Chapter 188: Kiss Mia in Public
The intention was already very obvious.
She cast out the bait, and the security guard was her fish.
The fish had now taken the hook. Amelia turned her head to look around, clearly checking if anyone was watching.
After confirming no one was there, she said something to the security guard.
The guard then followed her inside.
The door closed behind them.
Once the door shut, the surveillance was interrupted again.
But late at night, a man and woman alone together.
It was very possible that the traces he discovered that morning were left by this security guard and Amelia.
James's heart started racing again. The reappearance of this security guard was like pouring oil on the flame of hope burning in his heart.
It flared up quickly. Time continued to pass.
Until over an hour later, that door opened again.
This time, there was no sign of Amelia, only the security guard.
Though his uniform was neatly worn, his face clearly showed what he had just been doing.
Obviously still savoring the memory.
Standing sideways at Amelia's door, his eyes full of lingering satisfaction.
Seeing this, the suspicion he and Louis had come up with that morning was now seventy to eighty percent confirmed.
The rest would be crystal clear once they found the person involved.
"Is he working today?"
James suddenly stood up, called the supervisor in, and asked where the security guard was.
"Ollie has already resigned."
"Do you know where he lives?"
James pressed on.
"He's already gone back to his hometown."
The supervisor checked the previous employment records, found his hometown address, and gave it to James.
James took the address and also took the surveillance footage from that day.
Knowing James's identity, the supervisor simply gave it to him.
The two walked out of the surveillance room, and James started making calls.
First, he told Robert to book the earliest available flight.
After booking it, he told him to watch the company for the next four days.
Ollie lived in a remote place - the quickest round trip would take four days.
At the residential complex entrance, before getting in his car, James patted Louis on the shoulder. "Thanks."
"Don't think one 'thanks' will erase the drinks you promised me!"
"I'll have Robert deliver them straight to your place."
With that, he got in the car, floored the gas pedal, and headed home to pack.
James didn't tell Mia. His heart was burning hot right now.
He wanted to verify it himself, and after confirming it, tell Mia in person.
...
Six days later. Since James had been driven away six days ago, she didn't even know when he had left.
Mia left the residential complex and took the subway to work.
She had taken time off before, leaving some work behind, but over these past few days, she had caught up on most of it using lunch breaks and overtime.
After finishing her work, she habitually picked up her phone and scrolled through it.
Seeing there were no messages from James, her brow furrowed slightly, then relaxed.
She put down her phone, got up to make herself coffee.
The busy day passed quickly, and soon it was time to get off work.
Mia finished her work and left on time.
Since divorcing James, her work had gradually gotten on track, and she rarely worked overtime anymore.
"Mia, want to have dinner together tonight?"
"Sure."
Mia agreed and stood up.
When picking up her phone, she still instinctively unlocked it to check.
The morning he left, after she woke up feeling better and calmer, she had removed James from her blocked list.
But for six whole days, he hadn't appeared again, not even a call or text.
Last night, what he said to her sounded exactly like a confession.
But the result of that confession was six days of complete silence. Did people really do that?
"Mia, what are you thinking about?"
Her colleague saw her spacing out and nudged her.
"Thinking about what to eat tonight."
Mia and her colleague walked out together, chatting about dinner options.
Just as they walked out of the company entrance toward the street, suddenly a black Maybach appeared in everyone's view.
This familiar car hadn't appeared for a while, and seeing it again suddenly, her colleague pulled at Mia. "Mia, look, the Maybach is back..."
Before her colleague could finish speaking, they saw the Maybach charging straight toward them.
The colleague speaking was scared frozen and forgot to step back. Mia recognized the car as James's, so she wasn't panicked.
Seeing him, her brow furrowed slightly, and an uneasy feeling rose in her heart.
Her reaction was quick - she wanted to leave.
James had rushed all the way from the company. Seeing from afar the figure he most wanted to see, he slammed on the brakes and stopped in front of Mia.
Before the car had fully stopped, he had already unbuckled his seatbelt and pushed open the door.
With a bang, he slammed the car door shut, his gaze landing precisely on Mia, his eyes only on her.
In front of everyone, he took several large steps to Mia, opened his arms wide, and grabbed her just as she was about to run, pulling her into an embrace.
He held her so tightly, as if wanting to merge her into his body!
Mia reacted and immediately raised her hands to push him away, calling his name in a low voice, "James!"
She was warning him to let her go quickly.
But James was in an excited state. Not only did he not let go, he held her even tighter.
Mia was squeezed so tight she could barely breathe. When pushing didn't work, she started pinching.
But her strength really meant nothing to James.
Even when she used force, it didn't hurt him at all.
"James, what are you going crazy about!"
He was going crazy!
He was really so happy he was going crazy!
A hug couldn't satisfy James anymore. The fire burning in his chest was too intense.
So intense that he wanted to use more intimate contact to express it.
His arms around Mia suddenly loosened slightly.
Mia thought her angry outburst had worked.
Just as she was about to pull away from his embrace, her face was suddenly cupped by James's hands.
Her heart tensed up—
It was too late to pull away.
"James, you..."
But before her warning could finish, her lips grew warm - James kissed her.
Her slightly parted lips from speaking gave him the perfect opportunity to drive straight in.
Not giving her a chance to dodge, he entangled her, greedily taking in her sweet breath.
Lips and teeth intertwined, fully invested, kissing her intensely and deeply.
Exploring her mouth, not missing any corner.
