Chapter 343: James Died 2

Chapter 343: James Died 2

Mia---As the explosion went off, something detonated in her mind.

The firelight burned through the darknessand cast a brutal, unforgiving glow on her face.

She stared blankly at the massive waves, each over ten feet high, that had been churned up by the explosion.

After the loud boom, the waves came crashed down.

Her heart was yanked forcefully downward.

The pain suffocated her.

Pax saw Mia and clung to her. His small hands clutched her clothes as he cried out in grief.

"Mommy, Daddy fell down in the car..."

The car fell into the sea, the explosion just now - that was James.

Mia dropped to one knee, clutching the sobbing Pax, her eyes locked on the empty space where the car had been.

"James..." Her lips moved, murmuring his name and her eyes quickly turned bloodshot, her heart instantly shattered, her eyes full of disbelief.

It couldn't be, James wouldn't just leave her and Pax like this.

He wouldn't.

Mia shook her head slightly, she looked at the two people who had gotten out of the car with her---Dennis's guards.

"Take care of Pax."

She handed Pax over to the guards first.

In a few quick steps, she rushed toward the cliff edge.

Half kneeling at the cliff's edge, she looked at the dark waves that seemed ready to swallow her. "James!"

There was no response except the sound of the crashing waves.

"Mommy!"

Panic, Pax lunged for her, hands outstretched. But the guard held him tightly.

The two people responsible for intercepting and rescuing Mia halfway had saved her.

They learned that the person in the warehouse wasn't Pax.

Mia immediately had them take her back to the company to get her phone and check the tracking device on the young master.

Unable to wait for the others to come from the warehouse, worried about Pax, they rushed over with Mia first.

Pax recognized Dennis's people. "Quick, find Daddy, find Daddy to save my dad."

The two fell silent when the news of Dennis's death came. None of them believed it.

But until today, there was still no word from Dennis.

Chances were, things were looking bad, but they couldn't tell Pax that.

"Yes!" Unable to bear hurting Pax's heart further, the two immediately agreed.

They had already contacted the people at the warehouse, telling them to rush over immediately.

Mia forced back her tears, wiped her eyes, then slowly stood and returned to Pax.

Just now, she had scared Pax.

Pax threw himself at her legs, holding on tightly.

"Mommy, Daddy will be here soon. He's really good, he'll definitely find Dad, Dad will be okay, right?"

Pax's eyes were already red and swollen from crying.

As he spoke, tears kept falling.

"Yes!"

Mia held Pax.

James would definitely be okay.

He wouldn't bear to leave their mother and son. Absolutely not!

Raising her hand to wipe away the tears flooding her eyes again, Mia stood up, handed Pax to the two guards, and took out her phone.

She called the police.

Then she started contacting James's friends.

Having them send people over to help search together.

No matter what.

She needed to see him alive.

Or dead—she needed to see his body.

Otherwise, she wouldn't believe it!

Mia had just hung up when a bright light shone from not far away.

An SUV with its headlights on came speeding toward them.

Very fast.

Clearly up to no good.

The guards’ expressions changed. One quickly climbed through Mia’s car window to use it as a barrier.

The other guard stood in front of Mia and Pax, ready to move in the opposite direction.

"How long until your people arrive?"

"Five minutes."

The guard answered quickly.

Seeing Mia's calmness, he calmed down too.

"Protect Pax."

Mia pushed Pax toward the guard and stepped forward, blocking them.

Though the bright light made it hard to see clearly, she knew that whoever was coming at this time could only be Uri.

"Ms. Wilson!"

The guard watched as Mia not only didn't retreat but actually stepped forward to meet them.

It scared them to death.

What shocked them was that just as the car was about to hit Mia, the SUV slammed on its brakes.

The two cars following behind also stopped.

Over ten people got out and stood by the cars.

One person stepped forward and opened the car door.

A man bent down and got out.

Who else but Uri.

"Mia, long time no see. Did you miss me?"

"I've been thinking about you every single day."

Uri stood by the car, looking at Mia's face so close to him.

Finally, he could stand face to face with Mia, no longer spending his days with cold photographs.

"You really disgust me."

After learning that the hospital fire was orchestrated by Uri.

She began to doubt Uri's character.

Was the Uri who once protected her really what she’d seen?

She had James investigate what happened back then.

