After listening to Nova's mother's phone conversation, I quickly ran to my car and drove out of the compound. I didn't know if she heard me drive out or if she realized that I had eavesdropped on her conversation, but one thing was sure: I needed to do something fast.

I went to school and saw Nova. I stared at her, and it occurred to me to tell her about what I had heard, but then I changed my mind. There was no way she would take me seriously, considering the fact that she rolled her eyes at me when I looked at her, and she completely ignored me.

When Aiden saw our interactions, he walked up to me and asked, "Are you and Nova fighting or something?"

I shook my head, "No, we're cool. Thanks, Aiden."

After that, I focused on what I had to do in school. Then after school, I left.

I first went to a bar, which was strange, because I went alone. I had a bottle of alcohol. I needed it somehow; it was going to boost my morale for what I wanted to do.

After drinking, I drove straight to Nova's house. It was already late, and I knew Lucas was back. I got there and knocked, and Nova was the one who opened the door.

When she saw me, she said, "Are you serious? What are you doing here, Ella? Won't you at least give us some time to bond with our family member who has been away for a long time?"

I raised my hands and said, "Listen, I'm not here to fight you or anything, but it's important for me to see Lucas."

Nova still wanted to insist, but Lucas came out of the room and said, "Let her in, Nova. What are you trying to do? Let Ella into the house."

Nova moved out of the door and let me in. Lucas smiled at me, but I wasn't smiling. Nova's mum sat on the couch, staring at me with a look of hostility in her eyes.

Of course, I knew she was aware of who I was. Nova must have told her, but I couldn't care less about what she thought, especially after discovering the kind of person she was.

So I began to speak. "Lucas, I'm sorry I had to barge into your house at this time, but it was necessary for me to come because I need to expose this criminal who calls herself Nova's mum. I need to expose her for who she is."

Nova who had gone to sit beside her mum got up the moment she heard what I said and asked, "How dare you?"

Lucas said, "Wait, hold on, Nova. Explain what you mean, Ella."

I smiled, "Good. Well, I came here earlier in the day, very early in the morning before I went to school. I saw Nova drive out and came in because I wanted to speak to you, Lucas. But then I overheard the conversation of this woman here. Guess what she was saying?

She was speaking to her husband. Oh, yes, I heard her say, 'Oh darling, I miss you, I miss our children. Don't worry, I'm going to get as much money as I can. The plan is in motion. Lucas trusts me, and so does Nova. They're both easy to fool because they love me so much.'

Yes, I overheard everything. So I want you to know the truth, Lucas. This woman is a lying bitch who is here to defraud you of your money and also deceive Nova."

Nova's mum placed her hand on her forehead and said, "No, I can't believe this. I can't believe this." All of a sudden, she fell to the ground and lost consciousness. Both Lucas and Nova ran to her side while I folded my arms, staring at her without feeling moved by her act.

When Lucas placed the back of his palm on her neck, he said, "Oh my God! Her temperature is very high."

They quickly took her to the sofa, placed her on it, and afterward, Nova rushed into the bedroom and came out with a bucket of water. I watched Lucas as he gently dabbed her face with the wet towel until she opened her eyes.

As she opened her eyes, tears began to fall from them, and she started crying. She held on to Lucas's shirt and said, "I can't take this, Lucas. I cannot. I just want to die. No, I shouldn't have come here. I shouldn't have come here."

Nova got up and said, "How dare you, Ella? What's wrong with you? Who the hell do you think you are? Listen, I gave way for you to be with my dad when I felt you were worth it.

My mum is back now, okay, and she's here to take her rightful place. Do you think resorting to such cheap lies or blackmailing her would work?

What do you take us for, fools? Come on, Ella, I know you're jealous, but listen, before you came into my dad's life, my mum has always been there. So, do not think that you can come and destroy the relationship he had with her.

Despite all that Nova said, I didn't move. I stood staring at Lucas and he was staring back at me.

However, Nova's mom continued to cry, "I'm sorry, Nova. I shouldn't have come back. Perhaps I should have just stayed behind. I don't want to cause any heartache or problems for you. Please, I've already hurt you both so much..."

Nova began to cry and hugged her mom. "I'm so sorry, Mom. I'm sorry that you got insulted today. I know that you've been through a lot. Please don't blame yourself. You had no hand in what happened in the past."

I kept staring at Lucas, who finally scoffed and asked, "How could you do this, Ella? I'm so disappointed in you. Do you know that in spite of everything, I trusted you? I thought you were mature. I thought you were a girl who knew right from wrong. I mean, how could you come here and say such lies about her just because you're jealous?

Do you know what this woman has been through? Do you know that this is Nova's mom? Do you know the sacrifices she made for me years back? Yet you just came from nowhere and started accusing her. I'm disappointed in you, Ella."

I stared at Lucas in surprise. "Lucas, you're disappointed in me? Over a woman, you haven't seen in years? Are you saying that I'm lying? Lucas, I am telling you th..."

"That is enough, Ella," Lucas cut me off. "You know what? I don't think this whole arrangement is going to work anymore because now that Nova's mom is back, you're going to keep coming up with ways to hurt her.

