Chapter 25 I Don't Want to Have a Miscarriage Anymore
Aria's hand trembled, and she dropped the pills onto the table, quickly reaching for her phone.
Who could be calling this late?
An uncontrollable thought popped into her head.
Could it be Arthur's mother? Maybe Mrs. Moore lied about keeping it confidential, then told Elizabeth, who quickly called to stop her?
This thought made her both nervous and... relieved, as if she finally had an excuse to keep this child.
However, when the screen lit up, it showed an unfamiliar number.
"...Hello?"
"Hello, is this the owner of the vehicle with license plate ending in xxx? Your car is blocking the way, please move it."
A businesslike male voice came through the phone.
A call to move her car.
Aria held the phone, frozen in place.
The white fluorescent light in the examination room shone on her face, revealing a look of absurd blankness.
The tiny bit of hope that had just surged in her heart instantly shattered like bubbles.
"Ma'am? Are you listening?"
"...Yes, I... I'll go move it right away." She agreed and hung up the phone.
"Who was it?" Summer came over to ask.
Aria snapped back to reality, looking at the two small pills thrown on the table, her voice distant. "Someone asking me to move my car."
Summer also let out a breath. "You scared me. Looking at your expression, I thought it was something serious."
"You wait here, I'll go move it. Take the pills."
"Okay..."
Summer went out, and Aria walked out in a daze, holding the pills and the prescription the doctor had given her.
Outside, Mrs. Moore had already left.
Aria sat in a chair outside, staring at the pills, but many things flashed before her eyes.
Sometimes it was the blurry smiling face of a child, other times it was Arthur's cold stare...
Her mind was chaotic and confused, with various voices fighting in her head.
But these two tiny pills seemed to weigh a thousand pounds, impossible to pick up or swallow.
A voice in her heart desperately shouted.
No! That's not it!
This child isn't a mistake, isn't a disgrace!
This is my child. In just a few more months, he'll become a cute little baby who looks like me.
He carries my love and my blood.
Why should she kill her own child with her own hands for the sake of other people's opinions, for a man who doesn't even love her?!
Tears streaming down her face, she sat in the chair crying uncontrollably.
She just couldn't accept it, just couldn't bear to part with the child.
When Summer came back after moving the car, she saw Aria crying miserably, with the two pills thrown on the floor.
"Aria?"
Aria looked up, her lips trembling badly, crying out. "Summer, I don't want to have an abortion anymore. This is my child! I love him, and it has nothing to do with anyone else!"
"Having my love is enough. I'll protect him, and no one can hurt him!"
Her voice was broken and fragmented.
But as these words came out, her heart felt much lighter.
Summer was stunned, her eyes full of deep sympathy.
"But didn't you say that no one welcomed his arrival, and you were afraid you couldn't protect him? Didn't you say you wanted to cut all ties with Arthur?"
Aria shook her head desperately. "That was when I was too upset, a decision made on impulse."
"Actually, I already regretted it just now. I really... really want to have this child. I have a feeling that if I lose him, I'll regret it for the rest of my life!"
"Have you really thought this through?" Summer became serious. "Right now, what's in your belly is just an embryo. It's not too late for an abortion."
"But in another month or two, when he grows a little body and arms and legs, it'll be too late to change your mind."
Aria fiercely wiped away her tears. "I won't regret it again. I swear, I must give birth to him. No one can shake my resolve again!"
Summer looked at her determined expression, let out a long sigh, and hugged her. "Okay, as long as you've thought it through, I support your decision."
She turned to the doctor. "Doctor, we've changed our minds. We're not doing the procedure."
The doctor shrugged and said nothing.
Summer stayed with Aria for the night, watching her eat breakfast before leaving.
After breakfast, Aria planned to go back to the villa to get her things. From now on, she wouldn't be going back there.
She carefully applied makeup in front of the mirror.
Covering up all the haggardness from staying up late and crying, she chose a lipstick that really brightened her complexion, brushed her hair smooth and let it fall over her shoulders, and wore designer clothes.
If she didn't run into Arthur, fine. But if she did, perfect—she wanted to show him her best self and not let him look down on her!
The car drove into the villa's courtyard, and Ann came out to greet her.
Aria got out of the car and immediately noticed another car parked in the yard, which looked like Sophie's.
She took a breath, didn't look at it, grabbed her bag, and walked straight through the door.
Sophie was indeed still here.
Wearing loungewear, hair down, bare-faced, lying back on the sofa, holding a big bag of snacks, watching TV.
Her posture was as casual as if she were in her own home.
Hearing someone come in, Sophie looked up.
Seeing it was Aria, her expression instantly froze, shock flashing in her eyes.
Ever since she had sent the abortion letter and threatening letter in Arthur's name, she'd been very anxious.
That was a huge mistake. If Aria went to the police, it would all be over.
So she'd had someone tailing her. Thankfully, Aria headed to the hospital instead of the police station.
But looking at her current state, she didn't look like someone who'd just had an abortion!
Could it be that she'd discovered something and came to tell Arthur everything?
Sophie immediately stood up from the sofa, forgetting all about etiquette.
"What are you doing here?"
Before Aria could answer, footsteps came from the stairs.
It was Arthur, hearing the commotion and coming down.
Sophie's heart jumped again.
Seeing that Aria had come, Arthur's steps faltered slightly.
When his gaze swept over her, he was obviously stunned for a moment.
Today's Aria was very different from the gentle, obedient wife in his memory, but he couldn't quite say how.
"Oh? Mrs. Grant's sudden visit—is there something you need?" His tone was light at the end.
Aria's tone was flat. "I came back to get my things. I'll finish moving today, won't get in your way."
Arthur's expression changed, and his brows furrowed.
Seeing her calmly say she was moving out, the irritation from yesterday at the restaurant surged up again.
He should feel relieved.
Aria was moving out on her own initiative, making the divorce smoother. No one would stand in their way, but why... was his chest so tight?
Aria saw Arthur's expression was off and didn't want to get entangled with him, so she walked straight toward the stairs.
As she passed by him, Arthur grabbed her wrist.
"Packing your things? In such a hurry to leave—what exactly are you planning? Explain yourself."
Aria tried to shake off his hand, but he gripped her with such force that she couldn't break free.
