Chapter 44

Chapter 44

At my doorstep, Levi woke me up.

"Can you walk by yourself?"

"Huh? What did you say?"

I felt my head was empty and my body was light as a feather. I could only see Levi's lips moving, but I couldn't hear what he was saying.

He glanced at me and got out of the car first.

"Mr. Morgan, do you need help?"

The driver came around to my side and opened the door.

"No need, she's not heavy."

Levi carried me in his arms again. "You don't need to pick me up tomorrow morning. Take the day off."

"Okay."

The moon was full tonight, and the sky was especially bright. I could clearly see the bright stars, twinkling just like when I used to watch them with my mom when I was little.

My nose tingled. I missed my mother so much.

"Are you not feeling well?"

Levi saw tears in the corners of my eyes and asked.

"Why is he carrying me? How could he be carrying me?"

My mind was all mixed up. I was clearly with Nola, so what was happening now?

Was this another dream?

I was already asleep, right?

When the wind blew, I got confused. I couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't.

Levi always kept his distance from me, so being this close must not be real.

The only logic I had left was that I had some drinks with Nola, she took me home, then I fell asleep, and then I dreamed of Levi.

That formed a perfect loop.

"Levi, it's so strange. Why do I keep dreaming about you lately?"

I reached out to pinch his face. "Oh, it's soft, just like the real thing."

Levi looked down at me helplessly.

I smiled. "Don't be so serious. Smile a little. Don't you know you look good when you smile?"

"Levi, do you remember when we first met? Aiden brought me home, and you handed me a red apple."

"Levi, you know what? That was the sweetest apple I've ever had."

"Levi, later I found out you and Jessa were together. She took my dad, took my home. Shouldn't I hate her?"

"But I never wanted to take you away from her..."

I gestured wildly, trying to explain to him. I wanted her to know I wasn't some homewrecker, but that I liked him from the first time I met him.

I never thought about breaking them up. It's just that Aiden was so good to me. He wanted to bring us together, and I wanted to be with him too.

"Mr. Morgan, has Mrs. Morgan had too much to drink again?"

Indigo saw us come in and hurried over.

"Is Celestia back?"

"No, she fell asleep at the Morgan mansion. She was too tired from playing all day and fell asleep early."

Levi carried me all the way, with a thin layer of sweat on his forehead.

"Mr. Morgan, should I prepare soup or glucose?"

"Neither. She'll be fine after some sleep."

Indigo frowned. "Why did she drink too much again? You two go rest."

I closed my eyes, too tired to listen to them talk. It was such a nice dream, so why were they saying I drank too much again...

Levi put me on the bed and took off my coat.

I suddenly sat up.

"Don't, don't touch me. I can't trouble you like this."

I smiled shyly at Levi. "Mr. Morgan, I wouldn't dare bother you. Don't help, I'll do it myself."

Levi turned his face away, looking out the window.

"Mr. Morgan, how about I perform something for you? You don't know this, but I'm actually really good at singing." I started singing while taking off my coat.

Levi put my coat aside. "Are you going to act drunk now?"

I pointed at his nose. "What are you talking about, Levi? I know my limits, okay? What do you mean by acting drunk? I'm just entertaining you."

"Should I thank you?"

"Of course. This is an exclusive performance. Isn't this more interesting than Jessa playing the piano?"

Levi chuckled. "It is quite interesting."

I instantly felt proud. "What's so great about Jessa? Even her name is stolen from me. She wants to steal everything from me. Doesn't she know you're mine?"

I moved closer to Levi, stood by the bed, hugged his head, leaned down, and kissed him.

Since it was a dream anyway, I went all out. I just wanted to show that I was his wife, his legal wife!

Levi didn't move. Faced with my sudden kiss, he froze.

I had never been this forward before. Something I had thought about countless times was being realized so openly.

I was a bit short of breath, so I pushed him away.

Levi just watched as I sat back down. He raised his hand and wiped his lips.

Maybe I used too much force. His lip seemed to be bleeding.

"Levi, it's no big deal. Just grab a tissue and wipe it."

I seemed to be copying the tone he usually used with me when talking to him, and he actually did it.

"Do you want to wash up?"

I shook my head. "Why wash up? I finally dreamed of you, and you're being so obedient. What if I wake up after washing up?"

"Did you also think you were dreaming last time?" Levi recalled when I was drunk a few days ago.

"Why are you asking me such questions in my dream?"

I didn't want to think too much. I just wanted to stay in this rare, beautiful dream.

Levi walked over and arranged the pillow. "Then just sleep."

"You sleep too. It's boring by myself. Don't you know I'm always alone and very lonely?"

I grabbed Levi's hand, and he lay down right next to me.

We were very close, close enough that I could touch him with just a reach.

If this weren't a dream, we would normally leave enough space for a whole bed between us.

"Can you hold me while I sleep?"

It was a dream anyway, so asking wasn't too much, right?

Levi's arm wrapped around me, and instantly I felt warm.

"You're really nice."

"Is this a customer review?"

"Of course. You're doing great."

Levi's hand suddenly tightened. "I can do better."

I stopped him. "That's not necessary. You like boundaries. Let's just keep a certain distance."

Levi almost turned to stone. He was probably confused by me, too.

"Good dreams are rare. I'll sleep first. You shouldn't stay up late either, or you'll get dark circles."

I hugged him again. I was really going all out now. Since it was a dream, I had to make the most of it.

That night, I slept especially well.

I became addicted to the feeling of Levi appearing in my dreams.

So much so that the next morning, when I was thirsty, I asked Levi to pour me a glass of water.

He got up and got out of bed. "Still bossing me around?"

"Huh?"

I slowly opened my eyes. Levi had dark circles under his eyes and looked very tired.

"What did I boss you around about?"

Levi was speechless. "You forgot already?"

"Forgot what? You're making things up. When did I ever dare to trouble you?"

I sat up and looked at him, feeling confused. When did I, Blair, ever boss him around?