And I don't want to be in the middle of this. I don't want to hurt my daughter. I don't want to hurt her mom. So, I think you should just leave."

"What are you saying?" I asked. "Are you asking me to go home? Or are you asking me to walk out of your life? What are you exactly asking me, Lucas?"

Lucas sighed, "Since it has come to this, let's break up, Ella. I'm sorry, but this is for the best."

I shook my head. "No, Lucas. You can't say that. You can't leave me. Don't do this to me. Have you forgotten all the promises you made to me?"

"Hmm," Lucas said. "Listen, we never should have gotten back together in the first place. After breaking up the first time, things should have just stayed the way they were. But I'm sorry. Listen, just go Ella. This is for the best."

I stared at both Lucas and Nova and her mom who had a triumphant look on her face. Afterward, I turned and ran out of the house. I got into my car and drove back home.

When I entered the house, my father looked at my face and said, "The emotion on your face is different. I can see anger written all over you. Now come and tell us what the problem is. Were you fighting again with Lucas? I mean, it's high time I had a talk with that guy."

"Oh, come on Dad," I said. "Not everything has to do with Lucas. Stop accusing the innocent man already."

"Ohh, you're taking his side against your father is it?"

My mom tapped him and said, "Calm down and listen, Angelo, "If she has something to say, let her say it. Stop being so harsh on Lucas. I thought we both agreed that you'll give him a chance."

"I'm giving him a chance," my Dad replied. "But then I don't want to see my daughter sulking or looking so sad all the time."

I smiled and said, "Come on Dad, even before I met Lucas, there were times I became upset and angry. So not everything is because of Lucas, okay..."

"Alright," my dad said. "So what's the problem, Princess?"

"Well," I said, "for the next week, I don't really have much to do in school. I miss Grandma and Grandpa. I want to go to Panama and visit them, spend time with them..."

"Really!" my Mom was excited about it. "Oh honey, they'll be so happy. They've missed you so much."

But my dad said, "Hold on there, young lady. Why do you suddenly want to travel?"

"I just explained to you that I have some free time from school," I replied.

My dad stared at me suspiciously. "Are you telling the truth, Ella? Are you really going to Panama because you miss your grandparents?"

"Yes," I said. "I mean, they're old, and I don't know how long they'll be alive for. I want to cherish my precious moments with them."

My mom said, "Come on, don't be hard on her. I wish I could go with you, but your dad is going to be so lonely, so we'll both go together during the holidays. But it's a good thing you want to go and spend time with them. I'm sure they're going to be so excited."

After getting my parents' consent, I went into my room, packed my bags, called my grandparents, and told them about my plans to come and visit. Just as my mom had said, they were so excited and kept screaming over the phone.

That very evening, I took the next available flight to Panama because I didn't want to stay in London for the next few days.

Seeing Ella in tears hurt me, but this was necessary. Everything I did was necessary. After she left, I got up and went into my room. I didn't like the fact that there were tears in her eyes, even though she did not cry them out.

Nova came into the room and hugged me. "Thank you so much, Dad. I know you have feelings for Ella. I also know that sometimes your decisions are because you are trying to consider my feelings, so I want to thank you. Thank you for giving my mom a chance."

"Listen," I said to her. "You know I named you after your mom because just as your mom was precious to me, you're also precious to me. Whatever decision I make, I always think about your feelings, I always think about your happiness, and what is best for you. I want you to always remember this."

Nova smiled and hugged me again. "You're the best father in the world, I promise." After that, she ran out of the room.

I had given her mother the guest room to stay in for a few days, but later, when it was late at night, I heard a knock on my door. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see Nova's mom standing in front of it.

"Can I come in?" she asked.

"Of course, you can," I replied.
I opened the door and let her in. She was putting on a sexy nightgown, but she had a beige jacket covering her body.

The moment she came into my room, she took the jacket off and said, "Listen, I know that we've been apart from each other for years, but I've thought about you every single day and night of my life. And I've wanted nothing more than to be in your arms, Lucas.

I know that a lot has happened, it has been very long, but I've never forgotten you, and I know that you've never forgotten me either. I'm grateful for all you've done for me, for giving me a chance, for bringing me back into your life. Lucas, I can't hold back anymore. I want you."

As she placed her hands on my chest, I said, "Listen, Nova, yes, you were my first love, and I've never been able to forget you. But please, let's take this slow.

The girl that came here, Ella, I fell in love with her, and I can't forget her so easily. A lot has happened, okay? So, let's just take it one step at a time. For now, you can just spend the night in your guest house. I hope you understand."

She hugged me, and when she pulled away, she said, "I understand, Lucas. Thank you so much for giving me a chance. The fact that you've even given me the opportunity to be this close to you makes me very happy, Lucas.

I have a few things I've always wanted us to do together, but I've never had the chance to do them. So, for now, we'll just take everything slow, but I will make a bucket list. Can you at least promise me that we'll do these things together?"

I smiled. "Well, let's talk about it in the morning, okay? For now, you can go back and rest. Goodnight, see you tomorrow."

"Goodnight," she said and walked out of my room.
