Chapter 23 continuation
'I am listening to you carefully.'
'Someone seriously broke off relations with us,' Jake hinted, not knowing what to say next.
'If you're talking about your girlfriend, then I don't care,' James laughed.
'Stop it, I'm serious. Anyway, Mr. Foster came to visit us last night. His visit was not positive, in other ways, as always. His last drop ran out, the glass burst. Your father has declared war on us. It's scary because he can take everything we have and then turn it against us. I know you're going to object now, but he has a lot more power in his hands than you, James.'
'I will not run from him like a dog that has its tail between its legs. I don't care how much power he has. I'll prove to him, Jake, that I'm not an empty place,' Jay jumped up in a fit of rage, coming closer to the two guys, looking at them with almost black eyes from top to bottom.
'He's already taken a few people from you. I'm really scared now, James.'
'Don't be a coward! I will take revenge on him!' Foster slammed his fist on the armrest of the sofa, applying all his strength to this blow. 'Don't you dare leave me and go under his wing, Jake.'
'I'm not sure about that anymore, sorry.'

Near a huge building in the heart of London, cars were parked, indicating that there were a lot of people in the room now. Two armed guards were stationed near the huge gate, in charge of those who enter the territory, and two more near the doors that lead into the building.
James freely walked past the guards, entering the room. Everyone here knew him, or rather, the whole city knew who James and Williams Foster were, because they were the power.
'Mr. Foster, we need to search you,' a burly man in a black suit warned the guy at the entrance to the building itself.
James raised his hands, palms twirling in different directions, as if in defiance, showing that he was completely indifferent to this.
The guard came closer to the guy, running a metal detector all over his body in search of weapons.
At the level of jeans, the device in the hands of the man began to make loud sounds due to the fact that the source identified it. The guard jerked up his black T-shirt, revealing the gun.
'Mr. Foster, you should give me this. You can't be here with any type of weapon or anything.'
The young man pulled a pistol from his jeans, throwing it loudly on the floor.
'I hope I can go now?' Without hearing any answer in his direction, the guy entered the elevator, without hesitation pressing on the 20th floor.
The elevator doors opened on the 2nd floor, revealing a view of a spacious working office. Two women and one young man who looked too frail stood in front of the blond with confusion in his eyes.
'Hello, Mr Foster!' Workers said quickly. 'Come on, we'll wait.'
Jay raised his finger to press the button on the 20th floor again, as he noticed that the doors from the office swung open and a girl ran out from there, holding a stack of documents in her hands.
'Hey boy, wait!' The blonde yelled loudly, drawing all the attention to herself.
'Stevenson, stop, you'll wait for the next elevator.'
'Why should I wait if I can leave right now?' The young lady snorted, running into the elevator before the doors closed. 'I need to go to the 20th floor.'
The blond man pressed the appropriate button, grinning all over his face. His gaze swept the girl from head to toe, noticing open slender legs in heels, a tight skirt that hugged a thin waist and a lush ass, a white short-sleeved blouse that was not fully buttoned, exposing her beautiful collarbones and also a magnificent bust.
'Are you new here? I haven't seen you this week yet,' her blond hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, revealing her long neck.
'You're probably the new one here,' Foster smiled, emphasizing the word 'you' with his intonation.
'My name is Melanie and yes you are right. I've only been here a week and Mr. Foster has already loaded me from head to toe. He can be so mean and demanding sometimes,' the blonde held out her hand in greeting.
'James Foster,' the boy's grin broke out again as he said his last name.
The young man shook hands gently, noticing the complete embarrassment on the girl's face.
'I'm sorry, that's not what I meant. Anyway, please don't tell your dad about this, or he'll fire me in an instant.'
The young man noticed in Melanie's speech how she speaks very quickly and energetically. He liked this trait in a stranger, because it seemed that she could cheer up even on the worst days, like this one, for example.
'Maybe I won't tell.' James yanked the girl's arm toward him, quickly wrapping his arms around her waist to keep her from falling. 'But only if you come to the party with me tonight.'
Melanie was extremely close to the guy's body, feeling two hands on her waist, which subtly dropped lower.
'I'm not sure exactly,' Melanie said quietly, holding on to the broad man's shoulders.
