Chapter 26

The goddess Fortune was still on the weasel's side when Aaron, cleaning his cigar on the house's terrace, seemed surprised by Federica's arrival. Aaron immediately opened the house door and took the ferret that Federica was holding to a special room hidden under the stairs as if he knew what was happening.

The teenage girl was momentarily mesmerized by the room, which was dominated by white paint with a pine scent that hit her nose. Several medical tools are neatly arranged in glass cupboards on the left and right sides of the room, complete with a sink and several doctor's clothes hanging. A bed was in the middle of the room, with lights like in the operating rooms he saw on television.

"Put the weasel down, Fed!" Aaron ordered.

"Are you a doctor, Uncle Aaron?" Federica asked when she saw the alpha washing his hands in the sink.

"Yes, once, when I was young," Aaron answered, drying his hands with a tissue. Then he put on an apron and gloves and approached the ferret who was lying weakly.

"You're not old," said Federica.

Aaron looked at the girl for a moment. "Sometimes I have to retreat from the human world, Fed. At least I can help my Clan."

"But-"

"Save your questions for now. We have to save Christie."

"You know her?" Federica screamed in surprise.

Aaron nodded while cleaning the wound of the ferret named Christie. After he felt that there were no objects, the man began to sew up the ferret's fairly wide wound skillfully. Christie groaned in pain until tears came out, making Federica unable to bear it, and she chose to leave the room.

Her body froze when she met Ethan, who seemed to have just arrived from school. They were both silent and didn't dare to look at each other. In his heart, Ethan wanted to ask why Federica's clothes were full of blood. The feeling of worry appeared again, but he remembered that he was fighting with the girl with a sharp nose.

He chose to pass his friend towards the room like a passing wind.

Not long after, Aaron opened the door and said, "Christie is sleeping. Let her rest after I stitch up the wound."

Federica nodded and followed Aaron's steps towards the house terrace to continue smoking her cigar. For a moment, he looked back. "Is Ethan here?"

"Yes," answered Federica without looking at Aaron, sitting down in a rattan chair to the left of the middle-aged man who looked young.

"It looks like you two are arguing," guessed Aaron as he sat on a rattan chair.

The girl could only nod weakly while looking straight at Ethan's brothers, who were now running around like a pack of puppies.

"Now you may ask your pending questions, Fed."

"Oh, of course!" Federica started to get enthusiastic, turning to Aaron. "Are you a doctor? Why do you treat your kind when werewolves can heal themselves? Aren't we special creatures?"

"Yes, I used to be a doctor, just a general practitioner, Fed. Apart from that, several clans have privileges, including us. But not ferrets like Christie. They have a very long regeneration time. Unfortunately, we werewolves have one weakness. "

"What's that?"

"Wolfsbane." Aaron exhaled momentarily, "Indirectly, wolfsbane makes our bodies burn, helpless, and even death quickly. Even though it's just a splash of water, the burning sensation can cause a wound that won't heal."

"So?"

"I have medicine that weakens wolfsbane. At least a mixture of vervain with ash powder can neutralize the poison."

"Isn't that the material for killing vampires besides silver weapons?" Federica asked.

Aaron nodded. "Sure, but vampires can't be cured with wolfsbane when they accidentally drink vervain or get hit with ash powder."

"Then what do they do when exposed to the poison?"

For a moment, Aaron was silent. "Our blood is the antidote, Fed."

Immediately, Federica was silent for a long time. She had just learned one fact about why the wolf and vampire clans had never been able to unite apart from fighting over territorial territory in ancient times. Federica did not expect that these two clans would have quite difficult problems. They need each other indirectly, even though their lives are at stake. And she knows it is not easy to give one clan's life to a clan that has become so arbitrary.

"Does that also apply to all vampires? If so, wouldn't it be easy to kill the Grim Ripper before he awakens?"

Aaron stared at the gray sky, exhaling cigar smoke into the air, making Federica hold her breath. He didn't like someone who smoked cigars or cigarettes like Aaron or William. No matter how delicious the tobacco stick is, the smoke produced annoys other people. Not to mention, the long-term effects of it can also damage the lungs. Unfortunately, many people are lulled by the momentary pleasure of tobacco sticks rather than the impact.

While Federica covered her nose with her left hand, Aaron's thoughts drifted to the weapon that could kill the Grim Ripper. It was not easy to kill the strongest dream of the vampire clan, especially when weapons were discovered; in fact, their allies destroyed the weapons without any remains after the final battle in the early 1800s.

"Uncle Aaron?"

"Grim ripper. He's not that easy to kill, Fed. Even his descendants won't be easily killed with just vervain. Even though there are other weapons to kill them," Aaron said quietly, then turned to Federica, "I'm not sure what. "It's still there, Fed. The vampire followers of the Grim Ripper destroyed almost all the oaks and white pines in all parts of the world until none were left."

"How do you kill the Grim Ripper if the oak and white pine are gone?"

"We managed to hide one oak trunk and coat it with half blood to stick into the Grim Ripper's heart. Bomb! Instantly, his body burned. That was the only remaining oak trunk. If there is one now, I'm sure it's hidden."

"What about white pine?"

"I'm not sure. Even in this country, I'm not sure there are any."

Federica stared at Aaron's eyes intently, then pressed her voice and said, "We'll never know if we never try to look for it, Uncle Aaron. Shouldn't we start looking for that weapon? We never know when the Grim Ripper will rise, right?"

"Yes, you're right. We'd better start looking for that tree to the ends of the world. The fate of all the clans is in your hands, Fed."
