Chapter 5 Do You Know Each Other?
At this moment, the front door opened. Professor Marco Rowling was back.
Marco changed his shoes and went straight to the kitchen, so he did not notice those in the living room.
Scarlette's entire body quivered a little. She had been talking with Marcellus for a while now, but she had forgotten to tell Marcellus that she had yet to inform her parents about their marriage.
"Mr. Yeager, I..." Scarlette said softly as she inched closer towards Marcellus.
When she met Marcellus' cold gaze, Scarlette suddenly realized that she had addressed him the wrong way. But at this moment, she still couldn't bring herself to call her boss by his name.
Therefore, Scarlette had to pretend that she didn't understand the meaning behind his gaze as she continued, "I haven't told my parents that we're already married."
Listening to her words, Marcellus remained emotionless and simply gave her a slight nod, showing that he understood.
"Also..." Scarlette continued, but Marco had suddenly appeared behind her and interrupted her.
"Scarlette! We have a guest?"
His deep and loud voice scared her out of her wits.
Scarlette turned around and was about to complain, but as she remembered that Marcellus was present, she had to fake a smile and say, "Dad, how's your day?"
Then, she obsequiously walked to Marco's side and took the briefcase from his hand.
Just as Scarlette was about to introduce Marcellus to her father, Marco walked past her and went to Marcellus. "Marcellus? Why are you here?"
Marcellus stood up and bowed his head slightly at Marco, greeting politely, "Professor."
Compared to Marco's excitement, he was calm as usual.
It seemed that nothing could ever make him feel agitated.
Marco made Marcellus sit down. He then ordered Scarlette without even raising his head, "Go and brew some Earl Grey Tea for the guest. Hurry up."
"Um..." Did they know each other?
Scarlette was a little confused by the situation. Marco was behaving as though he had reunited with an old friend, and she was obviously in no place to interrupt them. Left with no choice, she obediently took out the Earl Grey Tea which Marco treasured. Then, she went to the kitchen to brew the tea.
"Mom, Dad seems to know Mr... Marcellus."
Although it was not difficult for her to say the name, Scarlette still could not adapt to it in a short time.
Molly was cleaning the shrimps when she heard her daughter's words. She stopped her work and looked towards the living room, only to see the happy expression on Marco's face.
Molly retrieved her gaze and muttered, "Yeah, it seems that they know each other."
Molly did not tell Marco about Scarlette's blind date. Thus, when she told him just moments ago that Scarlette's date had come to visit, Marco had reprimanded her.
Now, it seemed that they were no strangers.
The smile on Molly's face grew wider as she thought about it.
Ever since Marcellus had entered the house, the more Molly looked at him, the fonder she grew of him.
He was calm and collected. A man like him was the ideal son-in-law in her heart.
Molly was very delighted as she hummed a tune to herself, completely ignoring the puzzled look on Scarlette's face.
Scarlette could only bring the brewed tea to the living room.
Marco was discussing some academic topics with Marcellus. Scarlette couldn't understand them at all, so she sat at the side awkwardly.
Marco was quite elated as he spoke, and then he brought Marcellus into his study. Once the door was closed behind the two, Scarlette couldn't hear anything.
She curled her lips and went to the kitchen to help Molly.
About half an hour later, the dishes were ready and they were all served on the table.
After the meal was prepared, Scarlette knocked on the door of the study and asked them to come out for dinner.
On usual days, the Rowling family would have their dinner together harmoniously.
This day, however, the atmosphere was quite subtle.
Perhaps it was because of the aura Marcellus exuded that this ordinary dinner suddenly felt like a high-end dinner.
Scarlette could not help but straighten her back and placed her hands on her thighs in a proper manner.
It was only at this moment that Marco remembered that he should introduce Marcellus.
"Molly, Scarlette, this is Marcellus, the student that I'm proud of. I've told you both about him before."
Scarlette gawked at Marcellus in bewilderment.
She couldn't believe that he was the very student whom her father had often talked about!
Marcellus was the popular and holistic senior who had excelled in everything, the one who had bagged countless awards!
Immediately, Marcellus became awesome in Scarlette's eyes.
Molly was even more elated when she heard this. She wanted to place some food into Marcellus' plate, but he had a cold and sullen look on his face, which successfully persuaded Molly not to do so.
Thus, she could only smile and say, "Eat up."
Marcellus nodded at Molly and replied in a flat tone, "Thank you, Madam Molly."
He then picked up the cutlery. His movements were relaxed and elegant, making him look like a noble elite. Scarlette, who had always been unable to hold her cutleries in a proper manner, suddenly felt a little ashamed.
Scarlette simply thought that she should drink some soup first, so she got up and picked up her bowl. But at this moment, Molly spotted the ring on Scarlette's finger with her sharp eyes.
Molly was smart and immediately looked towards Marcellus's hand. Sure enough, she saw a similar ring adorned on his finger.
"Scarlette, your ring." Molly grabbed Scarlette's hand right away, looking between Scarlette and Marcellus. "Are you both...?"
Being caught on the spot, Scarlette felt nervous at once. She cast a pleading look towards Marcellus.
Seeing this, Marcellus put down his cutlery neatly before slowly lifting his eyes.
His tone was tranquil yet extremely solemn as he announced, "Professor Rowling, Madam Molly, Scarlette and I are married."
