Chapter 124: I Love Mia

Chapter 124: I Love Mia

James was in such a terrible mood because things with Mia seemed beyond repair now. He had no desire or mental energy to watch Amelia use friendship as a cover while doing things that crossed the line.

Before, he hadn't seen his own feelings clearly. Because of his misunderstanding with Mia, even knowing it was inappropriate, he didn't stop it and let himself go too far.

In the end, he made an irreversible mistake.

Now that he understood his own heart, he absolutely wouldn't have any inappropriate behavior with Amelia again.

"Amelia, if you really meant what you said after that night—to pretend nothing happened and just be friends—I wouldn't be saying this to you. But..."

Because he had given her the opportunity.

He wouldn't just push all the responsibility onto her.

But she had gone too far!

Amelia couldn't handle James's eyes that seemed to see right through people.

She never knew his gaze could be so sharp.

Like a mirror.

Able to reflect all her inner thoughts.

Under his gaze, her thoughts couldn't be hidden at all.

Not to mention, she wasn't planning to keep hiding them anymore anyway.

"Yes, I admit it. I don't want to just be friends with you anymore."

She had been waiting for him to take the initiative to cross that "friendship" line.

But even though things with Mia were beyond repair, he still wouldn't make a move.

Then she would!

"I said that that day because you weren't planning to divorce Mia. I didn't want to ruin your marriage."

"But now it's different. You and Mia are getting divorced. What's wrong with me taking a step forward and being with you?"

"James, you know I've fallen in love with you. I know you love me too..."

As Amelia confessed, she moved closer to him.

She desperately wanted James.

The more she couldn't have him, the more she wanted him.

Now, James was about to be hers.

She would hold him firmly in her grasp.

"The person I love is Mia."

James's face was cold as he pushed Amelia away without any gentleness.

His movement was too forceful, pulling at his wound, and his face paled a bit.

Amelia was pushed back, stumbling several steps before steadying herself.

She was completely shocked, her lowered eyes full of disbelief.

What had she just heard?

James said he loved Mia?

"What did you say? You love Mia?"

Did the car accident damage his brain?

How could he possibly love Mia!

The person he loved was clearly her.

James looked at Amelia calmly.

Though he didn't speak, his expression already told Amelia everything.

Yes, he loved Mia.

His silence provoked Amelia even more.

She couldn't believe James had actually fallen in love with Mia.

She had always thought he was just used to being with Mia for so long, plus Mia was pregnant with his child.

So his heart had tilted slightly toward Mia.

But she never imagined James would fall in love with Mia.

"Are you joking? You love Mia? What do you love about her?"

James was stumped by the question.

He didn't know when he fell in love or why.

He only knew that when he realized it, the love had already seeped into his bones.

Unless he died, Mia would never belong to anyone else in this lifetime.

"None of your business!"

This was between him and Mia.

"Amelia, don't push it, or don't blame me for not remembering our past."

James's voice grew even colder.

"Robert, show her out."

James glanced at Robert, who had been waiting outside for a while, and called him in to escort Amelia out.

After Amelia left, Robert walked to the bedside and reported to James, "Mr. Smith, everything's been handled."

"Good."

James responded flatly.

Robert then began his work report.

...

Luxe Haven

Mia had barely slept again, not falling asleep until dawn broke, crying herself to sleep. She knew Wilhelmina was right about taking care of her health, but she really couldn't sleep well.

She didn't sleep long before waking up.

Looking at the time, it was past eight.

She had only slept less than three hours.

Today, there was a lot to do.

After recovering at home for over a week, last night she had Wilhelmina make arrangements. Today she was moving out and going to find a lawyer to prepare for filing for divorce.

Mia forced herself to get up.

She opened the nursery door and walked out.

Hearing movement upstairs, Wilhelmina was cleaning rooms upstairs.

She slowly walked upstairs, calling out, "Wilhelmina, I'm hungry."

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw someone slightly younger than Wilhelmina walk out from the side bedroom, bowing respectfully to her.

"Mrs. Smith, hello. I'm the new maid, Katya. You can just call me Katya. What would you like for breakfast?"

Mia looked at this unfamiliar face in front of her. Not having slept well, her brain was a bit slow to react. She instinctively asked, "Where's Wilhelmina?"

"Mrs. Smith, I don't know. What would you like to eat?"

Katya's attitude was respectful, but clearly, she knew nothing.

The moment Mia asked, she already knew the answer.

She ignored Katya and went straight to her room.

She called Wilhelmina.

The call was answered quickly. "Mrs. Mia Smith, don't fight with Mr. James Smith because of me. You shouldn't get angry right now. Listen to Wilhelmina—you must take good care of yourself at home, okay?"

"Okay!"

Wilhelmina had already said everything Mia wanted to say.

Before, she could still protect Wilhelmina.

Now, she was powerless.

"Oh, Mrs. Smith, about renting the apartment..."

Last night she had tried to help Mia secure the place, but they refused to rent to her.

"They won't rent to me anymore, right?"

"Mrs. Smith, don't worry. I'll help you find another place."

"Wilhelmina, no need. I'll handle it myself."

This was her war with James.

If Wilhelmina got more involved, she was afraid of dragging her down further.

They chatted a bit more, and Mia promised to take care of herself before hanging up.

After hanging up, she didn't follow Wilhelmina's advice to stay home and rest. Instead, she changed clothes and went out.

Seeing this, Katya immediately asked, "Mrs. Smith, where are you going? I..."

"Tell James I'm going to find a divorce lawyer to file for divorce!"

Mia said coldly and left.

She couldn't reach Lyle by phone, so she thought she'd go directly to the law office.

But she didn't expect to come up empty.

The assistant told her Lyle was on a business trip and wouldn't be back anytime soon.

Mia asked if there were other lawyers handling divorce cases.

They told her directly that all the lawyers were busy and had no time to take on new divorce cases.

She went to two other firms, and the answers were all the same.

Mia understood clearly now.

She stood in the sunlight, thinking of what James had said to her in the nursery last night.

'Mia, without my consent, you'll never divorce me in this lifetime!'

She lowered her head and laughed coldly.

Really?

She didn't believe he could really control everything!

She was determined to get this divorce!

Mia had been running around all morning, and her body couldn't take it.

Besides, she had something more important to do.

Move out of Luxe Haven.

When she got home, Katya asked what she wanted to eat, but she didn't answer. She went straight upstairs to pack her clothes.

A small suitcase, not packed with much.

Just a few changes of clothes. Coming downstairs, she pulled out all of James's cards and placed them on the coffee table.

She only kept a little cash and her own documents in her wallet.

Expressionless, she dragged the small suitcase toward the door.

"Mrs. Smith, you can't leave!"

Seeing this, Katya immediately stepped forward to stop her.

James had instructed that Mia wasn't allowed to move out.

"Get out of my way!"

Mia had always been kind to people. She rarely lost her temper and never treated people badly.

But today, she was truly provoked by James's actions.

This person James had hired to watch her—she was taking her anger out on her.

After four years with James, she had picked up some of his presence.

Right now, she was quite intimidating.

That one look at Katya was enough to scare her.

Mia pulled her suitcase and was about to open the door to leave.

The door opened from outside.

James's figure appeared in her view.

Seeing that she was moving out, a storm brewed in James's eyes.

Before he could speak, Amelia's voice sounded behind him, "James..."