Though many years had passed and investigating the circumstances wasn't easy.

But when she mentioned those people who had tried to assault her.

Because the impression was so deep, even after all these years, she could still recall their faces.

She didn't know Uri's circle, but James did.

When she mentioned a few of them, James immediately found photos from gatherings in that circle, then showed them to her.

She recognized at a glance that those who had tried to assault her were all either arm-in-arm with Uri or whispering to him - clearly close friends.

Now the Smith Family was under James's control.

With one word from him, he easily found people from back then and learned the whole story.

It turned out that the so-called heroic rescue was initially his complicity, his cold observation.

She had just been lucky.

Maybe because she struggled too hard, Uri gave her an extra look and found her interesting.

Or maybe that day he was in a good mood, so he stepped out from the shadows and stopped that assault.

After that, his feelings might have been real.

As he said, he liked her smile, felt relaxed around her.

But it didn’t change the person’s true nature.

From the beginning, he was rotten to the core.

A complete bastard!

"You'll like it."

Uri's eyes grew colder, but his tone remained as gentle as ever.

"James is already dead..."

"My dad is not dead!"

Pax yelled at Uri, his eyes red. He didn't know Uri. But heard he said James was dead, Pax immediately glared at him fiercely.

If the guard hadn’t restrained him, Pax would have attacked Uri without hesitation!

Uri's gaze swept toward Pax, his eyes sinister, wishing he could just walk over and throw him directly into the sea.

Orla, that useless woman.

He told her to deal with both father and son, but she only dealt with James. This eyesore Pax was still alive.

Mia caught Uri’s gaze and shifted to block it.

Not letting his vicious, filthy gaze reach Pax.

He didn't deserve it!

"James won't die."

Mia's tone was firm.

"My dad won't die!"

Though his view was blocked, Pax didn't forget to firmly support his mom.

Just as convinced as Mia.

Dad just won't die!

"Mia, stop fooling yourself. The car's destroyed, he's probably been blown to pieces!"

"Uri, shut up!"

“I said James won’t die—he just won’t!” Mia cut him off coldly.

Uri didn't want to keep arguing with Mia.

Wasting words on something that was already a done deal.

"Mia, in ten minutes, news of the Smith Group CEO's death at sea will hit the trending topics. The perpetrator died in a car accident while fleeing."

His people had already arranged it.

Orla would die on the way to find Fox.

For a pawn with no use left, someone who knew his deepest secrets.

Only the dead keep secrets forever.

Everything would become impossible to prove with her death!

"With James dead, everything he stole will return to its rightful owner."

"Including the Smith Group, and including you."

The Smith Group belonged to him all along.

It was James who used a car accident to steal his Smith Group.

Left him in a vegetative state for four years.

And took his love, stole Mia who should have been his.

Today, he finally killed James, that thorn in his side, and took back everything that belonged to him.

"Mia, you're a smart person. With James dead, you have no one to rely on now."

"If you obediently stay by my side, I won't hold your past with James against you."

"As for this little bastard you had with him, since he's lucky enough to survive, I can promise you I won't go after him again."

"I'll spare his life. Though I can't love him for your sake, giving him something to eat is still possible."

Uri's tone made raising Pax sound like casually keeping a dog.

The guard protecting Pax was so provoked by Uri’s words that his eyes burned with rage.

They were all willing to fight to the death for Dennis and Pax.

They couldn't tolerate anyone trampling on Pax like this in front of them.

If they didn't need to protect Pax and Mia's safety, they would have rushed over to fight Uri to the death.

Compared to their openly displayed anger, Mia was much calmer.

She stood quietly, listening to Uri insult Pax.

As if she had already accepted reality.

Uri was very satisfied. Leaning against the car, he beckoned to Mia. "Mia, come here."

In his view, Mia had no choice.

With James dead and no one to depend on, Mia was nothing.

Mia seemed to be making a final struggle.

Uri had always been patient with Mia.

He didn't rush her, giving her time for her death throes.

That was until he saw her take a careful step toward him.

One step, another step.

Getting closer and closer.

Uri’s smile widened, growing ever deeper.

He could finally have Mia, make her willingly stay by his side.

Mia's steps were very slow, until she stood in front of Uri.

Uri reached to embrace her—Mia’s hand moved faster.

Two sharp slaps in quick succession—Mia used all her strength to strike his face.
