EPILOGUE
Stephen had a rush of emotions as he looked at me, smiling like a proud father and furrowing his eyebrows like a jealous boyfriend. He had just gotten back from Italy with Emilia, and they had come straight to my house, my mansion, the one I picked as Reeves, and my family house. It was the largest house I had ever lived in and owned, yes, the house was bought in my name so if Reeves tried anything funny, I could send him packing.
“I thought I gave you a strict order that didn’t want to return to see that you’re married or something,” Stephen folded his arms, his eyes were strict and direct, but he had a small smile playing on his lips.
“I’m not married or something… yet. Don’t be dramatic,” I slapped him across his arm. Emilia laughed at us. I smiled at her. Emilia was not a bad person, I was just stubborn and I didn’t want to show that I needed a female friend because the people that bashed me more than anything were women. I didn’t come out to say I wanted Emilia and me to be friends, but she got the memo… I think.
I had everything and everyone I wanted right where I wanted them; around me. It was the first time I was satisfied with something that wasn’t money. I loved the people around me, it’s sappy, too sappy for me, but it’s true.
I thought about Sarah and her wickedness, I had to give it to her though. She played her cards right. The reason she hated me more than I thought she did was because of an argument she had with her husband about her infidelity, and Austin Callaway told her that he was going to divorce her and come after me again. She didn’t want to see the man happy, so she had me break the man’s heart as I lied in court for her, then she sent me far away from him, so ending up with him won’t be an option. I was flattered when Stephen had narrated the story to me over the phone before my return from Nigeria. Though I felt sorry for her, I couldn’t shake the fact that she had me deported; I planned to get back at her somehow, I didn’t know how, but I was going to do it.
And I am happy, excited even that I stayed true to myself and got the man I rightfully deserved, and the likes of Daisy have nothing on me. This is my story, my story on how I worked hard for what I thought I deserved and I got it; because no matter how much people shit on you and say you aren’t worth something, the only person who can prove them right is you.
So, stay sharp and stay wicked to men. Take all their money as they made it for you, and not all of them deserve your kindness.
With love,
Melanie Azurfa Giovanni.
