Chapter 149
David's home has a very local style. He must really like our culture, otherwise he wouldn't have chosen this kind of decor. The furniture is mostly wooden.
Elliot walked over and pointed at the expensive teapot on the coffee table. "I have another one. I'll have someone send it to you another day."
"I like drinking tea, but I don't care about tea sets. Mr. Sullivan, you should keep it and give it to someone more important."
I really didn't want to accept his gifts anymore. He'd already sent things to my house twice, and I didn't even know if Levi knew about the second time.
"Don't be so distant with me. We're old classmates, at least closer than you and David, right?"
I looked at David busying himself and thought that sometimes Elliot wasn't as reliable as David. At least David was straightforward and said what he meant.
"We're all friends, no need to rank who's closer."
I slowly sat down, looking at the table full of Eldorian-style food. Today I was catching up with foreign trends.
Elliot sat down across from me, and then Ava brought two cups of ice cream and placed them on the table.
"Blair, you like ice cream too, right?"
Ava looked into my eyes. We looked at each other like that.
I smiled. "I do, but I can't today. My stomach isn't feeling well, I can't eat cold things."
"It should be fine, right? Cold food doesn't necessarily hurt your stomach."
Ava thought I would like these things as much as she did. She had carefully prepared this just now.
"Traditional medicine says cold food harms the stomach. I really can't eat it. I prepared hot milk for her." David placed the milk in front of me.
One cup of ice cream, one cup of milk, both representing their warmth.
I gradually let down my guard. They were being sincere with me, I shouldn't be such a spoilsport.
"A little bit should be fine. Let me try it."
I decided to try the ice cream to give Ava some face. Always refusing her would make her feel defeated.
If it weren't for the Levi situation, I think I wouldn't dislike this kind of straightforward woman.
"How is it? Does it taste good?"
"It's delicious."
Ava smiled happily and looked at them. "I told you she'd like it."
"Ms. Ember is respecting you. If it were me, she probably wouldn't eat it."
Elliot was saying flattering words, but they were also a bit sour. I had indeed been keeping my distance from him.
"Let's eat, everyone."
David picked up his camera and started snapping photos of the delicious food he'd made. I kept my head down eating the food on my plate, hoping it would end soon.
"Blair, everyone posts photos on social media these days. Aren't you going to take any?"
"She hasn't updated her social media in a long time."
Almost half a year now. Ever since I found out Levi and Jessa met abroad, I hadn't updated my social media.
Some days I was absorbed in my decision to divorce, some days I was busy with work, and some days I was dealing with the Morgan family matters. Anyway, I hadn't felt like posting on social media in a long time.
I put down my fork and took a sip of milk.
"Today is indeed a beautiful day. I'm honored to eat such delicious food with everyone. I can just enjoy this happiness myself."
Ava tilted her head looking at me. "If you share it with everyone, wouldn't more people be happy?"
"Would people who see it really feel the same way?"
I said casually, but this seemed a bit hard for Ava to understand. She frowned.
"She can be a bit sentimental sometimes, but this is a personal choice. Let's not talk about it anymore."
Elliot explained for me, but it was just his understanding.
Ava suddenly laughed. "I have a friend who hasn't posted anything on social media either."
"Who?"
David put down his camera and finally started eating.
"His name is Levi Morgan."
"Oh, him."
David must have heard her mention him many times, so he wasn't surprised.
"Yeah, he doesn't post anything on social media. There's no way to learn more about him. It's really frustrating." Ava rested her chin on her hand, looking a bit annoyed.
Elliot secretly glanced at me. When it came to Levi, no one knew him better than me, right?
Ava continued, "He brought a lot of gifts when he visited my family this time, all very nice things. My dad was very pleased."
"But they weren't for you."
David and Ava must be good friends, speaking completely bluntly to each other.
"Well, if he gave them to my dad, naturally they're mine too."
Ava put her hands together. "I'm praying right now that he falls in love with me, so I can marry him."
"You don't mind that he has a kid?"
"Of course not. I've seen photos of his daughter, she's very cute. I really like her."
Ava knew Levi had a child and still wanted to marry him. She must be quite the romantic.
David gave a thumbs up. "Then go ahead and pursue him bravely."
"He's really handsome. The first time I saw him, he was traveling with his family. His grandfather and my grandfather are good friends."
Her grandfather and Aiden are good friends?
Then Aiden should know her, right? Does he know about Levi letting her work at the Morgan Group?
Logically, such important news should have reached his ears long ago, but when we met at the hospital that day, Aiden didn't say a word.
"Don't be silly."
I ate seriously, listening to her talk about Levi.
"The purpose of my visit this time is to learn more about his life. I want to figure out his family relationships. I just don't know where his wife went. Why is there only a child but no wife?"
"Cough cough..."
I choked, coughing lightly twice. I tried to press my stomach to calm myself down.
Ava asked me with concern, "Blair, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine."
I raised my hand to show her I was okay. I just got excited when she mentioned Levi's wife and accidentally choked.
Elliot handed me a tissue. "Don't get excited."
He knew exactly why I reacted that way. Since he knew I was Levi's wife, and they were friends, why didn't he tell her the truth?
Was he not saying anything because of me, or was he afraid of offending Levi by speaking up?
"Levi is coming back soon. My dad said he already came to say goodbye that day, saying he'd be back after handling some things."
Ava took out her phone and showed it to me. "Blair, does this dress look good? I see you dress really well, you have good taste."
She wanted to wear this when Levi came back? She was asking me for advice now?
I'm Levi's wife. What should I say? I should be angry about this, but right now this absurd feeling made me almost lose it for a moment.
"It looks good."
Ava excitedly shook my arm. "I knew you'd like it too. I'll buy two, and give you one."
In that instant, a fun idea came to my mind. If Levi saw her wearing this dress, and then came home to see me wearing the same one, what would his reaction be?
