Chapter 102 Accident

Chapter 102 Accident

Aria seemed caught off guard by Lance's question. She froze for a moment, just glanced at him, and said nothing.

Seeing that Aria was ignoring him, Lance frowned slightly. His eyes swept around the area - there weren't many people around. He took a deep breath and continued, "You're just going to put up with this? Aria, are you planning to drag this out forever? Just let him marry someone else while still married to you? Not get divorced?"

Aria looked at Lance's indignant expression, her eyes flickering slightly. She naturally couldn't explain everything in detail in such a setting, so she could only be vague. "I have my own plans for this."

Lance pressed on relentlessly, "So what are your plans? When exactly are you getting divorced?"

"I'll tell you after it's done."

Aria didn't want to discuss this anymore and quickly walked a few steps ahead.

Lance watched Aria's retreating figure and followed after her. Just as he was about to speak to her, he suddenly saw something and cried out, "Watch out!"

The accident happened at that very moment.

Before Aria could think, she felt herself pulled into a warm embrace, followed by the sound of something shattering beside her and a muffled grunt.

Her heart jumped, and she quickly looked to her side. Lance was blocking her entire body in a protective stance, his arms around her. On the ground was a broken flowerpot with dirt scattered everywhere, and blood was dripping from his arm hanging at his side.

Aria quickly pulled away from Lance's embrace and looked at him nervously. "Are you okay? Lance."

Lance shook his head gently and reached up to touch the back of his head. His palm came away covered in bright red blood.

Aria's heart suddenly tightened. She quickly supported Lance and called over a nearby staff member. "Call 911 right away."

"Yes."

"Are you dizzy? Sit down first."

Aria and the staff member helped Lance to a nearby seat, while also calling over the person responsible for the decorations in this area.

While waiting for the paramedics, Lance looked at Aria and asked with concern, "You weren't hit, were you?"

When that flowerpot fell from the wall just now, his breath had stopped for a beat, terrified that if he'd been a second slower, it would have hit Aria. Fortunately, he'd made it in time and she wasn't hurt.

Meeting Lance's concerned gaze, Aria felt a warmth in her heart. She shook her head gently. "I'm fine, but what about you? Why did you just rush over like that?"

Aria was also a bit shaken now, not daring to imagine what would have happened if Lance hadn't blocked it and the flowerpot had hit her head directly.

Looking at Aria's frightened expression, Lance felt a stabbing pain from the back of his head that made him take a deep breath. He couldn't imagine what the consequences would have been if that thing had hit her.

Not wanting Aria to feel guilty, Lance tried to sound casual. "Just instinct, I guess. I couldn't just let you get hit right in front of me. If word got out, how could I show my face?"

Seeing Lance like this, Aria knew he didn't want her to feel guilty, which only made her feel more responsible.

Fortunately, the paramedics arrived quickly. She had them take Lance to the hospital first, then after checking with the staff responsible for that area about what exactly happened, she followed to the hospital.

What Aria didn't know was that the scene of Lance saving her and holding her in his arms had already been photographed by someone with ulterior motives and sent to Arthur.

When Arthur saw the photo, his anger shot straight up. He immediately called the person he'd assigned to follow Aria to find out what happened.

After learning that Aria had almost been injured and was saved by Lance, his jealousy overflowed, and he directly called Aria.

But when his call went through, no one answered. Just as Arthur was about to make a second call, Sophie arrived.

"Arthur."

Arthur paused. Sophie's figure came into view, and he immediately put away his phone and walked toward her. "Why are you here?"

"I wanted to have lunch with you. Is that not convenient?"

Sophie looked hurt. Arthur was slightly taken aback and shook his head. "No, what do you want to eat?"

Sophie looked expectant. "Japanese food, is that okay?"

Arthur's eyes flickered, and he said slowly, "Did the doctor say you can eat that?"

Arthur was being careful about Sophie's diet now. Given her condition, he didn't dare let her eat carelessly.

"In moderation, it should be fine."

"Alright then, but stick to cooked food."

"Okay."

When Aria arrived at the hospital, Lance was being bandaged. Seeing Lance's head wrapped in bandages, Aria felt a complex mix of emotions.

Although Lance always bickered with her, he always seemed to appear when she needed him.

She had to admit, this side of Lance touched something in her heart.

Lance, who was being bandaged, sensed someone watching him. He looked up and met Aria's gaze directly. Noticing her distraction, he smiled and teased, "What's wrong? Moved to tears by me?"

Hearing Lance's teasing tone, Aria responded somewhat helplessly, "Yeah, moved to tears by you."

She paused and continued, "Still have the energy to joke around - does it not hurt anymore?"

Lance's lips curved up slightly, and he nodded gently. "It hurts, but since you're crying for me, it doesn't hurt anymore."

As they talked, the doctor finished bandaging Lance. His head had been cut open, but fortunately there was no concussion - just a superficial wound.

After the doctor gave Lance some instructions, he left, leaving only Lance and Aria in the hospital room.

"Thank you for today."

Aria looked at Lance, her eyes full of gratitude.

If it weren't for him, she would have been the one suffering today.

And she was pregnant - the baby might have...

Hearing this, Lance smiled lightly and nodded. "I get it, you don't need to keep saying it. I'm tough, it's no big deal."

Lance didn't want Aria to feel too guilty. Today's incident was just an accident. In that situation, he couldn't have just stood by and done nothing.

"You'll need to rest properly for a while now."

Lance's lips curved up. "Just a couple days of rest will do. I'm really fine. Didn't you see the test results? It's just a superficial wound."

"It's your own head, so take care of it yourself. Don't come asking me to compensate you later if something really goes wrong, because I can't afford it."

Aria was half-joking, half-serious.

Lance understood what Aria meant and nodded. "Don't worry, even if I do become an idiot, I won't blame you."

Aria gave him a somewhat helpless look.

Lance seemed to remember something and looked at Aria. "Did you find out what happened today?"
