CHAPTER 160: A GAME OF SURVIVAL

CHAPTER 160: A GAME OF SURVIVAL
Dual Pov

On reaching the middle of an untarred four-legged crossroad, surrounded by vegetation and rivers, Marco took a right turn, only to be met with the sight of Pedro's Highlander, speedily heading towards him on that same route.

He impulsively stepped on the brakes, the force at which the car came to a stop, throwing Celine forward.

“How the fuck did he get here so fast?” he muttered in frustration and anger, Celine's eyes lighting up with hope as she watched the Highlander approaching from the windshield.

Marco quickly turned the steering wheel, just about to take the other route by the left when he saw the other SUV heading towards him, forcing his car to yet another stop.

Then he hurriedly snapped his head backwards, and there came Antonio’s BMW, all of these cars rapidly closing in on him from three different angles.

“Fuck!!” he yelled out in rage, Celine’s shoulders jerking up in reflex as he slammed his palm against the wheel.

Left with the only option available, Marco quickly shifted the gear and reversed backwards a bit, zooming off towards the crossroad leading straight ahead.

Celine screamed with eyes widened in horror, gripping on tighter to the straps of her seatbelt because this route didn't lead to any connecting roads, rather, it was a narrow wooden bridge that led straight into the deep blue sea.

“What's that fucking Lunatic doing?” Antonio spat with fear in his eyes, his car jolting forwards at ridiculously high speed as he slammed his foot on the pedal.

“Your fucking Mafia husband asked for this!” Marco yelled at her, unshed tears glistening in her eyes.

Her eyes flickered towards the side-view mirror, spotting Antonio's BMW from a distance, just entering into the crossroad they were at.

She knew right then that she had to do something to save herself or she'd end up dying with the fucking son of a bitch.

Her gaze stylishly darted around the car in search of anything she could see as a weapon, while Marco kept his anxious eyes straight ahead, oblivious to her schemes.

Her anxious eyes landed on a spray gun laying on the floor of the car just beside her feet, an idea instantly creeping into her head.

She'd seen one of the guys using this in polishing a part of the SUV that had a scratch a day before the company retreat, and him leaving it behind in the car turned out to be a predetermined divine orchestration for this very moment.

“All the guys smoked, so there had to be a lighter around here somewhere,” she thought, her eyes darting around in search of it.

She spotted the lighter in-between the small space on the gear shift, then she slowly uncuffed her seatbelt and deliberately threw her body on top of Marco's lap in order to distract him as she grabbed it.

“What the fuck is your problem?!” he barked as he pulled her head up and slammed it against her side of the glass, too distracted by his driving to even notice that she'd removed her seatbelt.

She groaned softly, bending her body sideways. Then she codedly stretched her hand towards her feet and picked up the spray can, sitting upright.

“Hey, fucker,” she blurted as she whisteled at him, his hardened face snapping from the road to face her.

“What the fuck do you….” His words died on his lips as he saw the lighter and spray gun aimed at his face, his eyes widening slightly in horror.

“Go to hell you fucking son of a bitch,” she spat through gritted teeth as she hastily jumped on the passenger seat and landed on her knees, placing the flames from the lighter in front of the spray gun as she tugged the trigger.

Instantly, the flame mixed with the paint, a wild force of fire leaping out. Sharp screams of agony erupted out of Marco's throat as one side of his face began to melt off like cooking butter, his hands flying off the wheel.

Antonio’s heart rate accelerated as he watched the SUV swerving wildly from left to right, scared that something might have happened to Celine.

But inside the car Celine wore a faint smirk as the fire took out more than half of Marco's face and left eye, his attempts at fighting her off failing woefully.

She would have never thought that a regular spray can, and investing her time in watching thriller movies would someday be her saviour.

Unfortunately, her moment of victory was short-lived as the tires of their car bumped into a stone and jerked off the ground a little, causing the flames to seize as she lost her balance and the lighter fell from her hand, her body slamming against her side of the door.

“Fucking bitch!” Marco growled in disdain, throwing a slap across her face. Then he reclaimed the wheel with one hand, while the other gripped his awfully blistered skin and melted eye, excruciating pain lingering on those places.

But Celine was far from done with him.

It was a game of survival, and she was determined to win.

Her mind suddenly flickered back to the coin bomb he'd tucked into his pocket while they were in the uncompleted building, yet another idea creeping into her head.

She didn't know anything about coin bombs. Neither did she know if they had secondary triggers apart from the smart app on the portable phone. But she had to take her chances.

She hastily reached for the screwdriver inside the open glove compartment, holding it by the head.

After that, she got on top of Marco's lap, the car swinging from side to side as she blocked his view. Then with an angry growl she drove it into his right eye before he could catch her hand, rendering him blind in both eyes.

He screamed at the top of his lungs, struggling with all his might to fight her off.

She took out the screwdriver and brutally stabbed the same spot on the side of his neck where he'd been shot, more and more of his screams filling the air as his foot slammed harder on the gas pedal, his determination to take her to hell with him growing even stronger.

Her head snapped towards the windshield, adrenaline kicking in as she could see their car lingering just a few inches away from the end of the bridge.

As she turned back to face him he grabbed her by the neck, her veins bulging on her forehead as he choked her.

Instantly, her face began to turn red, oxygen evading her, but she endured it all, hurriedly reaching into his pocket for the coin bomb.

Once it was in her possession, she smartly retrieved the gun he'd hidden away in the waistband of his pants without his knowledge, tucking the coin into the right side of the same blood soaked fabric he'd tied over his neck earlier on.

Then she yanked the screwdriver out and his grip on her neck faltered, a splash of blood flying out of his neck and the sides of his mouth.

Seeing this as her chance, she tore free from his grip, unlocked the driver's door and pushed it open, jumping out of the speeding car.
