Chapter 132 A Fierce Fight Breaks Out
Lucy gripped the documents in her hand tightly, her knuckles turning slightly white. Her voice trembled a bit but was unusually firm, "I know you haven't seen what I'm capable of yet, and you're not willing to trust me easily."
She looked directly into his eyes without flinching, "But I still want to ask you to give me a chance. Our company wouldn't just send someone useless to handle something this important."
The person in charge on the other side let out a scornful laugh, "A chance?"
He repeated the word, his tone dripping with mockery, "I'm not running a charity here. If everyone who comes to work with me asks for a chance, and I give it to them one by one, would I ever get my projects done?"
Lucy opened her mouth, wanting to explain further, but he raised his hand to cut her off, his tone turning completely cold, "No need to say more. Either get someone from your company who can actually make decisions to talk to me, or this partnership ends here."
The moment he finished speaking, the conference room door was suddenly pushed open from outside.
The air instantly froze.
The man stood tall with a cold, sharp presence, his eyes carrying undisguised hostility.
It was Arthur.
He happened to be at Charles's company handling some business matters. That partnership that had unexpectedly started years ago between him and Charles because of Aria—no one had expected it to continue until now.
Over these years, Charles was no longer just investing in that one project. Instead, both companies had developed closer cooperation on various projects.
He had just been passing by the conference room when he spotted Lucy inside. His attention was drawn, and he happened to catch every word of how the person in charge was making things difficult for her.
Arthur's brow furrowed instantly as he pushed open the conference room door.
Ignoring the shocked looks from others, his sharp eyes swept directly toward the person in charge inside, his voice cold and heavy, "Since when did Mr. White's company have such a snob like you?"
The moment Arthur said this, the conference room fell silent, and everyone's eyes turned toward the door.
He stood there, radiating an intimidating presence that warned people to keep their distance, his cold eyes fixed on the person in charge, his gaze churning with undisguised scorn.
The person in charge had never seen Arthur at the company before, so he didn't recognize him.
Now being publicly humiliated like this by a stranger in front of the client he had just been showing off to, his anger flared up instantly. He pointed at Arthur and shouted, "Who the hell do you think you are? Hiding outside eavesdropping on other people's meetings, and you have the nerve to butt in?!"
Arthur's lips curled into an icy sneer, his tone freezing, "Eavesdropping? You think you're worth eavesdropping on? With those pathetic comments of yours? I think the one without any real ability isn't them—it's you."
He stepped forward, his gaze cold as ice, "Could it be that you're triggered seeing a young woman in a leadership position at such a young age? Every other thing you say is insulting to women. Your company actually has someone like you?"
The person in charge was left completely humiliated by Arthur's words, his face turning red then pale. He exploded on the spot, pointing at Arthur and cursing.
"Stop making things up! I'm discussing work with her—what gives you, an outsider, the right to interfere? I think you're just here to cause trouble, trying to play the hero in front of this girl!"
He kicked his chair aside in fury, stepping forward aggressively with a vicious look in his eyes, "Let me tell you, don't flatter yourself. Take a good look at who you are—do you even have the standing to act all high and mighty in front of me!"
Arthur couldn't be bothered to waste words on him. The pressure around him dropped sharply, "Whether I have the standing or not isn't something you can decide just by flapping your lips."
Before he finished speaking, he moved, already rushing toward the other person.
The person in charge didn't have time to react. He just saw a blur before his eyes, then took a solid punch to the jaw.
"Bang!"
A dull thud, and the person in charge's vision went dark from the pain as he staggered back two steps.
Humiliated and enraged, he completely lost his mind, roaring as he lunged forward to grab Arthur's collar.
"You're asking for it!"
Arthur glanced at him coldly, grabbed the other person's wrist with his hand, and twisted it smoothly.
Accompanied by a piercing scream, the person in charge was thrown down hard, crashing heavily onto the conference table.
This all happened so fast that the people around didn't even have time to react before seeing the person in charge slammed onto the table. The situation instantly descended into chaos.
Just as the two were locked in a struggle and a fist was about to land again, urgent footsteps came from outside the conference room.
Charles's company's administrative staff, security, and several colleagues who had rushed over at the sound all burst in. Seeing the situation, they immediately jumped in to break up the fight.
"Stop fighting! Stop!"
"Quick, pull them apart!"
Several people worked together to hold Arthur's arms while two others grabbed the out-of-control person in charge, forcibly pulling the two fighting men apart.
Tables and chairs were already knocked over everywhere, documents scattered all around, the air thick with hostility and panic.
The moment they were forcibly separated, Arthur's collar was disheveled, his knuckles red and scraped, and his temple had hit the corner of the table, blood seeping out.
He still stared deadly at the person across from him, his eyes frighteningly cold, his chest heaving violently from anger, the pressure around him dropping to the extreme.
On the other side, the person in charge had messy hair and a bruised lip. Even after being pulled away, he was still struggling and shouting furiously, pointing at Arthur and cursing non-stop. The scene was chaotic to the extreme.
Lucy stood frozen in place, her face deathly pale. Looking at Arthur's injuries, her fingers trembling, she couldn't say a word.
Just then, urgent footsteps came from outside the conference room again. The manager responsible for liaising with Arthur's company came running over. As soon as he entered and saw the mess everywhere and the two men facing off, his expression changed drastically.
When his gaze landed on Arthur, he froze completely, his face immediately showing panic and respect as he rushed forward, bowing repeatedly in apology.
"Mr. Grant! I'm so sorry, Mr. Grant! This is our oversight, letting you encounter such a thing here. I'm truly sorry!"
The words "Mr. Grant" fell clearly into everyone's ears. The person in charge, who had been so aggressive just moments ago, shuddered, his expression instantly freezing, his eyes full of shock and panic.
He stared blankly at Arthur, then at the humble manager, belatedly realizing.
The man before him was actually Arthur, who had been cooperating with their company for years!
He never would have imagined that Arthur would eavesdrop on someone's meeting, let alone get into a physical fight with him.
The person in charge, realizing what stupid thing he had done, was instantly drenched in cold sweat. His earlier arrogance vanished completely, his face turning deathly pale. He couldn't curse out another word and didn't even dare to meet Arthur's eyes anymore.
Arthur ignored the manager, his gaze like a blade shooting toward the person in charge, his voice carrying an undeniable pressure, "You don't need to apologize to me. The one who needs to apologize is him."