Foster leaned down to the girl's ear, making his voice much lower and more hoarse, because many girls just go crazy about how sexy it sounds: 'So are you coming with me?'
Goosebumps from hot breath and such an intimate atmosphere went on the skin.
'Yes, I think so. Will you take me? I'll write you the address on the phone.'
'Just great.'
The elevator smoothly stopped and the doors parted on the sides, revealing a view of the spacious room. James let go of the girl, stepping out of the elevator and following right behind her. They walked over to the secretary's desk, greeting a young black-haired girl who was looking at the many papers on her desk.
'Mr. Foster, you have visitors. Should I let them in?' The young lady said on the phone, waiting for an answer. 'Okay, Mr Foster.'
The secretary placed her work phone on the counter, looking up, then nodded her head approvingly.
The blond came close to the door that led into the executive's office itself, standing on the side so that his father could not notice him, but in any case it would have been to no avail since the security and employees of this office had long ago announced the arrival of a 'loving' son to Mr. Foster's building.
Being on the right side of the door, the young man opened it, inviting the young lady inside.
'Come in, Miss Melanie,' the guy made a slight maneuver with his hands, pointing to the door.
The girl smiled sweetly and went into Mr. Foster's private office, leaving James at the door.
'You can sit down,' the secretary said affectionately, trying to get the attention of the young guy. 'maybe tea or coffee?'
'No need,' James answered distantly, sitting down on a strict and at the same time stylish sofa that fully matched the interior of the office.
The young lady frowned, lowering her gaze back to the computer, because Foster's son turned out to be completely uncommunicative.
The guy sat on the couch with his brows furrowed while his eyes were riveted on the black boots on his feet at the time. In his head, he went through numerous options for thinking about what he would say to his father as soon as he entered his office, how he would behave and with what intonation he would speak.
He certainly didn't want to see his father and right now he would do everything he could to just get up and leave, but he couldn't. I imagined various scenes in my father's study, and none of them were really good ones.
The guy practically did not take his teeth off his lower lip, trying, as much as possible, to inflict pain on himself, which was simply necessary for him at that moment. His hands lay just above his knees, actively and at the same time nervously, playing with his fingers, which showed the first sign of anxiety in a person.
James kept his eyes on the clock, counting every minute. And the time was getting closer and closer to the given time, after which the girl was supposed to leave. He began to nervously tap his hands on his knees in anticipation, while completely ignoring the secretary's fleeting glances at him.
The door swung open, revealing a view of Melanie Stevenson, who was leaving the office without a stack of documents in her hands. The secretary looked up at the slam of the door and the sound of heels, noticing the girl, after which her gaze quickly moved to the guy.
'You can come in,' the brunette said to James.
'He's not in the mood today, be careful,' Melanie warned, speaking her thoughts into the blond's ear.
'Are you worried about me, baby?' The boy smirked, hiding his worry far behind his back. 'Will you give me your number so I can call you today?'
'Write it down.'
The blond man took out his smartphone, creating a new contact, carefully clicking on each number dictated by the girl.
'I'll pick you up. See you later.' James winked as he walked towards the door.
Having prayed to himself, although the guy did not believe in God at all, the young man went into the office, immediately noticing in his circle of observation a respectable man sitting at a table in a leather chair.
Their eyes met, and for a minute a tense silence formed in the room, which pressed too hard on the ears and made the pulse quicken many times over.
The man hasn't changed at all. His heavy gaze continued to look at the guy standing near the closed door in the aisle.
A solid black suit fitted his broad shoulders perfectly, and a black tie rested neatly on a strong chest. His brows drew together for a second, frowning.
'Why did you come to me, James?' Rough bass echoed off the white walls. 'I don't even want to give you my last name, you are not worthy to wear a part of me.'
'I came to talk to you.'
The man rose from his seat, leaning his hands on the dark-colored wooden table: 'Talk to me? We do not have anything to talk about! How many times have I come to you to talk to you? You refused, so I have no desire and time to listen to your snot.'
'Have a chat?' As loudly said, Mr. Foster, the man's son replied with venom in his voice.
'Get out of here! I think you've already been warned about my plans. I don't want to know you, just like the fact that you have my last name, which you don't deserve!'
The guy clenched his hands into fists, trying to calm his anger so as not to break loose at the person in front of him. The veins in his neck bulged from the strain.
