I got home to an empty house with a note from my parents informing me of their presence needed at some deal in Croatia till the end of this week. Perfect timing. I sent a quick text to Chase and went for a long shower.
40 minutes later I had 20 missed calls from Mila and Payton so I group called them back.
“bitch where even are you?” mila yelled
“sorry I was taking a shower what’s up.” I asked while towel drying my hair.
“wait, what is that on you neck.” Payton asked and I immediately picked up the phone from the counter to pull it closer to my face.
“what is where.” I countered faking concern
“oh we need to see this.” Mila said and both of them were already getting out of their perspective beds and wearing shoes.
“see what there is nothing to see.” I said
“I know you’re a trained lair but I am a trained analyst and you cannot lie to me it’s written on your face that something did happen.” Payton said
“we’re coming to yours I've already texted Davon.” Mila said and Payton nodded, before I had a chance to protest they cut the conference call.
I'm screwed.
I sent a text to chase saying 911 and a few seconds later he called.
“what, what is it? I'm in the car on my way to Anderson’s should I come to you?”
Aw, he cares about me. No. wait.
“mila and Payton are coming to mine cause they saw a suspicious mark on my neck and it’s all your fault!” I said panicking
“this is not why you text 911 killer. Fuck I got scared.” He yelled and then laughed.
“why are you enjoying this?”
“how can I not, you panicking voice is so cute.”
Did this man just call me cute instead of solving my problems? When the fuck do I need a ma to solve my problem when I have concealer.
“I'm just gonna put concealer and cover this up.” I replied
“ok killer, I'm sure that will work.”
“what do you mean?”
“have you seen it yet?” he said with a slight chuckle
I ran to the mirror and check out the spot. What the actual fuck.
“its bleeding?” I yelled and all I could hear was chase laugh, “oh I'm going to kill you chase.”
“looking forward to that.” He said still chuckling
“what do I tell them now?” I asked
There was a slight pause before he said, “I'm yours Valerie. Tell them that.”
My poor heart thumped again and so did my bedroom door.
“we’re coming in!” Mila shouted before storming in.
Payton attacked me to the floor and pinned me down while mila squatted next to my neck to inspect.
“ew what even is that, it’s like bleeding.” Mila reported
“my best work.” chase said, oh I kinda forgot he was still on call. The girls sat up straight, Payton still on me. They were clearly processing. For a bunch of geniuses they were putting the pieces together really slowly.
Both of them then looked at me and stared squealing.
“on that note I'm cutting the call, I've reached Anderson’s. Bye killer. Mila Payton get the details and report back.”
“nope” Payton said and cut the call.
I'm in trouble, so I grinned at them.
“finally!” Mila yelled while Payton helped me up.
“I know right, I've been dying of getting none and can’t even get some from others cause of the whole he's a killer and he will kill people with this secret black knife we have, in quotes, ‘whoever breathes near you’ “ I said with air quotes and both their faces were confused.
“you’ve been holding out on us.” Payton said.
“I really have but like I don’t even know if I should even say any of this cause I don’t know what all is secret vs what all is like screaming on top of the mountains to the world stuff.”
“ok Val first off, you need to tell us everything nothing is off limits in girlhood.”
“there is something you guys don’t know about my past with girl best friends”
“okay spill” mila asked and we sat on the floor in a triangle. I took a deep breath and started my story.
“well, I had this best friend in my old school and she was secretly in love with Charles. I would tell her everything he loved, like in life and in bed. In grave detail. She knew how much I loved him and everything and she slowly started getting in my head about all his red flags. My guards were already down but I didn’t know I could be manipulated like that. And so when Charles cheated on me the first time she made me stay with him and forgive him. And for months I was just in love but things were never the same.”
“don’t tell me she broke the code, cause I will find her and cut her for you bro.” mila said
