Chapter 7 Desperately need this!
Brad
As I stood outside and waited for my final verdict, I could’ve help but flashback to the interview. I weighed all my answers and tried to rate myself based on what I’d think if I was the one asking the questions. At the end of the whole thing, I was convinced I did well and without reasonable doubt, I should get the room. But then, it’s obvious that Vivian wants to sabotage me. She was scanning me throughout the whole thing and that almost got to me. I almost lost my confidence but it’s not my first rodeo with interviews so I quickly got myself back and gave it my all. Must of her questions were just means to get me out but I didn’t leave any stone unturned.
“I really hope I get it this time,” I muttered under my breath.
It’s been three months since I moved into this part of the city, and I’ve been looking for a space since then. The other places I’ve checked are nothing to write home about. I’m not even seeking out for a high class place, but those places were terrible and I just couldn’t settle for any of them.
I was about losing hope when I saw the Ad pop up last night, and somehow, I just knew this was it. I have to get it for my plan to work.
There’s a big reason why I moved all the way here and left all my wealth to start living as a struggling person.
Back at home, I’m a billionaire CEO of a successful and big tech company. Infact, it’s the biggest and the best out there. My current workplace aspire to be like it but they don’t know how to go about it so they are just taking it slow. If only they know that the person who built that company from the ground up is the same person working with them. I’m sure they would have made sure I help out by all means, but they can’t know. I can’t afford to let them know. That’s the only way my plan can work.
All that money, and one would think I have it all but I don’t. I lack the one thing that I want so much. Love.
I don’t mean just any love because money can buy that. I mean a genuine love where I can love freely and also loved in return.
Well, I never got that and I did try a lot of times. I was in a number of relationships which I gave my all, only to get so little or nothing at all in return. I tried several times to find true love but because of the money, I kept falling into the hands of women who only care about my wealth and status.
They only wanted to be with me because of what they stand to gain, and his the public sees them. Everyone wants to be associated with the hahdsome billionaire. I was so naive that I never see through them at the start. I just fall in love with all my heart and expect the same but I always got nothing. I still never gave up and always tried again, and again, and again until I finally got enough of the heartbreaks.
The last one especially broke me. I was so down and almost lost touch with life. For days, I lived in denial. I couldn’t come to terms with such betrayal. It was too much for my heart to handle.
It took a long while but I eventually healed and forgot about it. Despite all these experiences, I never gave up on love. I love it, want it, and know I’ll get it.
I just needed to change my strategy.
That’s why I decided to leave all my money and status behind, and look for a woman who will love me for who I am and not because the gains.
I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I was willing to make the sacrifice.
“It will all worth it in the end,” I had said to my assistant, who also is my best and onky friend.
He’s the only one who knows about my plans and right from the second I told him, he didn’t try to discourage me like a lot of people would have. It wouldn’t have made sense to them but Ryan wasn’t like that. I guess that’s one of the reason he’s my assistant and has a track record of doing a great job.
We both went over the plans and after everything, he promised to keep my secret.
“If a word of this ever gets out, know that it’s from you because I’m never going to say a word. Not even if I get drunk with all the wine in this world.” He teased but I could tell he meant every word. I’ve never had any reason to doubt him anyway.
As for my parents and workers, I told them I was going for a long vacation and that’s it. I left and that’s what they think till this second.
Well, I got here and it wasn’t as easy as I thought. Maybe it would have be better if I wasn’t pretending to be poor and can’t afford an expensive place. Ryan connected me with one of his cousins and I’ve been staying at his place while we both looked for mine.
The other day, I had looked around to no avail and decided to stop over at the restaurant to eat. That was when I saw the two ladies talking. I tried to mind my business but my ears kept trespassing and I just couldn’t resist it at a point. I just had to voice out my opinion and I wasn’t trying to fault her. I just wanted her to know that she indulged her ex and empowered him to treat her that way. She didn’t see my reason and that got then angry.
They wouldn’t let me explain what I meant and I held my breath. I thought that was all about it until I got here this morning and it turned out they were my potential roommates…
Just then, a lady appeared and I just knew she came for the interview. I can’t let her win them over and lose my opportunity so I turned her back. I told her the interview was already over and they got someone too.
“Ohhh, but it should still be on according to the time stated.” She argued and I just had to come up with an excuse. I told her she’d better run because the lady is unbearable and would make life so difficult for her. I didn’t mean to but I had no choice.
By the time I was done, the lady was terrified. She thanked me and quickly bolted.
“You can come in now,” a voice suddenly rang behind me and I turned to see Ally at the door.
She happened to catch a glimpse of the lady running off, and was curious.
“Who was that?” She asked while I shrugged.
“No one you should be worried about.” I simply said and we went inside…
