Chapter 301 301
Chapter 301 301
Oscar
I don't take my eyes off the screen. I need that damn light to come on before I lose the last shred of sanity I have left. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Pablo escort Raina to the infirmary to have Jenkins remove the explosives from her neck. Yes, she was only following Samuel's orders because he threatened to kill her if she didn't do it. The girl gave us all the information she had about where the bastard operates from, although she doesn't know the exact location. She is always transported blindfolded.
Now we know the layout of the house and how many men are inside. All we’re missing is the location, and for that, the damn light needs to come on.
“Shouldn’t the tracker have been activated by now?” I ask impatiently.
“Relax, give it time,” Angy mutters.
Everyone else around me seems to be keeping a cool head. Zeldric, Alex, Lagos, and Beni—who arrived just a few minutes ago—are sitting on the couch, waiting for the green light to go get Luna. I look at all of them, their faces bruised because of me, their expressions serious. They’re my family, even if part of me still wants to rip some of their heads off for touching what’s mine.
I exhale hard and try to calm my mind. I’m too worked up, and that’s not good for keeping the voices in check.
Don’t try to silence all of them. I can help you. With your strength and my brains, no one can stop us.
I roll my eyes, and my heart skips a beat when a red light starts blinking on the map.
“There it is,” Angy smiles, her fingers flying over the keyboard. “They’re in a house on the outskirts of Tucson, near Oro Valley, off the I-10.”
We move out immediately. What should’ve been a two-hour drive turns into less than ninety minutes thanks to Beni’s driving skills. The guy might be an idiot, but he drives like a goddamn professional. Angy and Ness are guiding us remotely, and Jenkins is still operating on Raina, so we don’t have her help yet—at least for now.
As soon as the vehicle stops in front of the massive wall surrounding the house, we all realize this won’t be easy. Raina told us there were about twenty men inside, but I could already see at least ten more in the garden.
Beni hides the SUV in a thick wooded area a short distance away, and we make the rest of the way on foot. Alex, Lagos, and Zeldric are armed to the teeth—with assault rifles, handguns, and I’m pretty sure I saw a hand grenade too. Beni only has his signature rings on his left hand, and I’m carrying my usual pistol tucked into the back of my pants and a hunting knife strapped to my belt. I don’t need more. I could take down all those bastards with my bare hands.
“All right, I’m here,” Jenkins’s voice comes through the earpieces we’re all wearing.
“How’s Raina?” I ask.
“She’s fine. I managed to remove the explosives. She’s still sedated, but she should wake up soon. How are you guys doing?”
“We’re assessing the area,” Zeldric replies.
“Well, look at you finally learning something.” Zeldric rolls his eyes at the condescending tone in his wife’s voice, and Alex lets out a mocking laugh. “Find the least guarded entry point.”
“I’ve got the property’s original blueprints and satellite images of the exterior, but they’re not real-time,” Angy chimes in. “I can guide you.”
“I doubt that’ll help. We have no idea where Luna is being held,” Lagos points out.
“Look for a private room,” Ness says. “I know guys like Samuel Sandoval. He’s waited years to have his sister under his control again. He’ll want to show her off to his men. These sick bastards think they’re more ‘manly’ the more they humiliate their victims.”
I growl low and clench my fists.
What the hell are you doing just standing here? Go get Luna! She’s right inside, just a few feet away. Screw reconnaissance and entry points—run in there and kill anyone who stands in your way!
I start walking, my steps are heavy and determined.
“Where the hell is he going?” Beni asks.
“To get Luna,” Alex replies. “If my wife were in there with her rapist, I sure as hell wouldn’t just be standing here waiting around.”
“Shit!” I hear someone—Zeldric or Lagos—curse, but I don’t care.
I vault the stone wall in one leap and draw my gun. I take down two guys before I even hit the ground.
“Try not to kill too many,” Jenkins’s voice says.
I just grunt, but it’s Zeldric, who’s caught up with me and shoots a guy poking out from the back door, who answers her.
“Babe, can’t promise that.”
“Figures,” Jenkins mutters. “Just come back in one piece. All of you.”
We enter the house and are immediately surrounded by a group of men. I move ahead, and before they can draw their weapons, I’ve already taken them down. Some with my knife, others with a single hit. Most are still alive—but that’s what the others are for. I keep pushing forward, taking down everyone in my path, and I hear gunshots behind me as my team finishes off anyone still breathing.
“What exactly are we even doing here? He’s taking care of it by himself,” Beni says.
I toss a guy backward after headbutting him, and immediately after, I hear a rifle detonate—probably Alex’s.
“We’re support or something like that,” he replies.
The house is massive, and I navigate through it with Angy’s voice in my ear guiding me. My goal is to find Luna as quickly as possible, but instead, I spot Samuel first. His men start shooting at us, and we’re forced to take cover in a hallway lined with open doors.
“Now what?” Lagos pants.
Chunks of plaster and paint explode with every bullet hitting the walls.
“We flank them,” Zeldric suggests.
“The hell we do! Samuel is right there. I’m not letting him escape again,” Alex hisses. “That bastard owes me. He’s going to pay for what he did to my wife.”
I dash across the hall, not caring about the bullets whizzing past me, and grab Alex by the collar threateningly.
“Samuel is mine,” I growl in his face. “You can toy with him all you want, but I want him alive.” He nods, and I let go.
“I can distract them,” Beni says, catching our attention. He swipes a hand grenade from Alex and casually tosses it into the air, catching it again like we’re not in the middle of a goddamn shootout. He looks calm as ever. “I’ll sneak out one of the windows and give them a little scare with this.” He tosses the grenade again and catches it. “Should be enough to finish them off.”
“Are you insane?!” Zeldric exclaims, ducking as bullets graze the frame he’s using for cover. He fires off a burst with his rifle before turning back to his younger brother. “You want to die? You can’t go alone, and not unarmed.”
