Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Celestia's checkup results were good - she hadn't been injured again.

My anxious heart finally settled down a bit.

Nola helped me get the child home, and I repeatedly reminded Indigo not to let anyone take the child away casually in the future.

I understood that without Levi's permission, Jessa couldn't have taken the child, and Indigo and the others were in a difficult position, too.

Elliot handed me a glass of water. "I was originally planning to come to your company at our agreed afternoon time, but since it was lunchtime, I thought we could have a meal together, so I came early."

"Sorry you had to see that."

I tried to force a smile. "But thank you for showing up; otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to handle it so quickly."

Elliot waved his hand. "Don't mention it, it was nothing."

"But is what they're saying outside true? Your husband and Miss Greer..."

"You gossip too?"

I cut him off.

Actually, not many people knew that Levi and I were married. My mind was in chaos, so I didn't realize that Elliot knowing Levi was my husband was significant.

"No, no, let's talk business."

I smiled politely too, not realizing that this smile would be twisted and misinterpreted by Jessa, who was secretly taking photos from the shadows.

Regarding the cooperation, we had some documents that needed signing. To get home quickly to take care of Celestia, I signed everything rapidly.

The contract had already been reviewed multiple times. I checked the key items and found no problems, so I didn't waste time.

"You're really straightforward. Aren't you afraid I'll trick you?"

I smiled. "We live in a society with the rule of law. I don't need to use a magnifying glass to look for hidden traps."

"Thank you for trusting me."

Elliot stood up and extended his hand. I also stood up and shook his hand politely. "Happy cooperation."

I never expected that Jessa would follow us and secretly photograph us, so when she showed up at my house with Levi that evening, I was extremely frustrated.

Indigo stood aside, very awkward, not knowing whether to serve dinner or not.

Levi sat on the sofa. When Celestia and I came downstairs holding hands, and I saw Jessa, I quickly told Celestia to go back to her room and wait for me.

I used the excuse that I forgot my phone to send Celestia away.

"Levi, you need to have a good talk with her."

Levi coldly threw some photos on the table.

I walked over and picked them up. They were all photos of Elliot and me together from the afternoon.

The angles were tricky, somewhat suggestive.

Only then did I realize that Jessa had been using underhanded tactics behind the scenes to frame me.

"Nola had something come up, so I went to sign the documents in her place."

"I think you two were on a date!"

Jessa picked up one photo. "Blair, look how intimate you two are. Though your date location is quite special."

"Don't talk nonsense!"

"I'm not talking nonsense. The facts are right here. Don't tell me Blair is pregnant and you went for a checkup?"

I was instantly enraged by her. "Don't spread rumors, or I'll sue you!"

"Oh my, Levi, she's so fierce..."

Jessa moved closer to Levi's side.

This incident made Levi misunderstand, and maybe he would divorce me, but if I wanted a divorce, I couldn't be framed and wrongly accused like this.

"If you don't believe me, you can go ask him."

Jessa said again, "Oh please, if you ask him, you two have already coordinated your stories, of course you'll say the same thing."

I was afraid Celestia would suddenly come out, so I hoped to end this farce quickly.

"Jessa, is it fun for you to scheme against me like this? Don't you know why I was at the hospital?"

If she hadn't hurt Celestia, we wouldn't have had to discuss the cooperation hastily at the hospital.

Jessa felt guilty but still stubbornly accused me. "You're fooling around with another man, how would I know..."

I had never been falsely accused before, so I could barely control myself, but I couldn't let her bully me like this without reason.

"The hospital has surveillance cameras; we can check them. Don't use these few photos to falsely accuse me." I looked at Levi. "Are you here with her to interrogate me?"

Levi looked at me, wanting to speak but stopping.

I smiled bitterly. "You'd rather believe an outsider?"

He glanced at Jessa, and that look instantly made my heart ache. I spent every day with him, but as soon as Jessa came back, there was no trust left for me.

They stood together openly, so even if I had found another man, would Levi really care?

"Blair, you'll make Levi sad like this. You're Mrs. Morgan, you should behave properly."

I immediately shot back, "You still remember I'm his wife!"

This time, Levi was stunned too.

I had never said anything like "his wife" in front of him before. I had always quietly contributed behind his back, never demanding recognition in public.

"Mommy, why are you arguing?"

Celestia came over with my phone. She pouted at Jessa. "Auntie Jessa, stop arguing with my mommy. Don't make things difficult for my mommy about the cooperation."

As soon as our daughter appeared, Levi instantly softened.

Celestia walked to the sofa and hugged his neck. "Daddy, Auntie Jessa took me to eat pizza and asked me to tell Mommy about the cooperation. Mommy didn't agree, Auntie Jessa wouldn't let Mommy leave, and she grabbed my arm and pushed me to the ground..."

Celestia turned and picked up the photos from the table. "This uncle is very nice. He had someone take me to the hospital. Look, he must have had work to discuss with Mommy."

Our daughter placed the photos in front of Levi. He didn't look at them and casually set them aside.

"Celestia, I didn't mean to..."

"It's okay, I forgave you a long time ago. Mommy always tells me to be friendly and kind to people."

Even a child of a few years old understood this principle, but Jessa just didn't. She could have ill will toward me, but she couldn't hurt my daughter.

"She took Celestia away and let the child get hurt. I didn't pursue it, but there won't be a next time."

I said seriously to Levi, "Don't involve children in adult conflicts."

Jessa lowered her head, then suddenly started making excuses again. "Blair, it's all a misunderstanding. I didn't hurt Celestia on purpose."

"If you secretly photograph me again or spread rumors about me, I will sue you!"

I didn't want to waste more words with her. Her coming to my house with these photos to make a scene was intolerable.

"Auntie Jessa, don't talk nonsense next time. My mommy can't help you, so please stop bothering her." Celestia grabbed Levi's hand. "Daddy, Auntie Jessa didn't teach me piano. I don't want to learn piano anymore."

Hearing that Celestia no longer wanted to learn piano, Jessa completely panicked. This was her means of getting close to Levi and her usual excuse for coming to our house.

"Okay."

Levi agreed with Celestia. He collected the photos one by one and then threw them all in the trash.

"I'll have the driver take you home."

Jessa's eyes widened. "Levi, don't let her fool you. She doesn't want to be with you anymore. She's found another man."

"I'll make my own judgment."

Levi walked straight toward the study. I took Celestia's hand, preparing to go have dinner.

"Miss Greer, the car is here. Mr. Morgan won't be keeping you for dinner." Indigo tactfully ushered her out.
