Adjusting their clothing, Thanatos and Evie looked to Minthe’s soul wildly as Minthe stretched her legs. “It feels amazing to not have to be in there any longer. Though I’d hoped by now you would have grown better taste in selection Thanatos.” Evie glared at her and Minthe laughed, “I’m going to enjoy this while I can, especially since you can’t put me back.”
Evie's eyes shot to Thanatos, the realization hitting them both at the same time. “That’s right necromancer, you may have been able to absorb my soul when I was alive, but now…you can’t touch me to do it again.”
Thanatos eyes blackened and he stepped forward. “But I can.”
She rolled her eyes, “Fine…send me to Hell, I don’t care anything is better than having to go back with her.”
“Thanatos, we need to call everyone……this doesn’t make any sense.” Walking out of the room still a bit dazed, she went to find her family.
Thanatos grabbed Minthe by the neck and raised her from the ground. “I’m not the same man I once was Minthe.” He tightened his grip. “I don’t have much patience for those who disrespect my wife.” He smiled wickedly as the souls grabbed at her arms and legs.
Her eyes widened. “W-what is this…”
“Well, you did always want to be mine didn’t you? I’m just giving you what you wanted.” He felt the souls attaching to him, and he heard Evie shout his name. Thanatos breathed deep and tried his best to calm until finally, the thrashing stopped. Putting Minthe down, he glared at her. “Consider yourself lucky. Let’s go.”
Making their way into the living room, Thanatos saw everyone was already there. “That was quick,” he murmured but no one said anything in return.
Their eyes trained on Minthe, Romulus turned and looked to Evie, “I can’t believe this.”
She sat on the couch. “Neither can I.”
“Where are Hades and Kore?”
Adam rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m certain they’ll come soon.”
Right on cue, the two entered the house. Running, Kore breathlessly spoke to her mother, “WE’RE HERE!”
Thanatos eyed the two, “What were you doing?”
Aphrodite smirked, “*Coming*…like Adam said.”
Hades’ mouth dropped and he looked to Thanatos who clearly didn’t understand what she had meant. He grinned at Adam while talking to her, “Not my fault it takes me a lot longer to come than others.”
Seeing Adam’s reddened face, Kore hit Hades in the arm, “Don’t bring Da-Dem into your immature sparring.”
Hades rubbed his arm. “Sorry, Adam. It was too good of a line to pass up.”
Adam shrugged his shoulders. “It’s no problem." He chuckled, “Not to mention I have a natural gift of making sure Aphrodite arrival is earth-shattering, no matter what door I use.”
Hades laughed, “High five to that!”
Romulus looked to Derrick, “You have any idea what the hell they’re talking about?” Derrick shook his head no.
Looking to Thanatos, Hades tilted his head, “Who’s that?”
“Minthe.”
His eyes widened. “Wha-”
Smiling, Minthe took a bow, “Oh look at that, I even managed to make a God speechless." She sized him up. “Oh…didn’t know the God of death was so attractive.”
He retched his head back and looked at Thanatos, “Really?... You really did *that* with this? And they say I have no standards.”
Evie laughed then scowled at her husband, “Trust me, I said the same thing.” She looked at Minthe fuming at her. “Kore?”
“Yes?”
“Do me a favor? Adjust the way she’s looking at me.” Saying nothing else, Kore walked towards Minthe and punched her hard in the face.
“YOU’RE AS INSANE AS YOUR MOTHER!” She cried.
Kore looked at her nonchalantly, “Don’t know you, or what you did, but if my mom wants you punched, I’m going to do it.”
“She tried to kill her and steal your father.” Derrick's smirk turned to a laugh, as Kore hit Minthe again.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!” Thanatos shouted, causing the room to still. He sighed, “I trying to remain calm, but Hades, I need you to make sense of this. How can she be here…when Evie absorbed her soul?”
Hades couldn’t understand either, “How did it happen?”
“Evie laid on my chest and flew backward and as I was trying to help her, I saw Minthe standing there.”
Hades looked to him in confusion. “But that’s what I’m not getting. You two have been married for years, and she’s been helping you…so why would a chest lay change that?”0
Aphrodite’s purple eyes gleamed. Her senses kicking in, she looked to Thanatos, “Grim Reaper. Tell the entire story.”
“I di-”
“We were having sex and it happened,” Evie said rolling her eyes.
Hades cackled, “Nice going dad.”
“Stop calling me that.”
Walking around Minthe, Hades looked from Thanatos to Evie, “How are you feeling Thanatos?”
“Pissed off.”
“And you?” Evie glared at her husband and he took a deep breath, his eyes slightly blackening. Hades shook his head. “Come here for a moment Evie.” She stood and joined their sides. “Step close to Thanatos but don’t touch him.”
Doing as told, she saw Thanatos' eyes completely blacken as his chest bubbled violently. Thanatos struggled to maintain his breathing, and Hades pulled her away. He looked from one to the other. “Whatever’s going on with you two, you need to fix it immediately.” He pointed to the bubbling mass. “I told you to control your rage, and that Evie affects you the most. You’re feeding off of her.”
Looking at Minthe, Hades walked towards her, “And I would bet they were trying to get their hands on you.” He raised his hand and inhaled deeply as a twisted grin found his face. “You’re evil. I can feel it. You most certainly belong in hell and trust, I'll make sure your stay is as horrible as you deserve.” Wisping his hand, he made her disappear.
“Thank you,” Thanatos mumbled his eyes still locked on his wife, “We need to talk.”
“I agree.” The two walked off and Hades scrunched his face.
“Anything like this ever happens to you two?” Romulus shook his head no. “Hmm…I just assumed since you’re both so damn happy all the time, maybe you could pull a light source from Derrick.” They looked to one another.
“I-I don’t think that possible.”
“Well, your family doesn’t seem to follow rules of possible now does it?”
Romulus's face reddened, “No I mean…we’re pretty happy when we’re in the moment and nothing has ever happened.”
Hades chuckled, “It’s not the sex, it’s the emotions. Thanatos feeds off of Evie’s anger. Kore and Adam feed off whatever the other’s feeling…I wonder…stand up.”
Hades motioned for Aphrodite to join him. Nodding at her, she produced two small pink veils of mist and injected them into Derrick and Romulus. Pulling it from their bodies, she switched them and injected them again.
The two stared at one another, and slowly Romulus's face beamed, “Wow…you feel this way about me? Really?!”
Derrick grinned, “That…wow…I knew you loved me but this…I didn’t know you felt this.” As the two felt the strong emotion of the other, Romulus looked to Hades.
“Go on…we’re all here in case anything goes wrong.”
Adam and Kore stepped in, and the four prepared for whatever would happen. Romulus's eyes whitened, as he looked into Derrick’s purpling. He placed his hand onto his chest and Derrick felt a warm sensation. Eyes widening, he stared at the life source Romulus pulled from his chest.
Hades clapped his hands. “I’M A FUCKING GENIUS!” He jumped up and down.
“But why doesn’t it hurt him?”
Aphrodite smiled, “Because Romulus, you’re feeding off of Derrick’s love.”
