Part 3 Ch.18-2

Blood trickles down my nose as they drag me back to my cell. Despite the painful tingling in my skin, I manage to feel smug. My wall didn't waver once during the interrogation, much to the Sheriff's frustration. And I've learned the name of the man with the electricity. Garrott Osman. Another name that'll go on my list if I ever get out of here. A door opens and the men throw me in my cell. My legs crumble beneath me and I let them. At this point, the floor is as equally comfortable as the bed. I've decided I've been too merciful on the OCIU. If anything, I should thank them for enlightening me. I try to laugh but end up with a coughing fit instead.  A metallic taste fills my mouth. I look at the ceiling through unfocused eyes. Sleep is threatening to overcome me but I fight it. I'm going to die here. I ask myself if there's anything I regret but too many things come to mind and I shove them away. I don't want to think about them just yet. Then I ask myself if there's anything I don't regret. Time passes as I think. I don't regret some of the people I've killed. They were going to kill me. I don't regret joining the Yellow Thorns. It was the only way to keep them safe. Who's them? Faces of my past come hovering in my mind. Mama, Zelia, Mateo, Carson... Would I have done the same thing in his shoes? I muse over this for a while. I guess I did betray him by killing Romero. So there's that. Maybe we aren't so different after all. Just two sides of the same coin. My eyelids become heavy and I finally give in. 0~0~0 I hear noises outside my cell. It takes more energy than I would like to open my eyes and sit up. My eyes focus on the door. It opens and two men walk in. One I know. It's the Marksmen. It feels like I'm dreaming for a second. This is the closest we've ever been and yet he's impacted my life in ways he probably doesn't know about. But this isn't what surprised me the most, it's the look on his eyes. He absolutely hates me. That's when I notice that the red light on the camera is gone. The blood runs from my face. "Grab her." He orders. The other man darts forward and pulls me to my feet. I struggle but he forces my arms behind my back. There's a click and handcuffs tighten around my wrists. He grips my arm painfully to keep me from moving. Marksman walks until he's a few feet away from me. "What do you want." I say as calmly as I can. "Your dead partner back?" I silently thank Carson for giving me the information I need to taunt this piece of shit. His arm blurs and a punch knocks the breath from my lungs. I gag a little and struggle not to throw up. "I bet she could punch better than you." I breath. The next one hits my cheek. I don't know why I'm taunting him. I can't stop myself. "She was my fiancee." His words are thick with emotion. "And you killed her." I look up and see the name on his tag. Officer Robertson. He is the man who shot Kyra and Natalia and who knows countless others. The corners of my vision turns red. "You killed my friends!" I scream. "You're no better than I am." "I only wish you had more." I lunge forward and spit on him. His eyes darken as he wipes his cheek. His eyes reminds me of Romero and Marcus. This is what evil looks like. It's not under your bed or waiting in the darkness. It's right here. I struggle against the man behind me until I feel like my arm is about to pop from it's joint. The Marksman pulls out a gun, it has a silencer on. "I studied human anatomy." He says. His blond hair falls to his face and he doesn't bother to pull it back. Through it, I can see his dark eyes. "I know just where in the body a bullet can go through without hitting any major organs. It will makes our time together even longer. Hold her still." I kick and throw my head back, hitting the man in the throat. He gags a little and his grip loosens for a second. That's all I need. The door's still open and I bolt to it. I don't need to escape, I just need to get my head out of this room. If I'm right, the thing on my neck is more than just a power inhibitor, it's a tracker as well. The moment I step through the door, the alarms go off. A hand grabs me and pulls me back so hard that I trip over my feet and fall to the floor. Marksman's face is twisted as he aims carefully and fires. Right as he pulls the trigger, the other man bumps into him. "Come on, Trevor! We have to go." The other man yells, pulling Marksman--Trevor--away. "If you tell anyone about this, Carson is a dead man! You hear!" He shouts, his eyes livid as the other man pulls him away. They leave, shutting the door behind them. My hands are tied behind my back, I can only watch helplessly as the blood begins to spread under my shirt.
