Chapter 127

Chapter 127

Early in the morning, I went to the hospital for a checkup.

When I left, Levi was still sleeping.

I'd only slept a few hours and wasn't in great shape, but with things on my mind, I'd slept restlessly.

Indigo asked if I was going out. I brushed him off with a few words - I didn't plan to tell anyone until I had results.

Feeling really anxious, I sat in a chair waiting for the results. I ran into the doctor who'd treated me before, chatted with him briefly, then sat down to look at my phone.

I remember when I was pregnant with Celestia, the checkups were always pretty quick - a urine test should have been enough to confirm it.

This time, they also drew blood and did an ultrasound.

"Blair Ember!"

Hearing the nurse call my name was like an alarm going off in my head. I quickly went into the examination room.

The doctor was all smiles. "Congratulations, you're about nine weeks pregnant, twins, both looking good. Remember to come for regular checkups."

Twins?

Over two months already?

My head was buzzing. Going big right from the start?

"With twins, you need to be really careful, don't overdo it, make sure to rest."

"Blair?"

"Oh!"

I snapped back to attention and smiled at the doctor. "I got it."

"Alright then, cheer up, this is such great news, right? Your mood affects the babies' development, too." The doctor's kind face put me at ease.

I walked out absentmindedly holding the test results, so excited I wanted to jump. Would Levi be really happy if he knew?

'I'm amazing, actually pregnant with twins, never even dared to imagine...'

I was in such a good mood, wanting to share this news. I was about to call Levi when Cleo called me instead.

"Hello?"

Nothing good ever came from her contacting me.

"Blair, where are you?"

"I'm..."

"Hayden's missing..."

Cleo started crying before she could finish.

"If Hayden's missing, you should go look for him. What's the point of crying to me? Where did he go missing? When did this happen?"

"I went out shopping this morning, the nanny said the kid wasn't home anymore; he's gone."

I was really speechless. Her kid went missing, and instead of calling the police, she called me. Where was I supposed to find him?

"Call the police and have them check the security cameras."

I put the report back in my bag. Going shopping so early, and how does a kid just disappear from home?

"I think my brother found him; he just sent me an address. I'll send it to you, gotta go."

If he's found, then just bring him home. Why send me the address? I really didn't understand what Cleo was doing, but I had to go to the address to find them.

I got there before them. I saw Hayden with Michael and the others.

This was an upscale hot spring resort, the kind of place people like to go in winter.

"Hayden, she really likes you too, and even bought you Lego toys. Go pour her a drink." Michael was lounging there, eyes full of mockery.

Just then, Levi arrived too.

Hayden obediently poured the woman a drink. Just as he was about to turn around, Michael stopped him. "Tell her, 'You're the best, you're the most beautiful.'"

I never expected Michael to bring Hayden here to humiliate him like this. He was just a kid who couldn't tell right from wrong, especially when it was the dad he wanted to see, tempting him with toys he liked.

"You're the best, you're the most beautiful."

"Hahaha..."

Michael and the others laughed. He didn't see Hayden as his son at all, but as a toy to play with.

"Hayden, give her a kiss, and I'll buy you another big toy."

Michael looked like he was waiting for a good show. This time, Hayden hesitated, not moving.

"Hurry up, or I won't give you that toy either."

"Dad..."

"What are you hesitating for? Useless!"

Levi clenched his fists. He pushed open the door and charged straight at Michael.

Before I could stop him, his fists were already raining down on him...

"Help, he's hitting someone, someone help, help..."

Michael's woman screamed in fright.

I ran in and picked up Hayden. That's when Cleo arrived too.

"You damn kid, did you run off again? What are you doing here..."

Cleo slapped Hayden right away, making the child cry.

"Levi, I'm warning you, this is assault, this is illegal. I will definitely sue you." Michael struggled.

Right now, he was losing. Levi kept punching him hard, showing no signs of stopping.

"Go stop him! If this keeps up, he'll beat him to death, then my brother will really go to jail!"

Cleo ordered me to stop Levi. Why didn't she go herself?

"Stop it, that's enough..."

I went forward to stop him. When Levi heard my voice, he paused. In those few seconds of pause, Michael flipped him over and pinned him to the ground, beating him up.

"Blair, help out."

Cleo was still ordering me around, even though she was way tougher than me, and I'd never fought anyone.

I had a baby in my belly. If I rushed in and got hit...

Logic reminded me I needed to protect myself.

"I called the police, stop now or you'll be sorry!"

"Michael, I'll fight you!"

Cleo rushed up and threw Michael aside. I could hardly believe my eyes - she could actually knock down a man!

Michael fell to the ground. Just as he was about to get up and fight back, Cleo pushed that woman onto him, knocking him down again.

"You bastards, how dare you mess with my son and hurt my brother? I'm not done with you!" As Cleo was about to attack again, Levi held her back.

"Cleo, don't dirty your hands. Let me handle this."

Levi protected his sister behind him. The woman on the ground started begging, "This has nothing to do with me; he's the one who brought the kid here."

"You!"

Michael glared viciously at his woman.

The woman got up from the ground. "This is terrifying. You people, I shouldn't have gotten involved with you."

"I'm leaving you. I've put up with your domestic violence several times already. You even betrayed the Morgan family, such a good family, let alone someone like me with no background."

Michael never expected to be backstabbed. Right now, this felt more humiliating than the beating, completely losing face.

"Heh, you just now figured out his true colors? You think getting my stuff will make you rich and prosperous?"

Cleo looked at Michael, tears falling. "You could have had a good life, but you had to stir up trouble. Look at yourself now, what a mess!"

She still loved him, even though he kept making mistakes, even though he never changed.

I took off the scarf from my neck to bandage Levi. His hands were covered in blood, and he was injured in many places. Michael had really gone all out just now, so hateful!

This was the first time I'd seen Levi beat someone up like this. His violent punches sent chills down my spine.
