Chapter 22 The surprise

Chapter 22 The surprise
Vivian
Ally and I spent the rest of the day taking and having fun. We finally called it a day but we didn’t want to leave.
“Oh I miss when we used to live together. We’re old now and have to settle for moments like this.” She chimed in as we walked out of the restaurant.
“We’re old now, really? When did you start talking like an old lady?” I replied with a taunting smile which she also returned.
“Maybe because I’m actually getting old,” she said.
“I’ll drop you off at home and no, you can’t say no. You either get in or I’d have the security drag you in.” She teased ahd we both laughed it off.
“Moments like this make me feel bad for Justin. How on earth is he coping with a commander like you?” I joked and we laughed again.
“I get why you’d say that, huh. Everyone thinks I’m the bully, whereas he is. Justin us always in my business and when I talk, I become the bully. Trust me, he is not a victim.” She let out and I just laughed..
Actually, they are both the victim and bully, it just depends on the situation at that moment. But the good thing is that they get each other so well, so there’s really no need for worry. They love and care for each other one hundred percent.
We got in the car and then continued our talk and it got really interesting that even after we pulled in front of my apartment, we spent the next ten minutes talking.
“I better let you go home now before Justin goes crazy.” I said as I opened the door and got out.
“Have a nice night, and make sure to dream about me.” She let out while I just shook my head.
Seeing as the living room was dark, I knew Brad was in bed already so I moved quietly so I won’t wake him. I barely closed the door when the lights came on and the sight in front of me was a surprise.
There were balloons everywhere as if we were throwing a party. Brad was there too, smiling as he motioned to come closer.
“What’s happening here?” I asked while he held my hand and led to me sit.
“Nothing much, just trying to appreciate you for making living here easy for me.” He retorted and then handed me a card which had a handwritten note.
“It’s been a month of living together and I just want to take a minute to appreciate you, for making life easy for me. I know we started rough but we eventually found a common ground and it’s been good since then. I hope it stays that way. Always remember that you’re a sweet person with a kind spirit and I’m grateful to God for making you cross my path. Thank you once again.” I read it out loud and I was adding reactions all through making him laugh.
“You’re such a drama Queen, you know?” He let out.
“I’m not, this really means so much, Brad. Thank you, why didn’t you tell me though? Atleast I would have arranged something for you too. Now I just feel bad.” I relayed.
“I know you’d feel that way but I wanted it to be a surprise. It wouldn’t be if I told you.” He explained and I nodded.
“Yeah, I get you. I will definitely get you something too. You can’t say no because I won’t change my mind so don’t even bother asking me not to.” I said and he swallowed the argument he had.
“Let’s get you a drink,” he said instead and then grabbed the wine.
It popped open and he poured us a glass each. I took mine and just downed it in a go.
“Ohh, that’s it. Two can play the game for sure.” He exclaimed and then downed his drink too.
We both burst into laughter at our childishness. But it seemed fun so we decided to keep it going.
While he was pouring us a refill, I looked around and I just smiled. I felt so seen and it’s not only about the decor and party. It just feels so good that he made me feel special.
“Here,” he said and then passed the drink to me. I didn’t rush it this time around, I was just sipping it slowly while he also sat with his.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked, finally breaking the silence between us.
“Nothing much. I’m just thinking about the whole thing. I feel so seen and special, and that just brings back some memories.” I replied.
“Oh, I’m sorry, that wasn’t my intention.” He replied too.
“No no, it’s not a bad thing. I’ve gotten over it but it helps to think about it sometimes. It straightens me up real quick, and times like this make me realize how much I settled, thinking it was love. We do silly things when in love, right?” I chimed in and he smiled.
He opened his mouth to talk but we locked eyes, and that was it. I can’t even explain what or how it happened. All I knew was something changed in the air around us and the tension rose so high. Before we knew what was happening, we were moving closer till our lips collided in a kiss.
It happened really fast and I stopped it almost immediately.
“Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry, that shouldn’t…” I couldn’t even bring myself to finish the sentence before I jumped up and stormed off into my room.
“Wait, Vivian, wait?” He called out but I didn’t.
I ran into my room and slammed the door behind me. I suddenly couldn’t lift my finger at that moment and I was stuck at the door.
“What just happened?” I muttered under my breath as the scene replayed in my head.
It was really fast but one thing seemed confusing about it. It felt oddly familiar like I had we had kissed before but that can’t be.
“Is Ally really right about falling in love with him?” I muttered again under my breath whike I tried to figure out why I was having that weird feeling.
“That’s not possible. I don’t think I am. He’s just my roommate, and nothing can happen between us. Tonight was a mistake.” I said to myself and I said that a few more times just to be sure I got it in my head.
I was tired of standing now and tried to go to the bed, but my legs still wouldn’t move no matter how hard I try…
“Okay now what’s happening?” I let out tiredly…
