Chapter Forty Three
**Days later/Times up**
Ron’s Point of View:
I stared down at the mobile phone on the table in front of me. I had to make the call. We made the choice, as a club, to lie. We would get the head of someone who resembles a club member and we would give up SOME weapons, but make sure we had enough for ourselves. As for the money... That was just an out-and-out lie. We didn’t have it, but they didn’t know that... hence why we needed weapons. This shit will get ugly.
Plus, when I see the son of a bitch who took my daughter, I’ll kill him.
‘Ron? Ron?!’ I looked up at Jackson, and then around the table at the others. ‘Go on.’ He encouraged me. I let out a long, deep sign and picked up the phone. Re-dialing the last number that called me, The Ck’s.
It rang a few times before someone answered, I put it on loudspeaker so the guys could hear. Alexander and the others had been warned to not say anything that would let them know it wasn’t just me on the other end.
‘Do you have our stuff ready? Or do we need to cause some damage to your pretty little thing’. My jaw clenched, but I swallowed my anger.
‘We’ve got what you want’.
‘The two mil?’
‘Yes’.
‘The weapons?’
‘Yes’.
‘The head?’ I looked up quickly and my eyes darted around the table again. ‘The head?!’
‘Yes’.
‘Good. Be in Oregon in the next two days, I’ll text you the location tomorrow. I have no doubts that you’ll be bringing your friends with you, but remember, it doesn’t even take a second to put a bullet right through your daughter's skull’. I saw Alexander's fists ball up on the table. Tommy put his hand on his shoulder, calming him down.
‘That won’t be necessary’. He chuckled on the other end of the phone. ‘We have done what you’ve asked up to this point, let me speak to her.’ There was a pause, and for a minute, I worried I’d fucked up, but then the voice changed.
‘Dad? Dad, is that you?’ I couldn’t help the sigh of relief and the smile that appeared on my face, hearing her voice. She was alive. She was a-fucking-live!
‘Yeah, it's me. Are you ok?!’
‘I’m scared’. It broke my heart to hear the fear in her voice.
‘I know, but don’t worry ok, Me and the guys are sorting it out and you’ll be home soon, Ok, just be strong’.
There was some noise in the background and suddenly the loudest smacking sound came through the phone.
‘Harley?! HARLEY!?!’ She wouldn’t answer. ‘HARLEY!?’
‘Sorry Ron, She’s taking a little nap right now. We’ll see how strong she stays when she wakes up. I’d hurry if I was you, some of my guys are getting a little... impatient’.
The line went dead, leaving us on the not-so-veiled threat. He was looking for an excuse to do something on the phone, an excuse to hit her so that we know that he had no problem hurting her, I’ll kill him for this!
There was silence in the room. No one spoke... likely because no one knew what to say. I knew I had to be the one to speak first ‘We call in every chapter from here to Washington to help us with this’. I told them.
‘Do we need that many?’
‘Outnumbering them will be better than them outnumbering us. We don’t know what they are doing or how many of them there are. If we go alone and shit gets bad, We need bodies to put between us and them. We need guys to defend while me... or Alex get Harley out of there’. I looked over at the broken man in the seat to the right of me. He nodded once, Agreeing.
‘Ok. I’ll make the calls’. Eric stood up and left the room, Pulp went with him. There were chapters all the way up the Northern border, going all the way to Washington. I wanted every single one of them to meet us in Oregon and be ready to take on the Portland CK.
This was going to be a war. A bloody war, and we had to be ready for it. We WILL be ready for it. I wasn’t leaving without my daughter... and the heads of every bastard involved.
**************************************************
I looked down the yard at the boys, saying their goodbyes to their other wives and girlfriends. Obviously, none of us knew how long this was going to take. A couple of days at least but the blow-back from this could stop us getting home straight away. I had told Jemma everything that was going on and she was going to close the garage for the week and make sure the family were safe and sound.
We weren’t stupid. We knew shit could go sideways and we knew that some of us might not come home. Some of these guys have families with small children, if they didn’t want to come, no one would think any differently of them, but every single one of them were eager to go and bring Harley home.
Eric and Pulp called around all the other chapters. We were meeting the Nevada chapter when we drove through and were meeting the others up in Oregon. It didn’t make sense for them to drive all the way down here to drive all the way back up with us.
‘Be safe, ok?’ Jemma told me as I climbed onto my bike.
‘I’ll try, baby’. She leaned forward and kissed me, long and lovingly.
‘Bring our girl home’. I nodded and she stepped away as I turned the bike on. The other guys got onto their bikes, knowing we were leaving now and I pulled away, followed by my MC...
***Hours Later***
The closer we got to our destination, the angrier I got. I needed to stay focused, I needed to make sure Harley was ok and safe and out of the way before I issued my own revenge. I had told Alexander that if I couldn’t get to her, he had to.
We were in agreement. Whichever one of us got to her first, was to leave and take her somewhere safe right away, then whoever is left, was to deal with the shit.
We made it to Nevada in time, and after saying our hellos, having a drink, and taking a piss, we were back on our bikes and continuing up north. By the time we were going to get there, it was going to be late. The guys had planned to stop off at a motel, which is where we were meeting the other chapters, and not far from the meeting point with the CK, but me and Alex wanted to carry on.
There wasn’t much we could do until tomorrow though, so, we just had to accept that all we COULD do was get some sleep and wait. We all needed to be well-rested so that we had our full strength to do what needed to be done.
As the late afternoon turned into the night, and night turned into Late night, we finally pulled up at the motel.
The other chapters were already there, evident by the rows and rows of bikes lined up in the car park and outside the rooms.
We had been riding for over 12 hours, all of us were exhausted. We once again said our hellos and greeted all of our brothers and thanked them for coming to help us. Family was family, We would do the same for anyone of them. I told them all we would party tomorrow night when what needs to be done IS done and Harley was back with us again, but tonight, everyone had a curfew.
I left everyone outside to chat while I went and checked myself in and got some rest.
It still felt wrong that we were so close to her and couldn’t go and get her, but I just had to remind myself that it was only one more night and we would.
One more night... and I’ll never let her out of my sight again!
