Chapter 333: Unable to Resist the Impulse

Chapter 333: Unable to Resist the Impulse

In the darkness, James clearly saw Mia's eyelashes flutter slightly.

She wasn't asleep, but she didn't respond to him.

Silence was a wordless rejection.

She hadn't made up her mind yet.

Or maybe she hadn't even thought about this question before.

Seeing she didn't want to continue this topic, James didn't push it.

He looked at her tenderly and said affectionately, "Goodnight, honey."

Mia couldn't help herself, "Who's your...!"

"Shh, don't wake Pax. Go to sleep."

James reached out and pressed his index finger against her lips, cutting her off.

Mia was speechless.

Bad man!

Mia opened her eyes and glared at James furiously.

After all, they'd been intimate husband and wife for four years, lying in bed together countless times making love.

Now, meeting James's deep, bottomless gaze.

His scent filled her breath, his fingertip gently rubbing the corner of her lips, his eyes growing hotter as he looked at her. Mia's heart was getting out of control.

Mia suddenly opened her mouth and bit his finger, not too hard, not too soft.

A suggestive moan escaped from his throat.

Not loud, but especially seductive in the night.

Mia was completely speechless.

She closed her eyes, refusing to let him affect her.

She'd thought that sharing a bed with James again, she'd have trouble falling asleep from being on guard against him making moves.

But unexpectedly.

Maybe it was because she was too tired today, but shortly after closing her eyes, she fell peacefully asleep.

A good night's sleep, deep and sound, waking naturally.

The moment she opened her eyes, Mia realized something was wrong.

When she fell asleep last night, Pax was clearly between her and James, but now she was lying in his arms, just like every time they used to wake up embracing each other.

"Honey, don't move. Pax isn't awake yet, don't wake him."

Just as she was about to pull away, she heard James's husky voice from above, reminding her in a low tone.

Only then did Mia notice Pax.

Pax was sleeping on his stomach on James's body, his little face against his chest, one small hand clutching her collar, the other hugging James, sleeping soundly.

The moment her gaze touched Pax's face, the anger in Mia's eyes instantly disappeared, replaced by tenderness.

She looked at Pax.

James looked at her.

His gaze was equally tender.

This moment was so beautiful that James wished time would just stop.

The more he looked the hotter and more intense his gaze grew.
His presence grew stronger and stronger, so strong that even though Mia tried hard to ignore it, she couldn't.

"Stop looking!"

This was too much!

James was aware of his own charm, but he did not restrain himself, he let it flow freely.

When Mia looked up, she met James's burning gaze head-on.

"You're in my arms, I can't help it."

JJames spoke a little aggrieved, not without deliberately playing weak but it was the truth.
With the woman he loved in his arms, he simply couldn't help it!

He lifted Pax onto him first, gently, after Mia fell asleep last night.

After adjusting Pax into a comfortable sleeping position, he turned to look at Mia beside him.

He was thinking about how to hold Mia in his arms without waking her when he noticed that she was already moving toward him on her own.
Muscle memory formed over a thousand days and nights—when they didn't sleep together, it didn't matter, but sleeping together, catching that familiar, reassuring scent, in the most relaxed moment of sleep, her body instinctively moved closer.

Until she settled into his arms and found the most comfortable sleeping position, Mia finally quieted down.

That night, James happily held Pax and embraced Mia, too excited to sleep.

It wasn't until late at night that he couldn't fight it anymore and reluctantly closed his eyes, falling asleep with them.

He lay there all that night, not daring to move for fear of waking them.
In the early morning, he woke early, and by the light filtering through the curtains, he watched the two in his arms, waiting for them to wake.

James originally had no improper thoughts.

But once awake, Mia's scent filled his breath.

Like the strongest aphrodisiac, making him unable to control his impulses.

"Move your leg!"

Mia's ear grew hot.

She hadn't noticed before.

Not until James moved slightly did she realize where her leg was.

Before, she used to like slipping her leg between his, sleeping intertwined like vines.

Now, feeling what he meant by "can't help it."

Moving her leg might wake Pax, but not moving it—that burning heat, even through two thin layers of fabric, felt like it would scorch her skin!

Making her whole body heat up.

Even more enticing.

"Mia..."

James's voice grew husky.

Unable to control his feelings.

Looking at Mia, his breath growing hotter and hotter, spraying on her face.

Their gazes intertwined.

Mia wanted to look away, but his eyes seemed to have magic, hooking her in, unable to escape.

