Chapter 78: Benjamin Holding Mia
Leaving the hospital, Mia first accompanied Benjamin to a nearby mall to buy clothes.
Walking into the mall, she caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror and realized she was still wearing pajamas under her down jacket.
What a look - totally mismatched.
The store Benjamin chose happened to have women's clothing too. Her mind elsewhere, she randomly picked out an outfit and changed into it.
After buying clothes, as they were heading out.
Having skipped breakfast that morning, her stomach let out a protesting growl.
After all, the two weren't that close. Just as Mia was feeling embarrassed, Benjamin acted as if he hadn't heard anything and considerately said, "The hospital breakfast was terrible, I didn't eat. Keep me company upstairs for breakfast?"
So the two went for breakfast.
Only then did they officially set off.
......
She wasn't in great shape, so Benjamin drove while Mia sat in the passenger seat.
She really wasn't in the mood, but she still tried her best to go along with it.
Since she'd agreed, she had to follow through.
She didn't want to be like James - going back on his word, only knowing how to lie.
Why was she thinking about him again?
Thinking about how James had deceived her, Mia's heart couldn't help but clench into a tight ball.
Her hands resting on her lap unconsciously tightened.
Her nails dug into her thigh without her even realizing it.
"We're here."
Benjamin's gentle voice cut through layers of fog, bringing Mia back.
She looked up, her misty eyes glancing at their destination.
An amusement park?
Mia was so shocked she forgot to be sad. She looked at Benjamin with disbelief written all over her face - are you sure?
"Don't like it?"
Benjamin asked with a smile.
Mia immediately shook her head.
How could she not like it?
She loved amusement parks most of all, but she'd never been to one.
Her dad had once promised to take her, but before he could make good on it, he died.
Later, after getting together with James.
Once, sitting in his car, they passed by an amusement park.
She couldn't help looking at it a few extra times.
He asked her, want to go?
When he asked, he was clearly frowning.
She knew he was a germaphobe, so she immediately shook her head and denied it - don't like it, hate amusement parks.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go."
Benjamin got out of the car smoothly and opened her door for her.
"Okay."
Mia nodded.
She got out and walked inside with him.
This was Imperial City's largest amusement park. Although it wasn't the weekend, there was still quite a crowd.
Benjamin stayed half a step behind Mia, protecting her side.
Jasper had been waiting at the entrance since early morning. As soon as he saw Benjamin, he hurried over, "Mr. White, the tickets you wanted and VIP passes for all the rides suitable for pregnant women..."
While talking, he kept stealing glances at Mia.
Matching outfits!
Pregnant!
That's a lot of information!
Benjamin was really something!
"Get lost!"
Benjamin shot him a cold look!
So much unnecessary talk!
Jasper quickly ran off!
"Thank you!"
At this moment, what didn't Mia understand!
So from the very beginning, he wasn't "forcing" her to keep him company when she was in a bad mood.
Rather, he saw she was upset and, under the guise of having her repay a favor, wanted to cheer her up.
He must have heard the doctor say that her stomach discomfort was due to emotional ups and downs, and that she needed to stay happy.
That's why he did all this.
He was caring for her.
In his own way.
In a way that made her very comfortable.
She looked at Benjamin gratefully.
Looking at his gentle smile.
A warm current slowly rose in her heart.
That heart, which had been cold to the bone since seeing Amelia in James's passenger seat, finally felt a bit of warmth.
But at the same instant, Mia suddenly felt a wave of sadness.
Benjamin and she weren't even friends, yet he knew to care for her.
But James, the man she loved deeply, her husband - he was always with other women when she needed him.
Did he care about her at all?
Just as she was feeling sad, a very cute bunny headband suddenly appeared before her eyes.
She heard Benjamin's voice above her head, "For you."
Mia's eyes lit up when she saw it clearly.
"Thank you." Mia reached out to take it, looking up to thank him, but the moment she saw the fox headband on Benjamin's head, she laughed.
"How is it?"
Benjamin made a fox expression.
The red fox headband made his already beautiful features even more stunning.
Drawing the attention of many passing young girls.
Yet he was focused only on cheering her up.
His efforts.
She shouldn't let them go to waste.
"Very nice."
Mia laughed softly, temporarily pushing down her sadness.
Since Benjamin could let go of his image, she stopped worrying too, put on the bunny headband, and made a bunny expression.
Seeing this, Benjamin gave her a thumbs up.
Mia returned a faint smile.
"Let me take you to something fun."
"What are we playing?"
"You'll know when we get there."
"Being so mysterious?"
"You'll know when we arrive."
"Well, I'm really looking forward to it then."
The two chatted and laughed as they walked inside.
......
Not long after they went in, a black Bentley came speeding from the distance.
Inside the car, James's lips were pressed thin, his face cold, his eyes fixed on the location getting closer on his phone.
This was the tracker he'd installed on her phone last time when he couldn't find Mia.
Until the location showed just feet away, James hit the brakes, his eyes looking over.
He immediately spotted the car Mia had driven today.
Finally found her.
James, whose emotions had been tense the whole time, visibly relaxed.
Worried the entire way, he immediately pushed open the car door before it had fully stopped and rushed out in big strides.
"Mia!"
In his urgency, James took large steps, reaching the car in just a few strides.
No one in the car.
James withdrew his gaze from the car and turned toward the back, looking at the amusement park entrance.
Why would Mia come here?
Didn't she hate amusement parks?
Standing there, he hesitated for only a few seconds before striding inside.
The line was very long. James walked to the front, pulled out all the cash from his wallet, bought the tickets from someone's hands, and walked in after verification.
Without the phone's location, finding Mia in the amusement park was like finding a needle in a haystack.
James didn't stop, searching through one attraction after another.
After walking for over an hour, ahead was a shooting booth.
It was especially crowded, surrounded by three layers of people.
James passed by, his eyes scanning.
Mia didn't know how to shoot, she probably wouldn't play this.
James confidently quickened his pace and continued forward.
Just as he was about to pass the shooting area, a very familiar voice cut through all the other voices and reached his ears, "Benjamin, that's not fair, leave some for me!"
It was Mia!
And she was calling out to Benjamin?
At this moment, all the surrounding sounds disappeared from James's ears, leaving only Mia's laughing words replaying in his mind.
His face was cold as frost, his eyes without a trace of warmth.
His gaze fell on where Mia's voice had come from.
The people around, sensing the cold aura from James, seemed afraid of being frozen and automatically moved aside, making way for him.
This also let him clearly see, in front of the shooting booth.
Benjamin stood behind Mia, intimately holding her in his arms, the two whispering to each other, extremely close.
This scene pierced James's bone-cold eyes, stirring up a tsunami that was about to erupt in the next second, ready to sweep in and devour the people before him, making them bear his towering rage.
How dare she?
