Chapter 209: Uri is Back
She was wearing a red dress again today. When she saw him, she walked over with a bright smile on her face.
James followed closely behind her like a devoted guardian.
Mia watched coldly.
She sat still, ready for whatever was coming.
But she didn't expect that girl named Lavinia to walk over and hug Louis directly.
She called out affectionately, "Bro."
Bro?
"Lavinia is Louis's sister."
James took the opportunity to explain and sat down next to Mia.
Mia glanced at James coldly from the corner of her eye.
So what?
She's Louis's sister, not his.
Louis pulled Lavinia's arms off from around his neck. "Sit properly."
"Don't bring those foreign habits back here. Keep your distance between men and women, understand?"
Though his tone was scolding, it was full of affection.
You could tell Louis really doted on Lavinia.
"I forgot again."
Lavinia lightly tapped her own forehead.
As she spoke, she had already sat down next to Louis.
After they sat down, Louis had the waiter bring the food.
Lavinia's beautiful big eyes fell on Mia. "Mia, are you still mad at James?"
Her words didn't carry any hint of teasing. She was straightforward and generous, full of goodwill.
Mia hadn't liked Lavinia before, but now she felt a bit bad about disliking her.
She didn't say anything.
This was between her and James.
Seeing Mia's silence, Lavinia was clearly anxious and said awkwardly.
"Actually, that day wasn't James's fault. I had just come back to the country, and Louis threw me a welcome party and invited James."
"I've been abroad too long. We hadn't seen each other in so long. I didn't think much of it. When I saw James, I got excited and hugged him."
"Mia, there's really nothing between James and me. He really only sees me as a sister. Please don't be mad at James."
Listening to Lavinia's words, Mia smiled at her. "I'm not mad."
Under the table, she pinched James's thigh hard.
...
After dinner, James paid the bill, and the four of them walked out together.
Lavinia affectionately linked her arm with Mia's. "Mia, let's go shopping together?"
Across the street was a famous shopping mall in Imperial City.
With her first impression already formed, Mia didn't hate Lavinia, but she couldn't bring herself to like her either.
Just as she was about to make an excuse to refuse, Lavinia shook her arm playfully. "Mia, I just got back to Imperial City and don't have any clothes to wear. Please come shopping with me?"
With the request put this way, Mia had no way to refuse.
Once in the stores, Lavinia went on a shopping spree.
She was good-looking, had a great figure, was young and full of energy.
She boldly tried different styles and pulled them off really well.
The first thing she picked was a little off-shoulder dress.
She came out, stood in front of James, twirled around, and asked, "Does it look good?"
Her gaze first fell on Louis, who was standing furthest out.
Louis immediately nodded. "Looks good."
Then it was Mia.
She also told the truth. "Looks good."
Finally, it fell on James.
But his eyes had been on Mia the whole time, as if he hadn't heard her question at all.
Seeing this, Lavinia joked, "James, do you only have eyes for Mia?"
"Yes."
It was meant as a deliberate joke, but James actually answered.
With this response, the smile on Lavinia's lips clearly stiffened for a moment.
But it passed in an instant, and no one noticed.
"Mia, I'm so envious of you."
Lavinia looked at Mia with eyes full of envy, and when Mia looked at her, she added, "I really want to have a boyfriend as devoted as James."
"How old are you? What boyfriend? Go in and try on the next outfit."
Hearing her talk about finding a boyfriend, Louis immediately disapproved.
Lavinia made a face at Louis and went back in to change.
By the end of the afternoon, Louis's hands were full of bags.
James only carried two shopping bags, which were Mia's clothes.
By the time they finished shopping, it was evening. Lavinia linked arms with Mia. "Mia, you've been shopping with me all afternoon. What do you want to eat tonight? My treat."
Before Mia could think of how to politely decline, James had already given Louis a look.
Enough already.
His patience was exhausted.
The afternoon was one thing, but now the whole evening too?
He wanted alone time with Mia.
Louis, who had just put the clothes in the car, got the message and immediately pulled Lavinia away. "We're eating at home tonight."
He took her away directly.
The world was finally quiet.
Mia was someone with strong boundaries, and the afternoon had really been her limit.
"What do you want to eat tonight?"
After James put the clothes in the back seat and they both got in the car, he turned to ask Mia.
"Meadowbrook Lane."
Mia didn't say what to eat, but gave a street name.
James didn't ask more questions. He turned the steering wheel and drove toward Meadowbrook Lane.
It was rush hour. By the time they reached Meadowbrook Lane, it was after six.
The car finally stopped at a famous lobster restaurant.
James parked the car, and they walked in together.
Mia found a large table. After sitting down, James knew her tastes and scanned the code to order.
Just as he was about to order, Mia reached out and took the phone away.
Seeing this, James didn't stop her.
He watched her order and submit.
Right after she submitted the order, a server walked over. Before she could speak, Mia said, "I didn't order wrong."
The server had come to confirm. Hearing her say this, she went back to tell the kitchen.
"What did you order?"
James was curious and asked.
Mia didn't answer, just gave him a mysterious smile.
Soon, James's question was answered.
Lobster cooks quickly.
Before long, the lobsters were brought to the table.
Looking at the table full of lobsters, at least fifty or sixty pounds, James looked at Mia in shock.
She maintained her smile, looking at him with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Don't you love peeling shrimp?"
James looked at the shrimp on the table. After the server left, he turned around and looked pitifully at the woman beside him. "Mia, do I have to peel all of them?"
"What, you're willing to peel shrimp for other women but not for me? Is this your sincerity in pursuing me?"
"No! I'm willing!"
James didn't dare bargain anymore. He picked up the disposable gloves from the side and started peeling shrimp for Mia.
Mia ate while watching him peel shrimp for her.
Teach him a good lesson.
Let's see if he dares peel shrimp for other women again!
...
A black Bugatti stopped downstairs at Building 8 where Mia lived.
By the car, Uri sat in his wheelchair, waiting silently.
As time passed, in the darkness, his deep eyes grew brighter with anticipation, and his hands gripping the wheelchair tightened more and more.
He was about to see Mia.
