Hades' Surprise (End of Season II)

*Two Weeks Later*

“Zeus how lovely to hear from you. I was almost certain you would be calling me eventually.” Sitting on his throne in the underworld, Hades looked at the hologram of his brother.

“Don’t play coy with me Hades, I’m not in the mood.”

Hades laughed, “What makes you think, I give a rat's ass what your mood is? Now, tell me what you want before you piss me off.”

Zeus seethed, “HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY?!”

Hades waved his hand haphazardly. “Oh no, I’m so sorry…please don’t come down here and punish me.” The look of rage on his brother's face gave him immense joy. “That’s right, I forgot the problem children sealed up the earth, and your dear sweet brother refuses to let you and your minions enter through the basement.”

Zeus rubbed his head. “Why are you taking their sides?”

Anger seeped into Hades. “Because you decided to not play fair. You started this shit, and instead of accepting your fate, you choose to try to kill innocent children. I may be an asshole, but even I’m above something so low Zeus.”

“You know when we figure out a way to get to you Hades, we’re going to rip you apart.”

Hades chuckled loudly, “Again Zeus, I’ve already accepted my death, there’s nothing you could say or do that would affect me more than knowing I’ll be gone soon.”

Hades saw his brother's face change, his lips curl almost into a snarl. “Tell me, dear brother, are you sure you aren’t helping them for a different reason?”

Hades arched his brow, “Nope, none other than pissing you off.”

Zeus placed his fingers to his lips. “I truly find that hard to believe.”

Sitting up, Hades glared at his brother. “What the hell are you getting at Zeus? Make it quick I have other things to do, like trying to salvage of the mess that you’ve made.”

Nodding his head, Zeus leaned back into his chair. “Of course, of course. I’ll be quick. You know, before Hermes died, I had a chat with him, and he showed me something quite interesting.” He chuckled, “Wait, wait, I know you like riddles.” Clearing his throat, Zeus' eyes gleamed as he threw back into his face, the words that Hades’ had once said to him, “Let’s see…ah yes…’two pair of soul ties…who’s powers should have never fused the way they did. Created two heirs that should not exist…two children, one a boy, one a girl, both so powerful...they could only be soul tied to Gods.’” Zeus knew he had Hades’ attention by the stone expression on his face. As much as they disliked one another, they knew each other’s tell.

“The boy of light, the son of the giver of life and the most powerful sorcerer on earth…he to be tied to the Goddess of love. The girl of pure darkness, the daughter of the reaper of souls and the most powerful necromancer known to man…well...she's a different story. Her inside so dark she could only be tied…to the God of death.”

Hades’ felt a chill crawl up his spine, “YOU LIE! That's not possible and you know it!”

Zeus cackled, “Do I lie? What would I gain from lying? Like you said we’re all going to die anyway…and there’s nothing I can say to ruffle your feathers.”

Glaring at his brother, Hades fumed, “What a new low you have stooped to use my dead wife to get under my skin.”

“OH, MY GOODNESS! YOU STILL DON’T GET IT!” Zeus cackled, “Come on brother, think hard you’ll get it! I know you will, just try a little harder. Remember you’re so much more knowledgeable than me.”

Hades slammed his first into the table. “IT’S NOT FUCKING POSSIBLE! HER SOUL IS GONE! IT WAS TAKEN TO LAY TO REST AS WITH ALL THE GODS TIES WHEN THEY DIE! SHE WAS TAKEN BY-” Hades paled.

“NOW YOU GET IT BROTHER! OH, I LOVE TO SEE THE LIGHT BULB GO OFF! I LIVE TO SEE THE SHEER HORROR SPREAD TO YOUR FACE!” Zeus cackled wildly, as Hades’ crashed stunned into his chair. “You know I have to say I’m enjoying this, knowing I’m not the only one Hermes fucked over. He may have used his trickery on me to create Apep…but he stole something that means everything to you.”

Hades’ entire body shook at the revelation. “It’s not true…it’s not true…he couldn’t have…”

“OH, BUT HE DID AND I COULDN’T BE MORE PLEASED! THE LITTLE RUNT DID SOMETHING RIGHT! YOU’VE MADE YOUR CHOICE BROTHER! LIVE WITH IT FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN!” Zeus couldn’t contain himself, the feeling of victory over Hades’ burning through his skin. “You are just like your Grim Reaper my dear brother! Apep blackened his heart, and Hermes blackened yours. You’ve spilled her name from your lips a thousand times, and you never even made the connection.” Thrashing through his palace, Hades roared in pain of knowing the truth, his brother’s voice drowning out.

“A GOD SO FILLED WITH RAGE…HE MISSED THE LITTLE CLUES RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. THAT HIS BELOVED WIFE SOUL HAD BEEN STOLEN…AND REINCARNATED INTO ANOTHER. ONE SO DARK SHE COULD ONLY BE TIED TO HIM…A CHILD GIVEN THE SAME NAME AGAIN…" As Zeus laughter tore through the walls, Hades dropped to his knees his heart feeling like it would give out at any second.

“CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARROGANT SON OF A BITCH… YOUR BELOVED KORE HAS RETURNED…OR AS YOU LIKE TO CALL HER... PERSEPHONE. LET ME BE THE FIRST TO SING YOU, YOUR CHEERS ON THIS SPECIAL DAY HADES’…THE VERY ONE THAT POSSESSES YOUR HEART, WILL BE THE VERY ONE THAT KILLS YOU.”
