Chapter 120 His Fury
Over the next few days, Arthur remained very calm, not showing what was on his mind. He was afraid Sophie would notice something and cause trouble.
Every day he went to work at the company as usual, and his attitude toward Sophie was the same as it had been these past few years. However, his attempts at concealment seemed like a joke to Sophie.
Sophie had once indirectly asked Arthur about this matter, but Arthur's attitude made her very uncomfortable.
That day, after Arthur left for the company, Sophie went straight to the garden. Looking at those flowers that Arthur had hired people to take care of so well, all her resentment exploded at that moment. She directly called the gardeners over, "Dig up all these flowers for me!"
The gardeners froze when they heard Sophie's words, not daring to move. "Madam, these flowers are what sir likes, we don't dare..."
Seeing that the gardeners wouldn't do as she said, Sophie became even more furious. "I'm telling you to do it, so just do it. If anything happens, I'll take responsibility. What are you afraid of? Can't you tell who's the master of this house? Believe it or not, I'll fire you all right now!"
The gardeners looked at each other after hearing Sophie's words, but still didn't dare to make a move.
Seeing them unmoved, Sophie narrowed her eyes, stepped forward and grabbed a small hoe used for weeding, and struck it down on those colorful roses that Aria had left behind.
With that one strike, those originally vibrant colorful roses instantly fell to the ground.
Seeing this, the resentment in Sophie's heart subsided a bit. She simply stopped calling for help and destroyed those flowers herself until they were in pieces. In less than half an hour, all the flowers that Aria had left behind were completely ruined.
Looking at the flowers on the ground, Sophie sneered and stomped on them again and again, as if trying to vent her anger that had nowhere to go.
After doing all this, looking at the mess of the entire garden, Sophie felt somewhat satisfied. She turned her gaze to those gardeners, "Alright, now clean up this garbage on the ground."
Sophie casually threw the small hoe aside and went straight into the house, not feeling at all that what she did was wrong.
The gardeners looked at each other, sighed, and obediently began cleaning up the scattered petals on the ground.
Arthur happened to need to pick up a file, so he came back from the company early. His car had just entered the villa area when rain began to fall slantwise, bringing a bit of chill.
He pushed open the door and entered the yard, his usually steady footsteps suddenly stopping.
Those flowers he had hired people to carefully nurture now only had their roots lying crookedly in the soil. On the ground were only scattered petals, and even the soil he had specially brought in was turned into a complete mess.
The pressure around him instantly dropped to freezing point.
Arthur slowly walked over, crouched down, his slender fingers gently brushing over those broken petals. His fingertips touched the cold, soft, rotten texture. The fatigue in his eyes suddenly faded, replaced by surging anger, like a dormant volcano suddenly erupting. "Who told you to touch these?"
Arthur suddenly clenched his fist, his fingertips turning white, veins bulging on the back of his hand. He abruptly stood up, his gaze sweeping over the disturbed flower bed, his Adam's apple rolling hard, the fury in his chest almost breaking through his rationality.
"Didn't I say from the beginning that no one was to touch these flowers? Are you all deaf? Can't you understand simple instructions?"
The hostility around Arthur almost froze the entire garden. The gardeners all instinctively stepped back, trembling, their backs already soaked with cold sweat.
Arthur's gaze swept over them, his tone more vicious than ever before. "I'll ask one more time. Who was it?"
"It was... Mrs. Grant..."
One of the gardeners couldn't bear the pressure and spoke tremblingly.
The rain grew heavier, soaking Arthur's suit cuffs, but he seemed completely unaware. The atmosphere around him became even more oppressive after hearing the gardener's words. A cold light burst from his sharp eyes as he looked at Ann nearby, his tone icy. "Go get her down here."
Ann didn't dare delay and immediately went to call Sophie down.
When Sophie came out, she didn't notice at all the tension in the yard that was about to snap. She saw Arthur standing by the flower bed at a glance. Seeing him getting rained on, she quickly grabbed an umbrella and ran over, her tone full of concern. "Arthur, why didn't you go inside when you got back? What are you doing standing in the rain?"
"Why did you touch these?"
"I didn't like these flowers, thought they were a bit ugly, so I wanted to change them. What's wrong?"
Sophie said while looking up at him coquettishly, completely missing the storm raging in his eyes.
The next second, Arthur forcefully pushed her hand away. The force wasn't great, but it carried an unyielding coldness.
Sophie staggered back a step, the umbrella falling directly to the ground, the smile on her face instantly freezing.
Arthur turned around, his dark eyes burning with towering fury, each word squeezed out from between his teeth, cold as ice. "Sophie, who gave you the nerve to touch my things?"
He had never spoken to her in such a tone before.
All these years, no matter how cold he'd been, he'd never been this violent and disgusted.
Sophie stood frozen in place, the coquettish expression on her face completely stiff, her breathing becoming rapid.
"Didn't I tell you from the start not to touch these flowers? I've given you everything you wanted. Why do you have to find ways to destroy the things I want? Sophie, what more are you dissatisfied with?"
Arthur's voice wasn't loud, but each word hammered into her heart, carrying rage suppressed to the extreme!
Sophie never imagined Arthur would lose his temper at her like this over these flowers. Panicking inside, she stepped forward trying to grab his sleeve. "Arthur... I..."
"Shut up!"
Arthur coldly cut her off, his eyes showing no trace of sympathy, only the hostility of having his bottom line crossed.
"Sophie, things I haven't allowed you to touch, you shouldn't lay a finger on. In the past I tolerated you, but that doesn't mean I should keep tolerating you forever. Have you forgotten what you did five years ago?
I'm not a fool! I know perfectly well about certain things. I tolerated you only because you saved me back then, but people need to know their limits. If you keep using that favor to cross my boundaries again and again, you'll definitely be the one who regrets it!"
Arthur's final cold, sharp gaze fell on her. Without another word, he turned and strode through the villa's main door.
With a "bang," the entrance door closed behind him, separating inside from outside, and completely leaving Sophie alone outside.
She stared at the tightly shut villa door, her heart panicking in waves. Only now did she truly realize that Arthur was really angry...
