Chapter 15

I smashed my glass cup against the floor causing blood to splutter across the floor. My breaths came out heavy as I walked back and forth in my dark room restlessly. I launched to my bed with claws, ripping my pillows to pieces, tearing long marks across my bedsheets. Yet my pain refused to cease. Every part of my body ached, and my insides still seemed like they were burning.

I groaned as I collapsed to my bed side, the pain in my head had dosed and my injuries were still yet to heal up. I almost screamed from frustration and anger intertwined.

My breaths ceased for a split moment as a soft knock graced my door. I asked to be alone, besides there was already a celebratory party so why would anyone dare to disturb me.

I felt the tingling sensation bloom again and his familiar scent. Zeus. I held unto my stomach dearly hoping the burning pain would just fade away.

The door silently opened, and the sensation intensified.

“Did I ask you to come in?" I growled as I glared at him. I didn't care that I was only in my bra and panties. All I was worried about was my pain.

“You're not well Green,” he said in a soothing voice.

“Get out!"

“Your injuries are barely healing, and you look like you're burning up,” he protested.

“I said Get out!!" I yelled.

He sauntered closer trying to hold me, but I smacked his hands off.

“I made an ointment, let me help."

“I don't need your freaking help! I'm doing just fine!" I insisted even though we both knew I was wrong. Sweats already broke across my head, and it felt like I was going to pass out soon.

“You're not! This are injuries inflicted by elemental magic. They take time to heal,” he explained with a worried expression as he inched closer. I pushed him away causing him to crash towards my door.

“With just enough blood and some rest, I'll do just fine,” I said in a faint tone as I struggled to stand. He trotted towards me in a blink of an eye, but I caught him. I gripped his neck and trotted towards the side of my door causing his back to crash against it.

“Green, drinking tons of blood is not the solution,” he whispered without struggling.

“Maybe drinking yours would be my solution." I growled, flashing my green eyes.

“If drinking my blood will help you, then fine. You can have it; you own me after all,” he answered, we stared at each other for seconds before I released him.

“Please just apply this to your wounds,” he begged as he pulled out the ointment, but I turned away from him.

“Guards!!" It took me every muscle to yell and immediately, my door flung open for two ladies.

“Lock him in the furnace prison." I ordered.

“Green. What are you doing?" He asked. I turned to him with a sinister smile.

“Dumping you back where you belong."

He frowned.

“Do you think your care, your affections or your silly love is going to win over me?" I growled while he stood dumbfounded.

“I hate you Zeus. I hate you so much that every time you touch me, every time you smile, it irritates me. You irritate me."

His lips parted and his eyes stared in nothing but pain and confusion.

“What happened to the chance you gave me?"

I scoffed.

“There was never any chance you fool. I only needed you to retrieve the gem and now you've accomplished that purpose, I have no use of you anymore."

I icily quoted. The ointment dropped from his hand in oblivion while my guards took him away. Rather than feel relief, my pain only worsened as if his presence, his touch around me was my remedy.

I wobbled to the ointment, rewarding it with a disgusted look. I made for my bed already in a mess. In fact, the entire room was already a mess.

The doors opened again.

“I need to be alone Martha,” I said but she picked the ointment before joining me by the bedside.

“You're in so much pain,” she said softly. "At least consider Zeus's efforts and just use it."

“I won't." I declared in a shaky voice.

“Green, this is not the time to be stubborn."

I turned to her endearing eyes.

“I locked him up."

“I know."

“I told him the truth."

“I know."

I frowned while my palms gradually curled into a fist.

“But instead of me to feel better. To enjoy the pain in his eyes I was full of regrets. My pain only worsened."

She gently pulled my head to her shoulder, patting my hair softly.

“Won't you say anything?" I asked after long minutes of silence.

“I'm not allowed to talk about your mate remember?" She replied and then I recalled our last conversation before the war.

“All I'll ask you to do is, use the ointment and don't be stubborn. We won this battle but there are still others left to conquer,” she mumbled. I gulped down my saliva as I closed my eyes. All I could see, was Zeus. The time we spent running by each other's side, how his hair had danced to the tunes of the wind and his Hazel eyes as beautiful as always.

“I have to go now." Her voice brought me back to reality. I frowned, in times like this, she usually stayed longer but this time was different. I raised my head, studying her expression carefully.

“You don't look good too." I commented.

“It's probably the stress from today that's all." She wriggled her head with a nervous laugh. She was lying, one so obvious.

“Where are you going to?" I asked.

“Somewhere." She turned her gaze to the floor coated with blood.

“Why won't you tell me what's wrong Martha?"

She heaved a sigh and then started walking to my doors.

“Since when did you start keeping secrets from me?" I voiced again and she stopped before the door.

“Everybody has their burden to bear Green. You handle yours and let me handle mine,” she retorted before easing through the doors.

My confusion heightened. On one hand there was my pain and on the other, was Martha. My best friend who had suddenly changed. It definitely wasn't for Zeus, was it? I could have chased after her, but I wasn't in any shape to do so. Hence, I stuck to my bed looking at the ointment my mate made.

I wasn't going to use this, I'm not weak to receive help from a man. Besides, rather than groan in pain that would pass away I had other things to think about.

The phase two of my plans. The Lycan was next and if I truly needed to get the Werewolf Hide there was only one Werewolf I could count on.