Watching James lower his head toward her, getting closer and closer.

The moment before the kiss, Mia ultimately didn't avoid it, following her heart's desire, closing her eyes.

But the familiar burning breath didn't land on her lips.

Mia clearly froze.

Quickly opened her eyes.

She found a small hand between them.

It was Pax, now awake.

His little hand pressed against James's face, forcibly pushing his finally-lowered head back to its original position.

"Don't bite Mommy!"

Pax rolled out of James's arms and squeezed between him and Mia.

Blocking Mia, looking at James with a guarded expression.

Mia couldn't help but laugh seeing James thwarted.

She was trying hard to hold it in.

Serves him right for getting aroused, getting "disciplined" by Pax again!

"Baby, time to get up."

Mia picked up Pax.

James looked completely helpless.

Now wasn't the right time.

When Pax truly accepted him, and Mia was willing to give him another chance.

When their family of three could truly live together.

He needed to have a good talk with Pax.

He needed to let Pax know that he wasn't bullying his mommy just now—that was a kiss, an expression of love.

He felt that kissing didn't need to be hidden from the child.

Let the child know that when mommy and daddy love each other, kissing is a natural thing.

He needed to learn to get used to it.

For now, without any say in the matter, he could only accept his fate, throw off the covers, and get up with them.

Standing at the sink, he squeezed toothpaste for them and filled their cups with water.

At the spacious sink, the family of three brushed their teeth and washed up together.

After washing up, James went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for mother and son.

Celestia heard from Bruce about James preparing a gift for Pax, and she video-called them.

Speaking sweetly, saying she wanted to talk to Pax.

Mia gave the phone to Pax.

When Pax heard Celestia ask about the gift, he got a little excited, wanting to share his happiness with her.

"Go ahead."

Patting Pax's head, happy about each bit of his progress.

Pax took the phone to the play area.

Mia was about to follow when James called out, "Mia, get me three eggs from the fridge."

"Okay."

Mia responded.

She got the eggs and entered the kitchen.

Seeing James reach out, she didn't think much and handed them over directly.

Unexpectedly, he didn't take the eggs but grabbed her wrist instead, pulling her gently into his arms and against the counter.

"James, what do you think you're doing?"

After saying this, she realized this dialogue wasn't right.

"Say it and see what happens!"

Mia struck first! Warning him!

Afraid he'd respond inappropriately with: "You."

"Okay, I won't say it."

He went straight to action!

As his words fell, overwhelming kisses rained down.

Between tangled lips and teeth, James bit her lip, saying "viciously," "That's for laughing!"

He was talking about being disciplined by Pax in bed this morning!

Mia was speechless.

This man!

Typical of him to use any excuse!

Actually, she didn't mind kissing James. He was skilled, knowing exactly what she liked.

Kissing him or doing more intimate things was always comfortable and enjoyable.

But Pax was right there in the living room play area.

She worried about Pax catching them again—that would be so awkward.

As James kept chasing her lips endlessly, she bit his lower lip lightly as a warning while panting, "That's enough!"

Don't push your luck!

James stopped following her lead, their foreheads touching. While catching his breath, his tongue swept across the corner of her lips, still wanting more!

Mia pushed him away!

How could she calm down like this?

She left the kitchen, stood at the sink, and splashed cold water on her face for a while before the heat finally subsided, then went to the play area to find Pax.

...

On Saturday, Mia took Pax to Helena's house.

Sunday was Lily's wedding.

"Mia, Pax."

Lily smiled and came forward, taking Mia's hand and patting Pax's head.

This was the house Lily had bought for Helena and Atlas.

Fully furnished, three bedrooms and one living room, move-in ready.

When she bought this place, although she'd agreed to Bruce's proposal, they hadn't gotten their marriage certificate yet.

Bruce wanted to use his card, but Lily refused and used her own.

Bruce understood in his heart that Lily didn't want to owe him too much.

Looking at stubborn Lily, he sometimes really wanted to tell her that her drawing such clear lines really hurt him.

But in the end, he said nothing and went along with her.

"Pax is here."

Celestia, who was playing with balloons in the living room, heard that Pax had arrived and exchanged a mischievous glance with Atlas.

She'd just agreed with Atlas that when Pax came, she had scare him with a balloon.

Pax was always so cool—she wanted to see if he would get startled.

Celestia nimbly jumped up from the floor mat and grabbed the biggest balloon. "Atlas, Pax is here, I'm going to scare him now."

