move with such otherworldly speed like that, I also thought he was so angry that he had been triggered, if so I was probably going to die, instead…

“Olivia, wait” I heard him say in a much calmer voice and slowly I turned to look at him, his skin slowly went from a very pale caramel back to the normal slightly pale caramel, I couldn’t bare to look him in the eyes because I know those would be even more scary, “See, what I mean now?” I said with a small voice.

“C’mon Olivia, I would never be careless enough to lose myself in the presence of any other person aside from you and our parents, you thinking I’d be so careless as to reveal myself makes me feel offended a bit, like I’m being undermined, it is my secret after all isn’t it?” he said and I could hear deep emotions in his voice, I finally got the courage to look up to his eyes and it was a relief to find out they were their normal honey brown.

“Hey, it is our secret, not just yours” I replied him and brought a hand to his cheek which he closed with his own hand as well, I love my brother, so very much, but as much a I loved him, I feared him just as much, I tend to forget most times just how volatile he has become, and he surely didn’t deserve that this should happen to him.

“Don’t let us allow a maid come in between us okay? You are my sister and you’ll forever be my sister, no matter what happens between me and another person, you’ll be my priority, just let there be boundaries, I am my own person too and I need to be free to do as I wish as well, ok?” He said affirmatively.

“Alright bro, you know I love you right?” I said and he nodded firmly with a huge smile “Ok so actually, I initially came to tell you that mom called and she said they’ll be coming home next week. They’re coming back to celebrate my coming back home I guess” I said genuinely happy.

“Or, they are done with business overseas for now and are returning home naturally” he said with a chuckle and I pouted.

“Nope, I am very sure they are coming home for me, been a while they saw their angelic princess “ I said twirling around with joy, already leaving what happened a few moments ago in the past.

“Wow, really? An angel and a princess, can’t decide on one innit?” he said with a British accent, I knew he was definitely mocking me, so I pouted playfully once again.

“well yeah, I am the princess of the house and the life around here, everyone knows I bring all the fun, you are very boring as a person, so to everyone I’m an angel, a fun one, hence, the title, angelic princess” I said and stuck out my tongue at him to which he just laughed.

“Alright bro, I’ll get out of you hair now, and I’m still waiting on you to change your mind as regards the outing I and Bayley are to embark on, it promises to be intense and fun” I said still joyous and making a catlike face so he’d be moved into agreeing.

“That is exactly what I’m afraid of, your intensity and level of fun beats mine totally, I still haven’t forgotten the last time despite it being years ago” he said while chuckling, I really can’t blame him though, this particular experience he was referring to was worth for him not to ever agree to another outing proposed by me ever again.

“Ok bro, ok, but I’m still holding out hope that you will still change your mind” I said as I started to leave his room, he just chuckled some more while shaking his head.

I closed the door behind me and took a deep breath, phew, thank goodness things didn’t get out of hand, I was still shaking a bit, I wondered if he would have noticed that.

Now, for the maid that thinks she can come from nowhere and start causing issues in this house, especially between Victor and me, no way was I going to allow that, I need to make her understand some things, forcefully.
