Chapter 138
Faye called me, saying she had something important to tell me tonight and asked me to come home right after work without working overtime.
Based on her personality, I figured it wasn't urgent or bad news, otherwise she would have come to the office to find me already instead of waiting for me to get home.
As soon as I walked in, she pulled me over and sat me down on the sofa.
"Blair, we've figured out the situation with that female CEO at my brother's company. I'll let Sophia fill you in on the details."
I was confused - this was the big deal she mentioned? I actually wasn't that interested in Levi's company's female CEO.
Then Sophia pulled out a document from her bag and handed it to me.
"Blair, take a look at this."
I took it and opened the file - [Analysis Report on the Morgan Group's New CEO.]
Young people really know how to have fun, actually putting together a report like this. They must have too much free time at the company to do stuff like this.
"The female CEO is the daughter of a diamond tycoon from Eldoria, named Ava Davis. Today at the office she was chatting with us secretaries, saying Mr. Morgan is on a business trip in Eldoria."
Faye exclaimed, "My brother is in Eldoria!"
"Yes, and she said Mr. Morgan is discussing business with her family, and that they've been friends for many years. He specially invited her to work at the company because he trusts her."
Levi's friend for many years?
Trusts her a lot?
Specially invited?
When all these things connected, my mind got a bit confused.
I flipped through the pages one by one, but my brain couldn't process any of the information - it was completely blank.
Sophia counted on her fingers, "Oh, and she said she's bringing gifts for everyone tomorrow, saying this is what Mr. Morgan taught her - that in our country we value treating people politely."
"But why does treating people politely require giving gifts?" Faye frowned. "Even though I'm not often in the country, I know that much."
Sophia giggled, "Maybe she doesn't understand it fully. She also asked us to prepare gifts for her tomorrow. I'm worried - I don't know what someone with her status would even appreciate."
"So now you have to spend money on this." Faye chuckled.
The two of them whispered together, making fun of this female CEO.
I put down the document and stretched, "Let's get ready to wash up and eat, gossip squad."
Sophia gave me a pleading look, "Blair, give me some ideas - what should I give her?"
I'm not good at gift-giving either. Most of the time I don't need to worry about this stuff at home. Only during holidays when I go back to the Morgan mansion do I casually prepare some gifts.
"You're really asking the wrong person. Blair hates dealing with this stuff. My brother's matters are handled by his assistant, and the office politics at Blair's company are handled by Nola."
Faye really does understand me - I truly have little experience with this.
"Ugh, who's going to save me? What am I going to do when I go to the office tomorrow? And it's already dark and I still haven't figured it out." Sophia looked worried.
This was exactly like the feeling of having homework assigned but not knowing how to do it.
"If you ask me, just bring some local specialties. For her, everything would be novel." Faye suggested.
Sophia threw up her hands, "Her family is so rich, what could she possibly want that she doesn't have?"
"In that case, it's easy - just give her some little things you like. The thought matters more than the gift itself." I truly believed this from the bottom of my heart.
"Blair's right. Her family has everything, nothing is lacking. Even if you took out all your savings to buy something expensive, it wouldn't be special to her."
Faye continued, "Besides, you're just a junior secretary who hasn't even received a paycheck yet, haha."
"Don't laugh at me."
Sophia tugged on Faye's arm, "I really can't believe this. Who knew internships would have this kind of situation?"
"Well, you just happened to run into this. I didn't have this when I was interning."
Faye laughed even harder, and the two of them playfully tussled for a bit.
I smiled along with them, "If you have something with your own personal touch, give her that. If not, have Indigo take you to the storage room to pick something out."
"No need, Blair. I'll take your advice - it's the thought that counts. I'll give her a little doll I crocheted myself."
Faye glared at her, "Didn't you say you'd make one for Blair first?"
Sophia pouted, "This is a special situation. The gift I'm preparing for Blair is already in progress. I said it was a secret, and now you've gone and mentioned it."
Faye covered her mouth, her whole body going stiff.
"Where's Celestia?"
Since I'd walked in, we'd been talking about the female CEO the whole time, and I hadn't seen Celestia anywhere.
"Oh, I forgot to mention - Grandpa missed Celestia, so he took her again."
I frowned, "Not Celestia's grandparents?"
"No, Grandpa said the house was too quiet and wanted Celestia to come over. I think Grandma got some new treasure again."
Faye pouted, "Every time there's something good, it's always saved for Celestia."
"Celestia is so adorable, everyone can't help but dote on her." Sophia said from the side.
Even I'm envious of this - Celestia is truly surrounded by everyone's love.
The flames in the fireplace were bright. I touched my belly, hoping my two babies would also be treated kindly in the future.
"Blair, how about I go to the office tomorrow to check out this female CEO? Sophia's not experienced enough to get a clear read on her."
I patted her shoulder, "Young people shouldn't waste time on gossip. Who she is and what she wants to do has nothing to do with me."
Faye pursed her lips, "Aren't you worried she might be my brother's romantic trouble?"
"If she is, then let them be together. If not, your brother will handle it himself."
I was already very calm about it. I kept reminding myself not to waste energy worrying about these things. Right now I just wanted to focus on having a healthy pregnancy.
The first three months are especially important - nothing is more important than taking care of the pregnancy.
"Mrs. Morgan, dinner is ready. I made it according to your requests today. Come try it and see if it's to your taste." Indigo came over carrying a fruit platter - she had already prepared the after-dinner fruit.
I took out a gift box from my bag and handed it to Indigo.
"I just remembered today that I haven't given you a scarf this year. I picked out a red one."
Indigo's eyes reddened with emotion - she's always easily moved.
"Mrs. Morgan, thank you for thinking of me. Mr. Morgan already gave me a big bonus earlier and told me to buy things I like. You two are too good to me."
"You deserve it."
I'm truly grateful for Indigo's dedication to the household. Although she's a servant, in my heart she's like a trusted confidante.
"Blair, you're all giving gifts and stuff - I should get a gift too, right?"
Faye blinked her eyes, hinting at me.
"Of course you'll get one. Once I'm done with all this busy stuff, I'll take you out for a couple days of fun."
"You promise?"
"Of course. Sophia too - otherwise I'd be letting you both down after all the intel you've been digging up for me."
We all laughed together - being with young people is just full of joy.