She thought she was whispering, but her voice wasn't quiet at all. Pax, who had just entered, had already heard everything.

Only Celestia herself thought she was being sneaky.

Holding the balloon, she ran happily toward the door, sweetly calling out to Mia, "Mia."

After greeting her, she turned to Pax and held out the balloon, "Pax, for you."

Pax wasn't afraid of the balloon popping. Since she wanted to play, he would cooperate and reached out his hand.

Just as his hand touched the balloon, he heard Celestia whisper a reminder, "Brother Pax, be careful, I'm going to pop the balloon."

Pax was speechless.

How could she be so silly—silly in a kind of cute way.

After the warning, Celestia used the sharp point of a triangular piece in her hand to try to pop it.

But before she could, Celestia ran backward.

Pax looked at the perfectly intact balloon in his hand, speechless.

After running a few steps, Celestia turned around to find the balloon still hadn't popped.

Covering her ears with both hands, she looked a bit embarrassed.

Just as she was about to come forward and try again, the balloon suddenly burst.

Pax shouted. With her ears covered, Celestia didn't hear much noise, but seeing that Pax was actually startled, she happily turned to Atlas to gloat, "Atlas, Pax got scared."

Atlas was amused but still played along with Celestia, praising, "Celestia is amazing!"

Celestia smiled proudly.

Shaking her head happily, pleased with herself for successfully scaring Pax.

Both Lily and Mia couldn't help laughing out loud.

That evening, Lily and Mia slept together.

Pax and Celestia slept beside them. The children fell asleep early, but the two women chatted until late into the night.

Mia felt at ease about Lily marrying Bruce.

She had seen with her own eyes how good Bruce was to Lily, but she still couldn't help feeling sorry for her.

She knew too well who was in Lily's heart.

And in the end, she was marrying someone she didn't love. Mia didn't know if Lily's choice was right or wrong.

But when it came to matters of the heart, even as Lily's best friend, she couldn't make the choice for her.

On the wedding day.

Colt and Sloane said they wouldn't be too high-profile, but Bruce's wedding—how could it possibly be low-key?

The wedding was organized entirely by Sloane. As the bride-to-be, Lily had spent these two years in Aetheria only doing design work and hadn't met many people.

Facing everyone suddenly, she felt a bit insecure.

Fortunately, Bruce stood by her side the whole time, holding her hand tightly, being her strongest support.

Because of her background, some unpleasant comments inevitably reached her ears.

Lily acted as if she hadn't heard them.

In others' eyes, she had indeed married up with Bruce.

Initially, she'd refused because of Bruce's background, only because she feared Celestia would be treated poorly.

But Colt and Sloane's love for Celestia left her without any worries.

This was her choice, and no matter what others said, she wouldn't take it to heart.

Time would tell.

She would prove through her actions to those who doubted her that she would be a good wife to Bruce.

The wedding was about to start. Lily had a perfect smile on her lips and was about to enter the venue when suddenly a familiar figure appeared, and her smile froze.

It was Benjamin.

He was at the prime age for a man.

In a suit, with a commanding presence, he walked in from outside.

Many important people from Imperial City had attended today. Benjamin didn't go directly into the venue but came straight toward Lily and the others.

No one else noticed, but Lily and Bruce spotted him immediately.

Lily hadn't expected Benjamin to come over.

Standing beside Bruce, her body involuntarily tensed.

Her hand holding Bruce's arm unconsciously tightened.

Bruce's gaze fell on Benjamin.

After getting the marriage certificate with Lily, his heart had still been uneasy.

But when Lily still firmly chose him even after Benjamin appeared, he knew that Lily truly wanted to make things work with him.

With the confidence Lily gave him, plus the fact that Lily was now his wife in name and reality.

Facing Benjamin, Bruce was full of confidence.

Even if his place in Lily's heart currently couldn't compare to Benjamin's, so what?

Lily had already chosen him and was trying hard—how could he show weakness?

He gently held Lily's hand with one hand and put his other arm around her waist, taking her with him as he walked toward Benjamin.

"Mr. White, welcome to my and Lily's wedding. We would both be very happy to have your blessing."

Bruce had a smile on his lips.

He was saying polite words.

Benjamin's gaze only lingered on Bruce's face for a second before turning to Lily.

His eyes seemed to have penetrating power, staring at Lily.

He'd come today not to give his blessing.

"Lily, come with me!"
