Chapter 119 MEANING TO HER PRESENCE

Chapter 119 MEANING TO HER PRESENCE
Isadora's POV

I couldn't believe what my ears had just heard. It wasn't enough that I had to grow up without her presence. It wasn't enough that I had to see Jaxon suffer just because of her. Now she's supposedly responsible for the accident that might have claimed Jaxon's mother's life.

My gaze traveled to Jaxon, and the sheer amount of pain I saw in his eyes left me with a rage I couldn't comprehend. Knowing the fact that she was my mother also made a wave of intense disgust rush over me.

I immediately lowered my eyes as tears threatened to fall down my face, but I fought them back and swallowed the lump forming at the back of my throat.

Jaxon pulled himself to his feet, his breathing suddenly becoming shallow as he tugged forcefully at the tie around his neck. I saw him struggling to control his anger, but he couldn't hide it—his hands twisted into tight fists told me everything he was trying to suppress.

I reached out my hand, wanting to hold his, wanting to hug him and tell him that I was so sorry—but he stormed off before I could even touch him.

I moved to follow him, but Dr. Jane stopped me.

“Let him go.”

Knowing the fact that they were all in on the lies only made my skin crawl. I turned to face my dad, whose gaze immediately dropped, refusing to meet mine.

“So what am I?! The daughter of a murderer—isn't that what it makes me?! How could... Why do we have to be the ones suffering for the mistakes you adults made?!” I questioned through clenched teeth, trying as hard as possible not to raise my voice, but I couldn't control the raw emotion and rage rushing inside me.

I am going to kill that witch. Who does she think she is? How dare she mess everything up and think it's okay?!

I snatched my car keys and made my way toward the door.

“Isa! Isadora, where are you going?!” I heard my dad calling out, but I didn't care.

Making my way out of the elevator, I saw Troy standing there, staring after Jaxon's retreating car. I brushed past him and climbed into my car.

Before I could even buckle my seatbelt, Troy got in beside me.

“Get out, Troy! Don't bother trying to stop me!” I snapped, kicking the engine to life as my eyes flicked to his.

“I'm not stopping you or anything. The person that needs stopping is Jaxon. He is heading to the station where your mother is being held—”

“She is not my mother! Don't call that devil my mother!” I screamed right in Troy’s face, my emotions finally exploding into a loud, frustrated shout before a sob broke from my lips.

Troy's POV

I raised my hands in defense as she lashed out before tears tore from her eyes. With her face buried in her hands against the steering wheel, nothing remained except her broken crying. I didn't know what to do.

Jaxon had always been the one who knew how to handle Isadora, while I usually avoided her at all costs.

I reached out to touch her, but she sat up almost immediately, her eyes locking onto mine. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and the depth of pain in her eyes was entirely unlike her.

“Isa,” I called softly, finding myself reaching out to brush those tears away.

“Jaxon probably hates me now, right? He... he wouldn't want anything to do with me, right?! Why is that woman bent on making my life a living hell?!” she sobbed out.

“Isa, I need you to take a deep breath. I know all of this is hard for you, just as much as it's hard on Jaxon, but he doesn't blame you for any of this. In fact, you might be the best thing that ever happened to him, regardless of the choices your mother made that ruined his life. He hasn't blamed you, and he would never blame you for the mistakes the adults made,” I said to her, cupping her face in my hands, needing her to snap out of the thought that Jaxon could ever hate her.

After more tears and cries, I finally managed to get her calmed down.

“Isa, I really need you to drive me to the station where your mum is being held,” I said to her, but she only let out a hollow sigh.

“She got released this morning,” she said, her gaze going blank.

“What? She already got released?!” I asked in total disappointment. I thought we finally had her where we wanted her, but I guess not. She always seems to find her way back out.

“She went through a psychological evaluation and was confirmed sane. Although I don't know how much the video I posted affected her standing in the hotel chain, I sure hope it ruins what is left of her in our lives. I want her gone, Troy. I want her out of our lives forever.”

Her words carried almost the exact same weight as Jaxon’s.

I felt so terrible for them. As much as Jaxon didn't deserve any of this, Isa didn't deserve to carry the burden of knowing her mother killed her own sister just so she could steal her identity and live her life.

“Let's go find Jaxon, Isa. I don't want him to be alone at a time like this,” I said, having her switch seats with me so I could drive. I dialed Jaxon's number, but he wouldn't take my calls.

My guess was that if he went to the station and found out the witch had been released, he would surely head back to his father's house in search of her.

I needed to find him. I couldn't risk him having one of his panic attacks without me there to help him.

I drove Isa’s car out of the parking lot and made my way toward the Lennox family estate, praying I would get there before Jaxon did.

But as we hit the open road, a call flashed across my screen—it was Nancy.

I thought maybe she was calling because she couldn't reach Jaxon, but she had an entirely different piece of news to relay.

She was at the airport and needed me to come pick her up.

I was completely shocked and instantly worried.

What on earth was Nancy doing in Brookleigh?

I didn't need anyone to tell me that something was terribly wrong.

I immediately texted Jaxon, hoping he would see the message since he wasn't answering my calls. Hopefully, it would stop him from confronting the witch, because there was no way I wanted him letting his guard down right now.

I immediately swung the car around and headed toward the airport, ignoring Isadora as she turned to me with a confused look and threw out the question: “Where are we going?”
