Chapter 130

Chapter 130
The next morning, when the alarm went off, I quickly got up and freshened up.

When I came downstairs, there was a huge gift box in the living room.

"Indigo, what's going on?"

Such a big gift was quite surprising.

Indigo secretly gave me a look, and I glanced over at Levi. He was holding a cup of coffee, but his face looked very gloomy.

Indigo wanted me to look at him, but he seemed unhappy?

Wasn't this from him?

I frowned and shook my head, indicating I had no idea what was happening.

Indigo walked over to me in small steps, "Mrs. Morgan, didn't you see the card on top? It's for you."

I picked up the card and read, "Dear Ms. Blair Ember, Happy New Year!"

There wasn't even a signature. I had no idea who sent the gift. In this house, besides Levi, there was no other possibility.

Could Levi be angry about the word "dear"?

He wouldn't get angry over me - at least not in all these years we'd been together.

"Mrs. Morgan, why don't you open it and see what's inside," Indigo suggested I unwrap it, in case there was more information inside.

I also wanted to know who it was from. Maybe it was some promotional gift mailed to the house.

Just then, Levi walked over.

"Your admirer is quite romantic, huh?"

When he said that, my heart sank. How could he just accuse me like that? How was this my admirer? I knew nothing about it - I was just as confused.

"Don't talk nonsense."

"It was delivered right to the house. Ha."

Was Levi angry?

Jealous?

Or just losing it?

"I don't know what's going on. Let me open it, and we'll find out." I tried hard to explain.

Levi put on his coat. "You can enjoy it by yourself."

I held back my anger and said nothing more. Watching his back, I felt very wronged.

First thing in the morning, he was saying things that hurt me.

"Mrs. Morgan, Mr. Morgan is probably just jealous, hehe. Open it and take a look. If there's a misunderstanding, just clear it up. I'll talk to him later."

Indigo helped unwrap the gift box. Inside were several more boxes, like the kind where someone makes up for years of missed gifts all at once.

I felt upset, "I'm not opening them. I need to go to work."

"Mrs. Morgan, I'll unwrap them all for you. If I find any information, I'll call you."

"Okay."

My mood had already been ruined by Levi's sarcasm. I clearly didn't know who sent it, yet he had to think the worst of me.

Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, but I lost control of my emotions easily and often felt like crying.

As soon as I got to the office, Elliot called.

"Hello?"

"Ms. Ember, did you receive the gift?"

"You sent it?"

Finally, I knew. All morning, I'd been anxious and upset, my emotions all over the place.

"Yes."

He laughed on the other end of the phone, "It's the New Year - just a small token."

"Uh, thank you."

I didn't know how to express my feelings. The handwritten "dear" on the card made me uncomfortable, too, and it caused Levi to misunderstand.

"I'm really sorry about last night. It's my fault for talking too much and making things unpleasant." He apologized for last night.

It wasn't really his fault. I just couldn't stand Michael, and my words got a bit harsh.

"It's fine, Mr. Sullivan. You're really too kind. I'll send you a gift in return."

I've always kept things professional. Those gifts weren't official presents - they were very personal, beyond what our relationship called for.

"No need, really."

"I'll thank you properly in person another day. I need to get to work now."

I hung up the phone, but my heart was racing. Thinking about those gifts, I really felt Elliot had crossed a line.

I also remembered how last night, when Michael was about to lose his temper, Elliot was the one who stopped him.

I felt uneasy. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I felt like things weren't as simple as they seemed, though I couldn't find any evidence.

Nola had already put a cup of coffee on my desk. Just as I was about to drink it, I remembered I was pregnant, so I got up and switched it for water.

Thinking about it from another angle - if someone sent Levi a gift and I saw it, I'd be unhappy too, right?

So if Levi left angry, did that mean he cared about me?

Thinking this way, I felt better.

That evening on my way home, I specially bought a small cake. I wanted to explain the gift situation to Levi properly.

As soon as I walked in, Indigo called me to wash my hands and eat.

"Mrs. Morgan, don't wait for him. Mr. Morgan went on a business trip."

I had just opened the small cake when I was told this news.

"He's on a business trip again?"

Indigo nodded, "Yes. I was organizing those gifts for you today, and when I unwrapped them all, there were little notes saying things like 'Happy New Year at age one' all the way up to now. Mr. Morgan came home and saw them, and he was very angry."

"He was very angry?"

"Yes."

This was a huge misunderstanding.

I couldn't defend myself now, and the person I wanted to explain to wasn't even home.

"Mrs. Morgan, have you been attracting admirers lately? Even I can tell - this looks like it's from someone pursuing you." Indigo thought so too.

I sighed, "I'm already a mother. Where would I have time for such thoughts? I just started working recently, and before that, I was always under his watch. Besides, you know better than anyone how I feel about him, don't you?"

Indigo panicked, "Mrs. Morgan, I know that of course, but Mr. Morgan misunderstood. He said he won't come back until you realize your mistake."

"I..."

I was speechless. Now he was turning it around on me?

In this situation, I was a victim too. I didn't know why Elliot did this. I was freaking out about receiving such gifts, too. Not only did Levi not wait for my explanation, but he also left home.

"Mr. Morgan only misunderstood because he cares about you. Do you know who sent them?"

"I know."

I knew, but I didn't know how to explain it. How could I tell Levi? Elliot was my business partner. He did cross a line, and I really couldn't explain it clearly.

"Then it's easy. I'll explain for you. Just tell me what happened."

Looking at Indigo's sincere eyes, I felt lost.

This really wasn't easy to explain clearly. It was simple - Elliot somehow got his wires crossed and sent me these things.

"I'll explain it myself."

I really couldn't express my frustration now. I never expected Levi to be jealous. When Jessa used to give him things, I never made a scene.

But this was different - Elliot and I were innocent. My whole heart was with my family.

Elliot was strange, too. If he were apologizing for the Michael incident, these gifts would be completely inappropriate. He could have sent tea gift sets or something, but instead he chose something so... suggestive.

Lying in bed, remembering Levi's back this morning, I felt especially wronged. I was carrying two babies, and he wouldn't come home.
